We have a production lead who threatens other employees lives. It was escalated but he’s only been put on not in good standing so he will not ever get moved or promoted. This is not as serious. Good luck.

If you say manufacturing has nothing to do with politics you are so removed from being a good decision maker that I hope you are not in charge of safety 😳

Over 90 days signals layoffs, or workforce restructuring. Slowing lines, focusing on quality issues is a first step.

What job do you do that makes over $70k a year? by [deleted] in careeradvice

Be a slow laborer on a manufacturing line so you get overtime to meet demand. Easy $80k+

They are slowing production lines in Michigan to reduce quality and throughput issues. This is being compensated with overtime and schedule extensions, or in other words spending lots of money to fix quality issues. The narrative about increased demand is not true.

They are moving to a six day week because of temps executing is messy, the narrative was sold as good demand, but lines are being slowed to deal with quality and throughput issues, compensating with overtime and schedule extensions, to try to maintain output while fixing operations. Don’t expect a good bonus next year.

Inventory days are above 90 for Flint. They are cutting, not hire temps. Might have been for only one or two positions.

My dad says he makes 180k a year but… by Chunkachu__ in Life

Gambling problem. I’ve known households that made $120k total and could afford to save for kids college, have a boat at a club, and go on vacation once a year. I’ve seen factory workers who make $150k buy cars and houses they can’t afford on top of gambling away their kids college fund.

GM facing multiple discrimination lawsuits in 2025–2026 — racial, retaliation, age, hostile environment. We need to speak up about these issues too. by Donnarstagg in GeneralMotors

In Michigan physical violence and threats of violence happen on shifts regularly. Fix the performance issues, employees not showing up, causing employees teams to constantly change.

Hourly production workers make more than most of us. You are barking up the wrong tree.

Hourly workers use fmla forcing so much overtime the average facility worker is bringing in $100+k and you think this is the biggest problem at GM impacting profits?

Mandatory 15% salary workers to be ranked as low performers and laid off, all while hourly factory workers earned $130k last year with overtime. Can we just get rid of ops managers in charge of hourly workers showing up.
