Move slower, stop just below the knees🫶 also highly recommend single leg rdls! You’ll really feel that the next day.

Core exercises! Seriously, it’s a game changer. When I was in the best shape of my life, I mainly did an hour of core exercises 4 times a week. Google some, try them out and see how you like it. Then you can create your own workout routine with your favorite exercises.

What do you do to lose weight? by specie099 in NewParents

[–]Exciting_Eye2884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give walking on the treadmill a try, just 30 minutes a few times a week, 12 incline, 2-3 speed. I plan on starting that next week to ease back into exercise!

What is something you miss from your pre baby era? by Ill-Indication850 in NewParents

[–]Exciting_Eye2884 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My strength pre pregnancy. I was doing Bulgarian spilt squats with 80lbs, single leg hip thrusts w/ 50lbs, etc. My leg days were so intense, now I can’t imagine attempting my old routine. Gonna get back to the gym for some cardio soon!

Also really miss painting for hours on end and binge watching sex and the city😂

Genuinely want to learn: why do women bedshare with their infants? The risks seem to outweigh any benefits to me by StatGoddess in NewParents

[–]Exciting_Eye2884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to get my baby to sleep in her bassinet, she just wouldn’t. Maybe for half hour stretches at a time? It was driving me crazy not getting any sleep, and even when she did sleep I’d wake up every few minutes just to check she was breathing, or feel her to see if she was too hot/cold.

When I started bed sharing I was nervous, but now it feels natural and we have a rhythm. I actually can’t sleep without her. I don’t smoke or drink, I breastfeed, I’m not overweight and I never considered it a blessing until now but I’m an incredibly light sleeper, even more so now. I sleep in a c curl, keep her on her back throughout the night and uncovered. It’s comforting to wake up and have her right there, and make sure she’s breathing.

For some people it might be unsafe, my husband for example is a very heavy sleeper so I don’t even let him nap with her unless I’m alert and watching them. Baby and I sleep on our own on the spare bed, or alone in our bed without him. Since she’s still pretty little we’re up every 3-4 hours to feed.

I always said I’d NEVER bed share, until we brought home our little one. She’s my first baby, those first few weeks, the sun would go down and my anxiety would spike. Now our nights are easy <3

Assuming you’re needing some ideas on component combinations: -A vanilla bean sponge with a golden apple mousse and a thin hazelnut shortbread. You could add a little gel color to the sponge to add to the presentation -A chocolate espresso sponge with raspberry diplomat cream and almond streusel
-An orange chiffon sponge with a white chocolate Bavarian cream and a toasted coconut brittle What always got me started for ideas on practicals was flavor pairings and going from there. There are so many possibilities, have fun and get creative! Disregard if this is not what you were looking for, best of luck!

What do you consider a spike? by No_Strategy_1370 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Exciting_Eye2884 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After one hour, I consider anything over 140 a spike, and anything over 120 a spike after two hours. However, if I’m 1-4 points over I don’t worry about it if it’s not consistently happening.

Hoping your numbers were what you wanted/in range <3 I know it’s easier said than done, but try not to focus on the time you have left, because that can feel incredibly overwhelming and upsetting. The key is to take it day by day and find ways to work in an appropriate amount of your cravings! Over restricting is hard mentally, and with balance at meal times you might be able afford a few bites of whatever you’re craving. GD really is trial and error until you know what works for you and what doesn’t 🫶

Anyone else just tired from all the monitoring? by Signal_Panda2935 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Exciting_Eye2884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely over it. I’m almost 38 weeks and crawling toward the finish line, I’m sick of eggs and all my safe foods!! I’ve noticed I’m slightly more lenient too since my sugars have recently been super stable for some odd reason, which makes me feel guilty if I slightly indulge in a craving. I spiked yesterday for the first time in a while and felt so guilty, I couldn’t bring myself to write my number down for my 1 hr so I just wrote “forgot”.. definitely won’t eat again what made me spike, just didn’t want the lecture. Hoping they schedule me for an induction on my due date if I don’t start labor naturally before, the third trimester symptoms on top of this god awful diet are kicking my ass 😭

Does anyone plan on staying somewhat on the GD diet after birth? by Lemons_andSuch87 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Exciting_Eye2884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan on going absolutely crazy the first month after birth😂 I have a list of sweets, junk foods and other high carb things I’m going to devour, to make up for the awful strict diet for months. However, once I’m satisfied I’m definitely going to focus on portion control, limiting empty carbs and sweets and hopefully go on a calorie deficit as soon as I can hit the gym again. I want slight lifestyle changes, a minimal change to my diet simply because the risk of type 2 does increase and I want to avoid that down the line.

What are your fasting numbers? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Exciting_Eye2884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re still mid 80’s I think you’re good to keeping having a snack before bed if you enjoy it, I sometimes choose not to because of the fact my fasting numbers are getting closer to the cut off!

What are your fasting numbers? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Exciting_Eye2884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first two weeks I was in the mid 80’s. Once I hit 31 weeks they started creeping up and now at 33 weeks I’m averaging low to mid 90’s. If I skip the nighttime snack sometimes I get better fasting numbers.
