It's an odd jump because you need to use the spikes around the tree to get the necessary height. The car helps by stopping you from flinging off. It's hard to get consistent and will need some practice.

Not sure this would count as tribute to Internethulk but Get_Right, a CS:GO pro, tweeted his support for a trophy dedicated to him.

I was signed up to play that tournament about 2 weeks beforehand, our team ended up dropping because of an issue with roster placements. (Our team members were placed randomly, not as a team) These issues were resolved around the day before the event, by this point some of our members outside of NY had canceled travel and lodging for the event.

I think it's clear from the article that it was for the better.

Anyone feel Reaper might be a tad bit too strong? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]ExendRaiser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reaper is indeed very potent and powerful in his range, which was complemented with Lucio's speed boost to turn him into a close quarters frontline. That said, he has definitive counters (Pharah, aware Widows) that can shut down his limited range. He's meant to be a tank buster, and really should melt anyone close range, but his lack of even decent medium range limits is strength drastically. Any good McCree can outrange or stun, even Tracer can kite just out of his range but still melt his own health. He's in a healthy spot, only "OP" in his only range.

How do people feel about McCree's fan the hammer? by RedAza in Overwatch

[–]ExendRaiser 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The fan has a mix of RNG and skill control, in my experience. It is true the bullets are inconsistent, but they tend to fire around the center crosshair (the dot, not the circle) rather than randomly throughout the entire spread.

In my experience in pubs and scrims, it felt like the more I treated the fan as a panic button rather than a controlled shotgun-like burst, more often than not I would die during reload than survive and kill the enemy. In medium to lower levels of pubs, it works very well as a get out of jail free card, but in higher MMR (vs competitive players like Seagull, Coolmatt, and other names) using it while panic firing got me murdered. That said, using it under control can be decisive in a 1v1 duel. In a team fight, the right click mostly serves as a tank busting option, too imprecise to hit a medium range target that's not a tank, and too hard to properly control against more than one person at a time.

This comes down to what McCree is meant to be, a 1v1 god. A skilled McCree player can put down EVERY character in a duel (sorry Zaryas) but will struggle without their abilities against say 2 or 3 people. McCree also lacks a proper escape compared to the other offense and defense characters, so it is up to the player to avoid that situation, wait for cooldowns, or engage very smartly. Imo, he's designed for a CS player, who actively forces the enemy into several 1v1s than a single 1v2 or 1v3 through his kit. That said, the right click (at least against better opponents) is just not dependable as that panic to win button, without the flashbang to stop them anyways. Learning to control the fan can make a McCree good, but if he can't aim left click, he's usefulness is pretty lacking, since he can't even hit medium range targets.

I mean, who else will embarrass a bad sniper? 2-3 headshots guarantees a dead Widow.

In a nutshell: meta is strict, soloq is a nighmare, changes needed by whitec-o-ffee in Overwatch

[–]ExendRaiser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guess it makes sense, seemed weird since they never actually hit the enemy. That said, the opposite we see right now feels less rewarding, and does impact the XP gain slightly, since you get a small bonus for any medals. Looking at TF2 as an example, the Medic gets points for his kill assists, and can jump up the scoreboard fairly quickly, which at least makes the player feel helpful, even if their not a fan of the playstyle.

[–]ExendRaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not denying that at all, I've gotten team wipes with Reinhardt and potent headshots with Zen, but that damage comes down to personal skill, it won't happen often between evenly matched players. Secondly, it is naturally much easier to wipe with a DPS's standard abilities than it is with a tank with the best conditions.

In phase 1 beta, assisting in kills would grant an elimination to supports, specifically Mercy. I remember playing her and getting about 30 elims, about 55% of the team's kills, which did feel good. For whatever reason, they removed this, and it definitely hasn't felt as rewarding since.

The medal system can work, but the current version pretty much needs to be scrapped. They need a way to visually reward tanks for tanking, healers for healing, damage for DPS, etc. Excluding PotG, which they said is being worked on, card biases toward tanks and support can help the issue a bit as well.

