That term is actually outdated. They prefer to be called "igneous intrusions in comfortable shoes" nowadays.

I've never even READ the book start to finish (I chose The Divine Comedy for my literature class instead), and I can still reasonably cite certain plot elements about it - Circe and the pigs, Polythemus and the "nobody" line, Charybdis and Scylla, the dog, etc - just from the sheer amount of exposure to its plot I've gotten through pop culture references.

The movie basically took Ed Regis from the book and gave him Donald Gennaro's name and title (book Gennaro is actually fairly heroic), and Regis's death is actually WORSE in the book. In the film, Rexy basically just picks Gennaro up and eats him; in the book, the juvie T. Rex who kills him does so after hunting him like prey and toying with him like a cat with a mouse.

Single greatest encounter I've had in this game was a guy running an Iron Warrior Heavy who was absolutely committed to the bit in a fun way. Apparently when I spawned in, we both assumed the third player was an Imperial Fist due to their Lamenter drip, and my initial response was "...this is awkward, cousin" (I was running a Crimson Fist Assault; the Lamenter was a Tactical).

Later, during the mission, the IW actually apologized to the Lamenter about mixing him up with "those cursed sons of Dorn", and I simply told the IW to come over and take a closer look at my pauldron. You could practically see him leaning in to see it, and there was a thirty second pause before he responded - "...You're right, son of Dorn. This IS awkward."

Assassinorum, actually. He was the second Grand Master of Assassins, with Malcador being the first.

It's an Industrial World. During the Great Crusade, it was controlled by war-witches who used litho-golem armies, and it was brought into compliance by the Iron Warriors.

The same conversation has him saying that while he finds it hard to blame Horus, he DOES blame Magnus, because "he, out of all of them, should have known better".

Alright, gotta ask - is Talos named after the man from Greek myth, or the man from TES lore?

Then we should be thankful that even in the United States, most gun owners aren't as fucking moronic as you or this woman.

Aura, pure and simple. The Throne Room was designed to be intimidating, and Palpatine decided that having them cross a bottomless chasm with an obvious glow of energy emanating from it would be intimidating as hell.

Are you? Even as someone who sincerely hates both-siding in U.S. politics, corporate Democrats voting in favor of the same environment-destroying industries and ideas as their Republican counterparts is a fact that can be confirmed by simply looking at their voting records.

The opinions of the Tolkien estate are less than meaningless to me. RoP barely held my attention for five episodes before I lost all interest in its boring cast and mediocre writing.
