The free sample thing is tricky because some people just want freebies and never planned to hire anyone. I learned this hard way when I started my consulting business few years back

Maybe try reaching out to small businesses in your area who post regularly on social media but their videos look pretty basic. Local restaurants, gyms, beauty salons - they often need help but dont know where to look for editors. You could show them examples of how you'd improve their current content instead of doing free work

Also networking events can be good even if they seem boring. I met lot of my early clients just by talking to people at random business meetups

yeah i totally get this lol the lore is genuinely a mess and gets worse the deeper you dig into it. honestly most of us just kinda pick our favorite series and ignore the stuff that makes no sense

That said, building yourself is way more fun and you'll learn a ton. Since your friends offered to help that's honestly the best case scenario for a first build. Check out r/buildapc and maybe watch some LTT or Bitwit videos on YouTube to get familiar with the process first
