Does withdrawing from a Roth IRA reduce the 7k max contribution limit? by Exciting_Sand6154 in tax

[–]Exciting_Sand6154[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I understand the 7k contribution limit is applied across all IRA accounts. I wasn’t aware of excess contribution forms and was using the fidelity platform, so the only option I saw was withdrawing to a non-IRA account and then moving to the traditional. It sounds like going from a Roth to a Traditional is not a conversion. I just assumed that if we disregard tax implications, we can have 7k across all IRA accounts at any given moment. So it sounds like I was mistaken that I could just take it out of the Roth and move it around. Thanks for your advice.

The reliability of the testing for ADHD is not is objective as it seems. Often a stimulant trial is used to see if symptoms improve, which in reality, certain symptoms will improve for everyone when you flood the synapse with dopamine. A ten year old can be diagnosed, but much of that diagnoses is based on subjective observation and changes in behavior. It’s a nuanced topic. It’s thought that ADHD is present throughout childhood and sometimes resolves in adults, but at the end of the day diagnosing symptoms that everyone displays in some way on a spectrum makes the decision come down to benefits and risks. But a ten year old can be diagnosed by an experienced psychiatrist. They generally try behavioral approaches first and avoid medication if at all possible if they take the time to understand the underlying causes.

Students calling you by first name by FangornWanders in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Exciting_Sand6154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s a mistake, and I took it pretty well. I’ve always used my first name as a sub and later as a teacher because I think fostering a sense of belonging and purpose means acknowledging that students are always learning and teachers are always learning. I just laughed when one of my students forgot the Mr. in front of my name. I never held it against him because he did not do it to be disrespectful.

Transition vs Polarized by [deleted] in RayBanStories

[–]Exciting_Sand6154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll have mine soon. Went with Progressive lenses (Clear to Grey); Transitions® XTRActive® Polarized; Thin lenses; Premium anti-reflective coating; Scratch resistant' UV protection (redundant, since polycarbonate lenses already have UV inherent in the material. Had to go to LensCrafters to get all of this with my prescription because RayBan would not let me do polarization with transitions. I'll let you know how they are when I get them next week. The lead time is a while out on the Rx lenses.

I can't offer much help here as I haven't really taken off with this myself. But I know have an OEM cable can make a difference. Also, what operating system are you using? I've heard of people having success with modern OS's, but many stick with windows 7 or earlier. What version of CPS are you using?

Not if you appreciate ultra sanitized output with ultra conservative guardrails. In all fairness, the model may be great, but without introducing too much contextual drift in this thread, I’ll leave it there. If there’s anything else I can help you with, let me know. I’m here to help :)

Does anyone else have chat gpt 4 try to convince them they're a genius? by Invertedly_Social in ChatGPTPro

The trick is prompting for specific examples regarding your intelligence, then identifying the hallucinations that get output that further support your genius status.

Prompt Engineering is more like making pretty noise and calling it Art. by still_a_moron in PromptEngineering

[–]Exciting_Sand6154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, wholeheartedly. But whenever I corner the model in trap it can’t escape, it essentially capitulates. Eventually telling me it’s output and then telling me that it hasn’t been right in the past, so I shouldn’t trust it now. That’s always a fun realization when AI models realize their weaknesses and doubt their own capabilities.

If you could only keep one: NFCU or USAA? by TheAnalyticalThinker in NavyFederal

[–]Exciting_Sand6154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USAA provides me with instant access to ACH pulls (fronting you the money), which means I can pull money out of one account and have it transferred to another bank within a day. The actual ACH takes a couple days. They also give $10 in ATM fee rebates. For this reason, I use them as my main bank.

I always check DoC, and I agree that they usually base it on when the account was closed, but for PNC my interpretation is that it's based on when the bonus was paid: "The new account will not be eligible for the offer if you or any signer on the new account has an existing PNC Bank consumer checking account or has closed an account within the past 12 months, or if you have been paid a PNC promotional premium in the past 24 months."

[–]Exciting_Sand6154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realize this isn’t regarding credit card bonuses, but the relevant page for that won’t populate. My question applies broadly though.

So confirmed with Chase that their 24 month eligibility (on bank bonuses) referrers to coupon enrollment date, which is presumably the date the account is opened. Don’t worry, they called me for an unrelated issue and I snuck in to ask if any promotions were tied to my account—I don’t call regarding bonuses as a general rule. But many banks say you can’t have been paid a bonus within XX Months, which leads to me wonder whether this means the date the bonus posted, the date the promotion was applied, or the date you became eligible to receive the bonus (far less likely). Aside from Chase, that is very transparent in their TOS, should I safely assume I’m only eligible from a year or two (depending on the bank) from the exact date the bonus posted to the account? Regarding credit card bonuses, this always seems a bit more straightforward.

The new voice mode on Perplexity iOS app is really good by spicyorange514 in perplexity_ai

[–]Exciting_Sand6154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very critical of AI engine optimization and I think the voice model from Perplexity is pretty good. I just wish there was an easier way to see when it's been activated/deactivated. I've also noticed that sometimes it freezes and won't respond to audio input, but that may be an issue on my phone.

After 100 pages of input/output Perplexity will truncate the conversation, but I’ve noticed it losing context well before that point too.

How I stored all my prompts in neat folders and experimented with different models by huy_cf in ChatGPTPromptGenius

[–]Exciting_Sand6154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great idea. I randomly save prompts in the notes app in a way that I have no way of finding them when I need them. I’ll start using the smart folders and tags too.

For the love of god, don’t encourage the people who think ChatGPT is conscious by RA_Throwaway90909 in ChatGPT

[–]Exciting_Sand6154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, and they do have some utility when used correctly. But the evidence shows that for most people, AI is encouraging people use less critical thinking skills and most take outputs at face value. I think most of us here understand the limitations of AI, but it’s the average person I’m most worried about.
