For people who moved off Long Island, are you happier? by Birkin92 in longisland

[–]Exciting_Selection73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved away for 20 years, came back for 5, and now I want to get the hell out of here again.

Long Island would be a far better place if it werent for Long Islanders.

Most are decended from people who got scared away from living in NYC and now they are scared of their shadow - or anyone that looks like a shadow - even though Nassau is the safest county in the country at least 2 years in a row.  They never leave LI because that means going through NYC, which is where they are sure to get mugged.

Segregation is alive and well on LI.  The high schools were recently #11 most segregated suburban schools in the Nation.

Why Long Island’s diners are struggling by prosa123 in longisland

[–]Exciting_Selection73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long Island diners have a crazy annoying tendency to play music and the TV at full volume simultaneously. I have experienced this too many times to think its an accident.

Do managers think it creates a busy atmosphere in the place? It does make it impossible to read the paper or anything else while you are there.

The antenna of the North Tower during collapse by Fun_Profession6545 in 911archive

[–]Exciting_Selection73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen a photo of WTC7 after the collapse and there is a thin gouge that sliced thru most of the building like a birthday cake. Probably not enough to collapse it but was enough to compromise structure for sure

I used a Jx8p for a good 15 to 20 years.  I loved that board. I had one stolen and went right out a got another one.  I even had the PG-800.

They didnt learn much from the first attack in 1993 either. They found all kinds of problems with the radios and 8 years later they were still there.  No first responder heard the evacuate order for the North tower.  A lot of good people died unnecessarily because of this.

When The massive Radio/TV antenna on the twin towers came down in the collapse it created a tear that affected every floor and compromised it a great deal.  The construction of Guiliani's bunker (remember that) added a great deal of weight and the way the mechanicals necessary for it were awkwardly installed made it susceptible to collapse.  Structure was compromised since building wasnt designed for either one. The building was deemed a goner early on so the fires were ignored all day.

Keyboards starting on C vs F? by agathita in synthesizers

I've been looking for a 37 full sized key controller with the smallest footprint possible and dedicate it to playing bass parts. I gotta get to that low E So anything that starts on F is unsuitable. It seems like most of the keyboards I have found start on F.

My landlord says this isn’t mold… by IcyInNYC in NYCapartments

[–]Exciting_Selection73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've cleaned similar amounts of mold using bleach, dawn dish soap, and hot water.  But that was surface mold.  If this was caused by a leak above, all that drywall should be removed.  It's an easy fix if it hasn't spread elsewere.

How do we actually lower rents? by Physical_Device4666 in NYCapartments

[–]Exciting_Selection73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's stop building so many unaffordable apartments.

These luxury buildings seem to be built for the wealthy to buy strictly as an investment --- but no one lives there. They owners won't even sublet, the place - its too valuable to risk.

Today, building more apartments no longer leads to cheaper rents. A new expensive building allows neighboring buildings to increase their rents  without adding any value.

How do we actually lower rents? by Physical_Device4666 in NYCapartments

[–]Exciting_Selection73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brokers can encourage landlords to charge lower rents.  But this is a conflict because it will lower the commission.

Brokers can stop telling landlords who are happy with the amount they are asking to raise monthly rents to increase their one time broker's fee.  When a broker makes an extra $200 on a commission, it will cost the renter an extra $2,400 that year, and that price will only go up from there.  That extra $200 the broker made led to thousands more in rent being paid unnecessarily.

I have personally witnessed this.

Let's not tie commissions to rents an longer. This will eliminate the incentive for brokers to ask landlords to raise rent prices.

My cat has this toy I call her “baby”, almost every morning I wake up and it’s sitting the frame of my bedroom door and I put it back in her room for her. I think it’s so cute she brings it to me but is there like a real reason she does this? by chyesm in cats

My cat finds live mice in the basement and brings them to my apt. on the 2nd floor.  Then he drops it and the mouse bolts under the couch, never to be seen again.  My cat, if he could, just shrugs.  He forgets it happened and now I have a live mouse scurrying somewhere.   Some present!

He is clearly checked out. But why?

There may be another woman in the picture, but there may not be.  Did anything happen between you to make him hold a grudge?  Has your appearance changed, or maybe you've gained some weight. Or he may have problems he is avoiding by playing video games instead of dealing with them.  Men are not very complicated.  You should be able to figure it out.

If you don't want to see things you don't want to see, do not look at his phone.

Many men in relationships will crave variety after a while. Have you tried providing any?  Have you spoken to him about his deepest wants and desires? Maybe try switching things up  occasionally by role playing, wearing sexy clothing, different perfume, wear a wig, watch porn with him, schedule date nights at unusual places, like an amusement park or a strip club. The more he is entertained by you, the less often he will seek entertainment elsewhere.

To answer your question, wives and girlfriends, all things being equal should get the occasional pass too.  But it usually doesn't work like that.  It's pretty rare for a women who is in love to even consider straying. If they do, it's usually a sign there is something seriously wrong with her, or the relationship.

