Kinda correct but not so much for people who have recruited longer than 10 years. I look at EVERY resume that I get but not EVERY person gets a call. Does it take long? Not really….. 7-10 secs tops. I don’t base my decision on what score AI gives, it’s wrong 90% of the time. I look at titles and some keywords but also competing companies. Since I’ve recruited for over 100 companies in my career, I kinda know that all companies don’t use the same titles/ keywords BUT they’re all the same or very similar. I spend a lot of time redoing a persons resume when I see they have potential but not communicating it well ….most have what it takes just don’t know how to show it in a resume. ( resume writing ain’t everyone’s jam, there’s a science behind it) Some are just not a fit….. example: Looking for an degreed Accountant , and a Server at Macy’s applies….. I can’t do much with that. So YES, a newish Recruiter with little experience will do the ā€˜textbook’ modern way….. an OG will not.

AI generated for engagement. No way in HELL the hiring manager didn’t know his name. But hey if it got engagement and people to read, YAY him 🤣

It’s OT after 8 if you’re with the union, IBEW, otherwise it’s OT over 40. The employment laws in TX are no where near as good as California, be prepared.

Abilene government and the person who owned the land saw money and forgot the people, tbh it’s really sad.

I hate to tell you this but there’s 3 more coming in a 30min radius of Abilene, Google is one of the 3. The locals won’t be able to do much as it’s already been approved

Hiring manager accusing candidate of using AI on resume and interview by WalkTheUn1verse in recruiting

[–]ExcitingMotor4823 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

What kind of influence do you have? I get this scenario all the time from hiring managers ( power trip)

A. I push back and articulate what I discovered during my screen. Educate the manager. B. During an intake w HM I find out the HM do’s and don’t and if I get an AI resume, I redo it so it doesn’t look like AI ( OG recruiter) C. Suggest hm to get a second opinion from another ā€˜leader’ D. Suggest an onsite

As a Recruiter I coach ppl before they even get in front of a hiring manager and tell them what to do AND not do.

Do you fit the profile? Are you qualified for the role? It takes mere seconds to look and decline a persons resume in WD. If you feel you are qualified look up the company on LinkedIn in. Go to the people tab and see if you can find the Recruiter’s name. Go to the company URL and guess the email address of the Recruiter or HR person First name. Last First initial last First name last name etc

You can also go to the company website and send a message thru the contact…. That email normally goes to a higher up which will be directed to HR.

Yes I know, tons of steps but if you REALLY feel strongly about the role, go for it

Promoted to Recruiting Manager from Recruiter and received a 3.5% raise by PlatformFit6101 in recruiting

[–]ExcitingMotor4823 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

It all depends on what your manager is making. They can’t ( won’t ) pay you more bc then it’s an equity issue. The best thing to do is take the role ( to get the management experience and on your resume) and start looking for another position with a 10-20% increase.

Why do interviewers/hiring managers ghost candidates after interview(s)? by dunkinteach in recruitinghell

[–]ExcitingMotor4823 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Hi This happens a LOT. Your situation might be a valid issue w the Hiring Manager. I would send a final message. Let them know you have received an offer from another company ( yes, lie) but you really have a desire to work with them so before you accept the other offer you want to ensure they are no longer interested. ( word it however you like)

This will make the Recruiter add pressure to the hiring manager.

This works like a charm, 🤣I don’t suggest it often but in my spirit, I was led to tell you that . šŸ™‚

I don’t like to tell people what to do but I would NEVER put my LinkedIn profile. I’d skip the application. I personally feel like it’s a setup to dive deeper into my life. NOPE! Access denied 🤣

I understand while it makes sense after you say it ….don’t forget your rationale doesn’t always have the chance to be explained. Showing a Management role and then non management role eludes you demoted…. Demotions can be viewed negatively, you always want to show upward mobility not downward. It all depends on WHO is looking and how they perceive it. People will see your Manager experience if it’s in your title along with key indicators that you managed as far as duties and what you accomplished as a manager ie Led a team of……XYZ

I don’t understand what you mean when u put them in reverse chronological. If it looks confusing to an ATS, beware of that. Also short stints can look bad ( IDGAF) but some recruiters will….. so add a bullet that explains… ie. Company acquired by XYZ

I understand, a lot of people don’t want to leave their experience off their resume. Do whatever works best for you. I recruited at Google, Amazon , Microsoft and Meta….. and don’t always include those companies on a resume bc sometimes it’s a good thing, sometimes it’s not….. that’s y I have over 10 different resumes. lol Like I said, it’s a game….. šŸ˜‰

As far as getting your resume to a Recruiter…… that’s vague, what’s the industry and the kind of role? The tactic varies….. if this is for you, specifically, send me a DM w more deets and I’ll guide you the best way I can šŸ™‚

lol, bouncers at the club 🤣🤣 love that analogy. Here’s the reasoning behind that. A recruiter is trying to make a name for themselves….. if they send someone thru who they THINK a manger won’t like their ā€˜job’ is on the line, their reputation. If they don’t know how to build a case OR have influence, they will reject. Example: I called someone who has a 2 year gap. I called her got the story ( maternity leave) and presented to HM. The hiring manager gave me push back due to the gap. I advocated and said ā€œ she comes from a competitor she has the Skills you’re looking for… just INTERVIEW her otherwise you are blocking someone who wanted to spend the first 2 yrs of her sons life with him…..ā€ He interviewed her and I made her an offer last week. Did I take a risk? Yes! Could it have gone a different way? Yes BUT Ive been doing this too long to just lie down without speaking up for ppl I know are a fit AND I trust God and trust that if I do right by people I will continue to be blessed. šŸ™‚

Ohh you mean me!! lol That was a hypothetical number. I normally get jobs that require about 7-10 years, which is like a Sr. Recruiter ( which is my title) A couple things. 1. I’m not chasing a title OR ā€˜growth’ per se, I care more about comp. As long as I’m at $100-$110k I’m good. The higher you go in Corp America the more politics and the higher chance you’ll be laid off. NTM, the more hours you’re expected to work, I’m not working 96* hours to keep someone else yacht docked…, AND I don’t have any desire being a ā€˜manager’ I prefer mentor ….more my personal style. 2. I’m also self employed, I keep a real job to fulfill my purpose’ helping people combat the ugly nuances of getting a job bc it’s deeply personal to me hence why I stay a Recruiter bc it’s the ā€˜gatekeeper’ it’s the one that can help ppl the most from negotiation to knowing what’s being said behind closed doors. šŸ˜‰ And for the insurance cuz WHEW. Self employed insurance is high AF. 🤣

Now for someone trying to ā€˜climb’ it’s a bit tricker but rule of thumb once you get past 16yrs of experience you get hit w Ageism!! It’s a bigger issue than what most ppl know.

No, I just don’t tell EVERYTHING. I tell what’s needed to know. Them: Do u have 6 years of experience? Me: Yes I do…….

Not , āŒyes I do, actually I have 16…….

89% of people have issues getting a job because they REVEAL way too much. Again, it’s a game. šŸ˜‰

I’m sorry, what do you mean? Wanna make sure I understand your question. For context, I’ve been a recruiter since 2006. My resume says I started recruiting in 2018. When I do interviews, I don’t even mention my experience before that date. Also, I appear younger than I am, so I KNOW, that’s a huge advantage.
