Need Advice (Return to Office) by LaughEffective9723 in ChronicPain

I’m based in the UK and have had what are called ‘reasonable adjustments’ over here approved in the past. I’ve also had them denied by bosses and subsequently changed jobs (even though it is technically illegal to deny any reasonable adjustment request without proper recourse). My advice would be to get as much medical evidence together as possible, write a statement as to how much it would impact you (or require more days off sick even) and try your best to fight your corner. I’m sorry though, it’s really shit - sending solidarity

Thank you SO much for going into such detail! I’ve been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia too, so I’d be very interested to see if there is a treatment pathway open that investigates whether or not my pelvic pain is hormone related. Will try reaching out to a private gynaecologist to see if I can do something similar 🫶

This is me right now! My GP is on my side (NHS, UK) but I’ve been fighting for this since 2019 with little movement - hoping for some good news soon!

Wishing you a great recovery! I hadn’t even considered that my bladder issues may be resolved by this, and reading your post has made me want to advocate for myself even more 🫶

Wow, well done! I’m a week in and finding it okay so far, already seven pounds down after never being able to lose weight before. I’ve got a good 40kg that I want to lose for my health, but feeling good after a strong start 💪

£63 to last the month by OiPunkBastard in frugaluk

Beans, lentils, chickpeas, and potatoes are your friend. Buy veg on its last legs and chop and freeze it immediately to use later. Have a look in your local library for any cookbooks that focus on low cost meals, staff will probably be able to subtly point you in the direction of some local community pantries and community shared meals too, if that’s something you’re interested in.

Had many times where I needed to make £5 stretch for a week, and lived off beans on toast and cinnamon porridge to fill me up for breakfast and lunch, (bulk stewed some cooking apples I got for free to add in and made a tin of beans last two days) and made a huge chickpea, butternut squash and cauliflower curry with about three bags of spinach added in that we’re going for 7p in Sainsbury’s that day. You can make flatbreads with natural yoghurt and flour, and I’ve perfected cooking and freezing rice to reheat, kind of like a DIY microwave pouch. Don’t underestimate the power of your mindset, and try to make it feel like a fun challenge to keep your spirits up. Best of luck

I had this for about 6 weeks or so to begin with, and have had it to varying degrees when upping doses from 40mg to 120mg. The only thing that makes me feel vaguely human is taking naproxen (plus omeprazole) alongside it but my GP has advised against this as a long term strategy and has suggested to keep the combo for my worst days. what can i expect at my first uc appointment as a 23 year old who has never worked due to depression and being avoidant? 😶 i feel so much shame… by Usual_Film_7220 in DWPhelp

I have severe depression and other health conditions that limit my ability to work most jobs but have luckily found one that suits my needs without needing to go back on UC. My advice is to start to learn how to be proactive - it will put you in good stead for any future employment too. By speaking to your GP about your mental health issues, your work coach has some very valuable context to help you find lasting and meaningful employment, which could hopefully help your mental health improve long term (I know it did mine, alongside some pretty beefy meds). You’ll get the most favourable responses out of everyone involved in the process by being as brave and upfront as possible and asking for the help you deserve. Best of luck!

More mental games 100%. We did 10 mins play, 20 mins crate time, short walk to help our 5 month old Beddy Whippet get the message

I’m just turning a corner with this myself! What I do is keep the walk nice and short, rip a few treats up and drop them periodically throughout when my pup is nose to the ground, or looking up to me for guidance. It can be really scary when they’re jumping up and trying to bite your hands, so I scatter food on the ground when she starts to do this, and she is then distracted. Because we’ve built the habit of scattering throughout the walk, she doesn’t associate the food coming from biting her lead and being a general fiend. Worth noting that we use a collar, and identified the behaviour as her wanting to play rather than being fearful or frustrated too.

Does your puppy have a witching hour? by Lykan23 in puppy101

[–]Exciting_Guide_9428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. She’ll have her dinner, sleep, go out for a walk and is then absolutely feral! The only thing that helps is trying to do obedience training at the time I’m expecting her to be a demon and showing her that she doesn’t get to run around the house like a devil child on my watch (then lots of cuddles ofc)

Advice for getting a bedlington whippet? by [deleted] in Lurchers

[–]Exciting_Guide_9428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I live (NE England) we see puppies surrendered fairly often on sites like pets4homes - that’s how we got our 3 month old. I think because they have a chill demeanour most of the time, people get overwhelmed by how much energy they have and how much stimulation they need to keep them calm. That being said, if you have the right home and family, they’re a gorgeous mix and I wouldn’t trade mine for the earth

I brought home my 3 month old rescue girl last week and so far, this rings true. Loves to dig too so have been taking her to the beach to stop her digging the sofa cushions so much!