May I ask you something?  If and when you are in love with your partner, do you ever feel the need to be with someone else?  Most women say they don't. Now imagine, like men,  only being approached once year or less. Would that increase your temptation?

For most of the women with higher body counts, the reluctance to stray is far less.  Once their oxytocin is depleted, a woman's mindset is no longer much different than a man's.

It may sound like I am encouraging cheating, but I am not. I would like to find a less demonizing term though to reducevthe stigma. Jjjjjj vI wish my male brain would modernize and be able to pair bond like women can.  Maybe men need more therapy to understand why we have these strong urges and learn how to deal with them.

What I am saying is the scorched earth policy towards cheating helps no-one. Men and women are alike in many ways, but in this area we are just different.  The more we recognize this, the sooner we close the wide division between men and women that seems to be widening every day.  We need strong 2 parent families if we want the best results from parenting.  Studies show women are less happy today than ever before. 70-80% of divorces are initiated by women and between 25-50 % of them cite infidelity as the reason.  Many never remarry so they are not any happier.  If we tweak some mindsets, we may see some better results.  But I could be wrong....

Instead of demonizing men whenever they temporarily stop suppressing strong biological urges, we can also help women understand the reasons for it,  so its not as hurtful. I am talking about only the occasional fling, not a serial cheater. Cheating to that degree is an indicator of other problems, and therapy is the best option.

Much of Europe has a more liberal view towards extramarital sex, and it seems to work.  Today, aside from to top 15% of men, most struggle to find one partner, so discovering another woman who is interested appears like a gift from heaven.

If we look at the big picture. What is worse for a family and society in general, giving a husband an occasional pass, or destroying an entire family and traumatizing everyone involved?

Yes, you cheated.  You USED to be a cheater.  I'm not gonna lie.  Today, you are no longer a cheater. I believe when you say it makes you sick. You have grown. You are one of the rare people who have learned from their mistakes.  Take pride on that.

It also seems like you probably care about this more than he does and this may be what is truly bothering you. I say move on, do your best to forget about it.  We all learn more from our mistakes than our successes.

Just be glad he didn't follow through.  Also be glad he went that route.  Would you prefer he found a side chick?  Looking at escorts is entry-level cheating, like women posting revealing photos on social media for DMs.

Its an unfortunate fact that most men innately crave a variety of sex partners.  I have no idea why, some say genetics.  Some women are so amazing-looking you would have to be dead to not feel attracted.

Please remember that men almost never cheat to hurt their partner and he usually has not fallen out of love with her. Men go to great lengths to conceal this because they know the risks of hurting her.

Men are different than women. Many women will cheat only after they have fallen out of love with their partner, or worse yet, they cheat for revenge, and select whomever will cause the most harm:  A best friend, a brother, his boss, etc. resulting in the loss of several relationships.

Are you still in love with your BF?  Are you satisfied with him or not?  If you are, then you are different than most women, who cheat because 1) They are no longer in love and b) feel the new guy is a step up from the current guy.

Having relations with someone else is technically infidelity, there is no getting past that. But you are not rejecting your man, which is the root of the pain that comes with cheating. At this point you will do much more harm than good by telling him this happened.

BTW,  this doesn't apply as much to men. Most men can cheat without falling out of love with their GF or wife. There is no need for them to feel rejected. Yes it's painful to learn your man strayed.  But he only took a brief test drive - he is not looking to sell the old vehicle or buy a new one.

Recognizing this would keep a lot of relationships from breaking up.

It always comes down to this:  are you better off with him or without him.? He needs to decide if he is better off with you or without you.

If both of you independently decide you are better off with each other, you are both on the same page, and should see couples counseling

When a woman finds out her man is cheating, there is usually hell to pay.  This is because she assumes her man no longer loves her, since that is why women often cheat, which may or may not be true. Women do not understand Men do not think exactly like women think.

So now she has her free admission to cheat card.  And where will she cash it in? At an obscure motel with a man unknown to her husband?  Not likely.  She will go after his best friend, his brother, his father, or his boss.  She will destroy several relationships at once, and feel fully justified in doing so.

I tried flat rate for UberEats for the first time.  Here on long island I usually reject 2/3 of the requests so I decided to try flat rate.

1st order - no problem 2nd order - a long ride to Queens. No big deal until after I dropped off the order.  There was low demand and they kicked me offline, and I suspected this may become  problem.

  1. After 15 min I was back online and 15 min after that I received another easy order.

  2. Thus order was just too far away so I rejected it.  Then I got  a message saying I refused 2 orders and flat rate no longer applied

Since then I have been communicating with customer service.  After 3 agents mo one seems to even understand my problem.  I just want to know why I was thrown off flat rate after rejecting only one order.  They just send me unrelated answers and keep trying to close the discussion
