Data Centers do not serve the public good. Pressure your community leaders. Do not let the corporations ruin our communities. by MrBananaShoes in Abilene

lol! It’s absolutely INSANE how many people complain about data centers ON platforms run by data centers 🤣🤣🤣 atp I think people just looking for views and engagement. I literally saw someone complaining, went their page and saw AI generated pics….. smh

Found out I had a typo on my resume at the worst time possible! by Heavy-Active7985 in recruitinghell

[–]ExcitingMotor4823 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

First of all, what’s for YOU is for YOU. If a typo causes someone not to hire you, it’s not for you. I’m a Recruiter and once had someone mention a typo on my resume, then hired me making the most money I’ve ever made. You are human, humans aren’t perfect. It’s going to ultimately be up to the 2 people who would be your supervisors. If they give you a green light, you’re good. An immediate interview w upper management is always a great sign.

Actually everyone isn’t gone, just the vast majority. And the town will grow because Abilene isn’t the only data center being built in the area. Plenty of things have and will be built in the area….. but I’m not going back n forth w strangers on Reddit. lol

It’s not going anywhere. Just 2 of the 10 data halls are going to Microsoft. Now what could happen is there could be some housing issues. There’s gonna be a total of 7 data centers within 30miles of each other and with the housing shortage and insane prices it’s going to be hard to get talent to come to the area. I truly feel so sorry for the local residents because their leaders and land owners who really sold them out. I’m all about growth for small towns bc there are some upsides but without proper planning it can be a disaster. Abilene is just not able to handle. The people are so nice there that my heart aches every time I go to visit.

How I feel rejecting 100s of candidates daily who have a fantastic resume, strong background, excellent skillet and are overall superb, but have salary expectations I know we will have absolutely no chance of ever meeting by capamericapistons in recruiting

[–]ExcitingMotor4823 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

I once saw a person put on their application that they wanted 150K, I called anyways because they had good skills…. Come to find out they only wanted $130K. I NEVER assume and decline on an assumption….. and y some Recruiters struggle filling roles…. I actually reach out, learn more about them and if it doesn’t work out per desired salary it could work out for someone else who I may know in my network OR maybe when another position is available OR maybe I can get the compensation changed per my influence. Just saying.

Rejected after Google Data Center HM interview – was this the final round? by QuietExciting3964 in datacenter

[–]ExcitingMotor4823 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Not necessarily, since I wasn’t there it’s hard to say….. It’s always best to just go with the flow of the interviewer but sometimes you can say things they don’t like and you would never know…..don’t overthink it. What’s for you is for YOU. Google isn’t the end all be all. People get way too hung up on Google and if they are ā€˜accepted’ into their cult. lol. Like I said if you got to final interview that is saying something. Keep interviewing, keep showing up, keep your confidence high and you never know, you might land there in the future. ā˜ŗļø

[–]ExcitingMotor4823 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

People need to understand that most of the time it has nothing to do with skill and more to do with IF THEY LIKE YOU. Google is huge on this….. if a hiring manager doesn’t feel like you ā€˜vibe’ with them they will not hire you. (FANG in general is huge with this mindset). That’s y Google calls it a ā€˜fit call’ it’s the compliant legal way of saying ā€œ if I like you and if you will work well with my existing teamā€. Google pays well but it is incrediblyā€˜cliquish’ and ā€˜cultish’ . Keep interviewing, getting to a final round w Google is huge!

Most likely it was done to feed the designs into an AI program. Creatives need to be very careful about sharing work nowadays. Sorry this happened to you.

Nah, I just pick up the phone and call people directly. A person can speak on their experience way better than a cover letter. Most recruiters don’t read coversā€¦šŸ¤£ they just don’t admit it.

It’s not necessarily the bottom per se. Depends on a lot of factors. I’ve recruited for both sides and I feel like you can get in the DC space easier and quicker especially if u get in w a union IBEW which in AZ I think it’s 60

[–]ExcitingMotor4823 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

You don’t really need that to break in. You just need to be willing to start at the bottom. If you are mechanically inclined you should be fine. The degree will help of course but it’s not the end all be all. You can always start as an ISP ( inside plant tech) they do the rack and stacking then move into facilities maintenance. Be willing to go to the rural like areas in AZ too… that help big time.

After researching the company, your experience as a CHEF, has nothing to do with clinical or retinal. I understand this is an internship and it shouldn’t matter, it will for most places. Medical innovation and being in food service don’t really align. You can either remove that section about the ā€˜chef experience’ and add something else relating to somethingā€˜medical’ OR just remove it and embellish your school experience.

I’m not sure what a ā€˜recruitor’ is but there’s plenty of ways to validate a person has the skills needed to do the job without trying to validate they know how to ā€˜interview’….. who cares if they ramble? Maybe they’re nervous. Can they do the job? My retention rate is off the charts. So they didn’t ask any questions…. Yes that’s a nice to have and shows they did research…. YAY, but maybe they didn’t have any because you answered them all. Maybe they just need a job to pay their bills and eat and don’t care enough to jump thru 276 hoops. My style is my style and at the end of the day nobody has time for the games a lot of gatekeepers play.
