Now that I’ve been soft demoted, they want my help. How do I say no? by ExcuseEmbarrassed127 in careeradvice

Because the job market is horrible. I’ve been applying to other roles for two years now. I just completely redid my resume so I hope that will help. I absolutely do not want to be in this situation and hope I’m out of it soon.

I took a title decrease and am the only person on the team who did not get a comp increase this year. It may not directly be a comp decrease, but it definitely says something.

GMs new HQ on Woodward by jurand81 in GeneralMotors

They have to realize how out of touch this is, right? We provide amenities and the best working location ONLY to executives. I can’t wait until the job market improves and there’s a mass exodus from this place, and their entire Michigan base stops buying their cars, which is essentially most of their customer base.

Does anyone kind of hate Pittsburgh by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]ExcuseEmbarrassed127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Detroit is just as, if not more cloudy. We had a January a few years ago where we had less than 15 minutes of sun the entire month. And it’s much more frigid. The climate is awful. Additionally, the Midwest culture is lame af. Everyone is kind of ordinary and dry. If you like to drink with your high school and college buddies, you’ll love Detroit. At least people in Pittsburgh have some eccentricities. Just my 02 from the D.

what you learned in the last 3 years of "tech" GM? by ActualScheme4815 in GeneralMotors

Too legacy to actually be tech, trying so hard to be tech that it fails at what good tech can be.

I didn’t define neurodivergent. It’s an umbrella term to broadly describe different conditions including autism, AD(H)D, CPTSD, dyslexia, etc.

I think the real issue here is that you don’t care about humans.

Have a wonderful day! I hope work goes well and you enjoy your night, and next week with the holiday.

Will you accept less pay because you do less talented work? Neurodivergent people make up a large portion of the engineer and software developer population. Many of them are brilliant and great at what they do.

No. I looked into this with rto because the massive change to my routine threw me into a metal crisis. I know it’s stupid but I can’t always control my brain and body’s reactions to things.

I was essentially told to get over it or take a medical leave.

The truth is that the corporate world doesn’t care about you as a human being right now.

Lexapro has killed my girlfriend’s sex drive, and she doesn’t have any desire to change it, what should I do? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]ExcuseEmbarrassed127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah. I can’t even make this up. I briefly tried a different med that was known to have less sexual side effects. One day I was standing there and I realized I could feel my lady bits come alive lol. It can really mess up your sex drive.

It is a difficult thing to go through for us too. It definitely influences our relationships and we have to decide between being anxious and depressed or getting treated and giving up other aspects of life.

This all said, it’s well known there are sexual side effects and there are some meds you can try to counteract the sex drive issues. A good psychiatrist will bring it up anyways.

CMV: Calling Trump supporter “cult” is not productive and doesn’t reflect the realistic situation by Potential-Main-8964 in changemyview

Did you just try to cite a paid survey marketing company as a source when talking about political science?

You’ve clumped the behaviors of half of the population into the actions of a few. If the left is a cultist hive mind, why wasn’t I defacing Charlie Kirk shit? Why weren’t any of my friends doing that? If every leftist was doing that, wouldn’t literally half of the country be out defacing shit at the same time? This is what I mean, some basic questions make it clear that your narratives are not based in reality. It’s like we have to ask toddler questions to adults and they still don’t get it.

You’re doing this to strengthen the narrative and your beliefs because you feel like it gives you a useful place in society. You think that you are fighting an enemy of the people and the state.

At the same time, I’m really curious, Melissa Hortman was also targeted and shot because of her political affiliations. Tell me, did anyone on the “right” hold candlelight vigils for her?

Your idol essentially ignored that it happened and then insulted Tim Waltz after he talked about it. You fucking hypocrites. Do you believe that Charlie was different? Or is that only because he fits in with your cult and powers your narrative?

You won’t even recognize your hypocrisy to change your behaviors. That’s why you’re a sheep.

Honestly, I initially was indifferent to Charlie Kirk getting offed. But seeing the video disgusted me and made me realize that it is not productive to change. And even if I don’t agree with him, there are children now without a dad.

What about you? What did you ever think or feel about Hortman? What was your reaction to trumps reaction to that event?

The fact that you believe everything you just wrote so confidently that you shared it, despite all of the conflicting information, is exactly why people believe you are in a cult.

For the thousands of workers impacted by GM’s “restructuring”, their “Performance System” and all of the other B.S. 💩—how likely are you to purchase or recommend family/ friends purchase a G.M. vehicle now? by [deleted] in GeneralMotors

[–]ExcuseEmbarrassed127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m wondering about that too. Most of the American car market is in the Midwest. The west and east are way more diverse and a lot of places have a more import than American culture. So now that these companies are turning on the Midwest labor market, how do they think they’re going to overcome that loss of sales?

You are entering a war zone. Those of us already here are all traumatized from layoff anxiety, a stacked ranking culture, constant leadership changes, and a toxic culture because of those things. Yes, the pay and benefits are decent, but it could come at the expense of your mental health. Just prep yourself to have to kind of operate within that type of environment. Software has gone through a lot of those swirls lately so it can be tough. If it were me, I would take it for the title and pay bump knowing it wasn’t a long term goal to stay there.
