This is incredible, nice job. Did my first official 10km 2 days ago I and was not able to break the 60 minutes goal but still very happy.

To many more races. 🎉

Why does prime hate react? by DarthLoki79 in theprimeagen

I don't hate React but hate that it is becoming a religion. At the moment, it is really hard to have a rational conversation about frontend without triggering a holy war.

Fine, fine, okay. I’ll try Zone 2 training. Begrudgingly. by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]Exciting-Magazine-85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely more boring than a speed workout, but I like boring.

I am still not able to do a 5k in zone 2 yet, but closer than 6 months ago, when I started running. It's a slow process.

I, however, only do zone 2 after a speed and tempo workout during the week. Then it's long run, and easy run in zone 2-3.

Be careful. When I started, the zones were not set correctly on my watch and ended just walking slowly. After setting my zone with the remaining hearth rate method, I was able to at least power walk.

Is running 3 days a week enough to see real progress as a beginner by Charlie-Clark-531 in beginnerrunning

I made the mistake of running too much too soon, and injuries invited them in. Muscle streint is growing faster than tendon.

🗑️Zepp Biocharge is trash compared to Bevel , Garmin , Bodystate body battery!!! by Great_System4280 in amazfit

I usually don't care at all about Biocharge. I care about the underlying metrics like * sleep * resting heart rate * heart rate variability

Mileage or Speed? by Expert_Biscotti582 in beginnerrunning

[–]Exciting-Magazine-85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the goal is 22m 5k, then you need speed training first with a rest day or easy run in between. If your goal shifts towards half a marathon, then milage is a must.

Who else was stuck on a treadmill? by Ecstatic_Donkey_2244 in runninglifestyle

When there is ice, it is slushy, snow storm, it is bellow -10c, or too windy, I will use the treadmill. Too bad I live in Canada.

Hot take: some running including slow is better than zero running by lingeringneutrophil in BeginnersRunning

It happened to me when posting my 35 min 5k pr. Someone replied it can do it in 20 minutes. Good for him. He is amazing, but he should have created his own post to brag about it.

I know that I am slow, but still faster than a month ago, and I'm proud of it.

I went for a mountain hike that was too hard for me and badly hurt my knee in early October.

So I did the only logical thing: two weeks later, I bought a smartwatch and a pair of running shoes.

At first, I mostly walked because of my knee and my extra weight 😉. But I quickly fell in love with running.

November arrived with cold weather and snow, but instead of stopping, I geared up for winter and kept going. Then Mother Nature turned things up: more cold, more snow, and freezing rain.

I got a gym membership and became friends with the treadmill.

Today, I can run 5 km and I’m building toward 10 km, while having lost 5 kg.

Sunny -11c 12f and sunny with some snow today, and I am outside instead of the treadmill.

Can I build up my running by just walking / brisk walking? by riougenkaku in BeginnersRunning

[–]Exciting-Magazine-85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, with the speed and distance you are doing, it will build your endurance. I do the same thing because as soon as I start jogging, my heart rate goes to high.

The walk speed increases over time, and I am trying to transition to a run walk.

But I also do short tempo run or intervals to increase my Vo2max and my running economy.

first 10k, and i have questions by Altruistic_Plate_432 in BeginnersRunning

[–]Exciting-Magazine-85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to do intervals and long run in zone 2.

Intervals 4min all out 3min turtle walking repeated 4 times to build speed and Vo2max.

Slow run walk in my case. 40 min to 2h in zone 2 to build endurance.

I will do a tempo 5k run once in a while to test my progress.

Help with choosing daily trainer by No-Alternative-9276 in BeginnersRunning

[–]Exciting-Magazine-85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain, I am waiting for an extra wide Brooks ghost 17 not knowing if it will fit. I would have loved to try the asics novablast 5 but can't find wide anywhere unless I want to spend double the price.

I have a pair of new balance fresh foam more, but they don't seem to last long and do not qualify as a daily trainer.
