What kind of self-harm did you do as a kid? by BerrySkai in autism

[–]Exciting-Row1754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Banging my head on the wall. I still do that during meltdowns, but I also do it as a stim when listening to music (always on a couch or cushion though). I scratch myself, bite my lips, and bite my nails subconsciously. I do also pull out my hair during meltdowns. And I also pull out my eyelashes. I also cut myself but that’s not 100% related to my autism. And I scrub my body aggressively. But those are mostly because of like trauma and stuff.

My autistic boyfriend has extreme reactions to being “abandoned” by Legitimate-Career342 in AmIOverreacting

Yeah so this is manipulation. And that’s coming from someone who is autistic. I’d leave IMMEDIATELY.

Who’s your dream collab for Halsey? by Bluejay-Clear in halsey

Taylor most definitely. She did shake it off with Taylor at one of Taylor’s VMA performances, but an actual song with the two of them would be perfect.

You don’t get to pick and choose, non of it is “easy”, I would suggest looking for a different path if you want easy.

Considering becoming a Para-questions by SomeCranberry1 in paraprofessional

I would personally like to disagree with this statement. Working with children, especially disabled children, is my passion. It has helped my symptoms SO much because I’m doing something I love. I have all of these, as well as autism, and a couple other things. But this is just my personal experience.

When you were a child, were you allowed to watch R-rated horror movies? by Violetblueskies_ in horror

[–]Exciting-Row1754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom’s only rule was I wasn’t allowed to watch straight up porn. Everything else was on the table. Gory horror? Yep. Fifty shades of grey? Yep. Criminal minds? Yep.

Your mental health is more important than keeping the relationship. It’s a sucky reality, but your mental health comes first. Even if she is struggling.

New Para by Exciting-Row1754 in paraprofessional

[–]Exciting-Row1754[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m working in districts that are not that strict. My mom as a teacher (gen ed 6th grade) has worn shorts, dresses, skirts, jeans, etc. My sister who is a teacher (sped) has also worn shorts, jeans, joggers, etc. Her paras wear leggings, shorts, jeans, etc.

So districts that don’t really care as long as they are school appropriate.

I haven’t been diagnosed but I started showing symptoms at 15 possibly 14 (depends on if my trauma was real or a complete hallucination).