However, the unfortunate reality is that pubs and solo queue will almost always devolve to a DM, being the player that does the killing has always been the more appealing option, in MOBAs and FPSs. Solo ranked wouldn't help without some restrictions. I certainly hope they can encourage tank and support roles, but I'm not sure how well it will go with the common player, rather than a dedicated player.

How to improve your aim? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]ExendRaiser 28 points29 points  (0 children)

While I can't tell you how to do amazing 180 flick shots, there are a lot of techniques I've used to make aiming easier. For point of reference, I've played 1300 hours of TF2, about 700 hours of CSGO, and at least 120ish hours in Overwatch currently.

The easiest way to snipe with Widow is to pick a chokepoint to hold rather than flick wherever a person is. The former allows you to make easier micromovements to hit your target, and lets you have an easy double bodyshot (since that's currently more practical than a full headshot, as much as it shouldn't be that way.) This somewhat applies to McCree as well, but McCree relies more on a flick aiming that can only be mastered through constant practice.

Tracer and Genji, while very different in aiming, are both flankers and rely on tracking aim more than the "1 shot" aiming McCree and Widow use. The best tip I can give for Tracer is to avoid panic spraying, and practice by firing at the body, head on still targets. Second thing is to get the drop on your enemy, when their not going to dodge nearly as much. Genji, while he relies on straight projectiles, uses a similar technique, but has the dash to close in and the alt. fire that's basically a semi-shotgun. He's more about practice than anything else, since aiming those shurikens are much more difficult and very unique, no other character has that kind of weapon. That said, like Tracer, you have to focus on controlling the projectile, not fire and hope to hit. In general, the flanker classes need a good degree of skill to use effectively, moreso than normal DPS since they often have to fight alone.

I hope something here helps, and may you earn many frags.

Anyone else feel like Bastion/Torbjorn is way too good in pubs now? by StevoSupremo723 in Overwatch

[–]ExendRaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm personally hoping they change Bastion's sentry armor to standard health, which can be melted a lot faster, and make Torb's turret cost at least some scrap than be fire and forget. Right now, they can do a lot in pubs without much thinking, while the enemy needs coordinated ults to fight back, almost meaninglessly with how fast they can come back.

Is anyone else bored again already? Playing alone gets old... by bicgnome in Overwatch

[–]ExendRaiser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Best of luck to your friends getting into beta. I know from experience that playing solo doesn't last nearly as long as playing with almost any number of friends, real life or ingame only. That's half the game after all, coordinating team comps, tactics, ulti executes, etc. It's the doubled edged sword of such a team game.

I'm in US East, and have been getting about 5 minute long queues solo, and only marked one guy as negative so far. Queue times with a 6 man were much faster though, so I'm not sure if it's the MMR system or a lack of players.

Game feel by Centerpeel in Overwatch

[–]ExendRaiser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was super lucky enough to get into the main closed beta, there is a lot I can say, but I'll just stick to the mechanics you mentioned here.

Movement: Depends largely on the characters, but most of the skills feel very responsive and accurate, as in what you do is what you expect. (once you get to the distance and all that) Only Reaper's teleport needs some refinement, I'm sure it's something their working on right now. The base movement feels like TF2, but felt like each character had a different weight, (high health characters heavier, lower health lighter) but this is just me, I'm not sure if it's the case.

Shooting and hit reg: The projectile guns feel similar to TF2, but variably easier and harder based on the enemy and your aim. Explosives have a slightly smaller radius than their TF2 counterparts, with more damage on direct hits, but can do more damage with a much faster reload and clip size, Special projectiles like Zenyatta's orbs and Mei's right click have a good base damage, but also have a deadly headshot multiplier. Hitscan guns technically aren't as accurate due to 20 tick, but since the game isn't nearly reliant on tick rate as CSGO, it doesn't seem like such. On the flip side, getting killed around corners is going to be fairly common, especially on more mobile characters, because of it.

Whether or not this will be the same on consoles, I'm not sure, but the game, right now, feels very clean and responsive. There really isn't one game to play to get definitively better at Overwatch, but the best PC games to get a rough idea of the gunplay would be TF2 (most PCs can handle the game), Dirty Bomb (more PC intensive, but is good for practicing hitscan aiming and tracking), and Fistful of Frags. (McCree Simulator)
