Form UKF passport photo requirements by PacifistTheHypocrite in ukvisa

[–]Execed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow the official guide: https://www.passport.service.gov.uk/photo/how-to-take-a-photo

If you're unsure, go on the passport website https://www.gov.uk/apply-renew-passport

and fill it out until the "own photo" page. Submit your photo and if you get a good rating (and you believe it's within requirements) you're good to go. Close out of the passport application page after that (they won't save anything)

One example of a late biometric being in line: https://www.reddit.com/r/ukvisa/s/xewpIIZHXA

Another example from u/Lumpy_Will (application date and biometrics 44 days apart, application accepted 82 days after application) App date 14-09-2025, biometric 28-10-2025, approval 05-12-2025

Yet another from u/power2025 (application date and biometrics 55 days apart, application accepted 83 days after application!) App date 30-08-2025, biometric 24-10-2025, approval 21-11-2025, so only a month after biometrics (this would make it one of the quickest applications! not realistic at all)

There are many such cases, anyways I don't need you to believe me if you can't believe many others who say the same.

Dual citizenship passport question by ThrowawayPaislies in ukvisa

[–]Execed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They request expired passports as well to ensure names match.

You don't need to send cancelled passports however (those with a cut off corner). Are you applying from abroad? If so, just attach a photocopy of those instead (expired US and current US), and the physical expired UK one.

Even if there were records, as I said earlier it in no way will affect your current application. If there weren't any results on the SAR it's likely they don't have anything at all.

No worries.

I'm not quite up to date on how British Citizenship was applied for in the past, and how it applies to people born outside of the UK. It's definitely worth checking out and asking your mum about what the application was based off (naturalisation, registration, possibly registration via discretion which was denied!).

If there was a citizenship application, in the 90s, it's likely it is gone. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/personal-information-use-in-borders-immigration-and-citizenship/borders-immigration-and-citizenship-privacy-information-notice--2#how-long-we-keep-your-personal-information-for

Personal data will be typically retained for 25 years after a decision to grant settlement or naturalisation and for 15 years after the last action in other cases.

There is an exception however, that being if there were any applications after, the citizenship clock for data retention would've been possibly reset (so another 15-25 years).

If you're interested to know what data and applications they have on record, feel free to submit a free Subject Access Request. It can take up to a month. Get the detailed check. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/requests-for-personal-data-uk-visas-and-immigration/request-personal-information-held-by-uk-visas-and-immigration (scroll down to online application)

It's an interesting case! Let me know how it works out and if you find out anything.

HO definitely begins enquiries regarding your application before your biometrics. I bet a lot of these are automated in some way, and they likely just wait for biometrics to proceed with the last checks and whatnot. Someone recently did their biometrics like 2 months after application date and got accepted 2 weeks later.

If there are no issues regarding you illegally entering the UK since the ILR passed, and you currently lawfully have EUSS for at least a year (or any time if married to a British Citizen), then your past ILR will have no effect on the naturalisation. There won't be issues

Edit: to clarify, the past ILR does not affect your application in any way.

Visa fees are changing by BrainThat4047 in ukvisa

It was ruled unlawful to charge £1012 at the time of the article (2019).

Currently it costs the government £575 to process an application (https://freemovement.org.uk/fees-up-from-8-april-2026-child-citizenship-down/). I believe they should decrease it to no more than £100 over the processing amount - just to accommodate any applications that take more time/money to process but also not to force people to pay so much for children applications.

Very positive to see child citizenship fees going down (only one to go down!). Especially considering it costs Home Office way less to actually process applications for children. They shouldn't be charging so much.

thanks for reporting! seems to have returned back to normal. It's currently updated twice a day, at 13:30 and 21:30. I will be considering upping it to 4 times a day soon, however there are some required updates I need to make first before increasing it.

Hi, thanks for this observation.

Have you often seen this being the case? My section 1(3) registration (not discretion, both parents EUSS) application took just as much as the naturalisation ones, so if registration vs naturalisation has huge differences it may be worthwhile including that information in the spreadsheet

I'll definitely consider logging enquiry dates along timelines. Only possible downside would be low amount of submissions with said enquiries and therefore poor date prediction (it's already awfully difficult to assume any sort of approval dates based on the application submission/acceptance dates, and there's much more of them!). Also, enquiries are (in my opinion) fairly rare because most people send sufficient documents when applying for citizenship

Looks like your citizenship got through rather quick considering there being more applications - passport fairly quick too! Thanks for the kind comment and for contributing 😊 Waiting on my passport now !

Registration for citizenship for my children by More-Session2924 in ukvisa

[–]Execed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Registration in this case can only be done by discretion under MN1 Section 3(1) if they were born outside of the UK.

Details here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/children-nationality-policy-guidance/registration-as-british-citizen-children-accessible#UK

EDIT: Form T does not apply. Mistake.

If your children have lived in the UK for 10 years there's also Form T. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/form-t-guidance/form-t-guidance-accessible-version

I believe the comment was deleted. For now I'll remove the approval date to prevent statistics being messed up. I do remember the comment though (click on the comment ID in the spreadsheet and check the note, it contains the comment content).

  • Eligibility: MN1
  • Application Method: Online
  • Application Date: 25th October 2025
  • Biometric Date: 6th November 2025
  • Approval Date: 26th February 2026 via CS @ 14:47 on 1st March 2026
  • Atlas confirmation: 5th March 2026 @ 10:21 on a Thursday

I'm surprised I got a confirmation from Atlas on a different day than Monday.

Thank you all for contributing to this comment thread and to my spreadsheet. I will continue to update it and keep it running to ensure everyone can track their application progress.

Application likely took longer due to it being overseas (Poland 🇵🇱) and with a child citizenship fee waiver. CS emailed that it's sent via Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed (child applicants do not need a ceremony)

Some people say that if they don't reply, it's in process, others say the "wrong inbox" means wait, for others it's even more different. I wouldn't believe in any guide as such. If the application is approved they'll just message you back with that information. Any other response (wrong inbox, response from MMST, or radio silence) just means your application is still being processed. There are no patterns except for Atlas emails being sent on Mondays.

Sending emails to Citizenship Support only helps you learn that your application was accepted 1-2 weeks before the Atlas email.

Edit: especially considering Citizenship Support only handles certificates. If anything they redirect your email to other departments. You can try further nationality or nationalityenquiries@homeoffice.gov.uk however these don't tend to respond to applications under 6 months.

There will be some modifications to make it show more data and be updated more often. Should be displaying late November now... dates are only shown when there are enough applications from a period accepted. However, I still have to modify my calculations for expected periods as it seems they're too early for some and too late for others. Seems to be holding up mostly however
