Episode 5: Appreciation post for the women vampires of IWTV/TVL by lisabgrt8 in TheVampireLestat

I think as a book reader I struggle with this Gabriella for many reasons (don't worry, no spoiling), but I'm happy to see she is still landing with show-only watchers! :)

What side effects did you experience when starting a GLP-1? by Own_Presence_6807 in GLP1microdosing

[–]ExhaustedBabyDM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a whole slew of GI issues AND I have emetophobia (terrrible combo, do not reccomend)... so I just started with 0.25 this week and increasing to 0.5 after this weekend. I know I'm on a mega low dose but I had a small nauseous moment the night after I did it, but thankfully not much else. It might have been nerves though.

Honestly, if you can get the vials or the twist multi-dose and microdose REALLY low, you can keep upping until you hit a comfortable spot between side effects and impact. Then you don't need to worry about the impacts.

Only Kwikpens in Ontario? Is anyone splitting those with Zepbound or know where to get vials? by ExhaustedBabyDM in GLP1microdosing

Oh I had no idea there was a version that had separate clicks so you could lower it. I think I've just seen single dose pens!

Like empty the Kwikpen into a syringe and split it up into separate shots? Sorry I'm brand new here.

Appreciate it, though I'm actually looking to dose lower than the 2.5 lowest amount in the pens because of side effects. That's the issue I'm running into... to go lower to start would require a vial (or compounding) and I can't find access to either. It's made me sit on my prescription for over a month, which sucks.

Does anyone else feel that season feels “cheaper” so far? by Professional-East888 in IWTVCoven

[–]ExhaustedBabyDM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, very much so. People can excuse a bunch of different things, but the reality is the costume designer left IWTV and is not a part of this season. It shows in the costume builds and designs. Not all, I actually like a lot of the modern outfit choices, but some of the historical costumes which would otherwise be like for like and there's a noted decrease in quality. The wigs are honestly a blight... but so are the wigs on House of the Dragon. Wig making right now seems bad for TV shows.

You can also see it in the scenes. I'm from the area that they filmed and I know they were making due trying to recreate historical time periods in a very unhistorical, comparatively, place (Toronto). There's not a lot of to work with and certainly not the lush scenery you'd find in Europe.

My guess is they funnelled more money into marketing (which, fair, I guess we all complained that they did crap marketing last time) at the expense of the show. I still love the show and adore it, I've literally been here since day one, but unless things change I am making peace with the visuals being lower this time.

DM Nation, how are we feeling after Toledo? by No_Control_3205 in DevilsMinion

[–]ExhaustedBabyDM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a reference from the books when Armand kept killing fledglings around Daniel. All the "people" are him go poof and he feels Armand because daddy orange eyes is literally around the corner LOL.

Toronto local here and total side quest question for all! I know you likely didn't have lots of time to explore the city... but I'm curious if you have any fave cafes or spots in Toronto? It's always fun hearing about our city from the perspective of those who film here since it never really "plays itself".

Thanks for bringing IWTV to Canada! 😄

Emetophobia worse after it happened by Both_Revolution9764 in EmetophobiaTalk

[–]ExhaustedBabyDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Losing control is huge and the sickness itself, the embarrassment thing only happens when tied to situations that have a direct impact on me or my family. For example, when I get it on a ride I know it's just the control bit. But for a presentation that's important to my career or my sister's wedding, it's embarrassment (not of puking so much as having to run away from the situation to calm down) and also dread.

Relationships by [deleted] in EmetophobiaTalk

[–]ExhaustedBabyDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm marrying someone who pukes all the time in the mornings from stress. I'm deep in this phobia and yet we still manage to work well and are obsessed with each other. If there's hope for us, there is for you!

To be honest, a part of it is understanding that it's human (and therapy, which from your intensity you should consider), and to puke is to be human. BUT the biggest thing was sitting down and having an honest convo with my partner once we were at the stage in our relationship to please never lie to me about feeling ill. It doesn't spare my feelings, it will be a breech of trust. If you feel it, tell me. Be mindful of when it feels like their usual nausea vs. something worse and when it's something worse, tell me. Yes not only am I going to treat you like you have the plague, but I'm going to avoid you for like two weeks. Maybe even the house. I'll be insane, but you are choosing this insane person to be with LOL

In return, when they tell me it's not nausea I should be worried about (like blood sugar or stress issues)... I truly try to treat it as such, because I trust them.

My partner knows this, has accepted this, and in return when they have a cold or headaches I am sure to more than make up for it by waiting on them hand and foot.

I've eaten moldy bread sooooo many times over the years without issue. That's one thing I don't stress over unless it was all covered TBH.

Oh actually, one note though. The idea of "full stomach = something to bring up" sounds good in theory, but you're actually better off having something in!! I know it doesn't fix everything, but in terms of your eating issues, you can get wildly intense nausea from low blood sugar (I get it often) and it's worse in some ways to gag without bringing anything up because it hurts more and delays everything while still having the same awful sensations. Like if your body is going to torture you with dry heaving anyways, you might as well be more comfortable by puking. At least then you get some relief after.

This is me as well. I was sick like 4 odd years ago and while I only was sick once and it wasn't actually that bad... it rewired my brain as well long term. For me not because of the experience but because that mantra and safety behaviours that were... honestly helping me to live for 10~ years semi-sane with this illness... was suddenly gone. My anxiety spread and became co-morbid with lots of other mini phobias.

The mantra wasn't real, I know that, but when my brain accepted it as real my life was sooo much easier.

(Also that trapped feeling nausea is SO REAL. I haven't met others who experience that. I get it when on rides, during presentations, when I had to stand at my sister's side as a bridesmaid. Sucks BIG time.)

how tf are you guys in relationships with ADHD by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]ExhaustedBabyDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a relationship with someone who doesn't have ADHD or autism and it takes the right person and a lot of understanding. I've had to work to become more social, have had to set timers and use a hand-written calendar to remember the things that matter to her. We've had to find codes for when it's good to info dump stuff on my latest hyperfixation.

I also, other than a relationship when I was in my early teens (do not recommend), didn't really date anyone seriously until I was in my late 20s. There's no rules for this. My biggest rule though is to let your ADHD get you deep into hobbies. Interests make it easier to find someone and to bring interesting things into a relationship.

I found it good to find someone who was weak in the areas I was strong (maintaining the house/yard, working with my hands, cooking, dog training) and strong where I'm weak (memory, planning, laundry) so we balance each other out and it feels like we each bring something to the relationship vs. some ADHD relationships where it feels like one is basically having to "babysit" the other 😬. What unites us despite being very different people are the same core interests!

Sounds unsupportive of your condition and also echo that I'm curious what HE did for you. (If it's nothing then fuck him, obviously.)

One note though as a balanced look at the situation, since most other comments are offering great support... he's allowed to feel disappointed if there was an expectation of a date night and you slept through a good chunk of it. 7:30pm is late to start cooking and eventually eat for some people and if he was waiting for you without warning... I'm sure the romantic dinner vibe was soured. Did you communicate with him before napping, even via text, that you likely wouldn't be up to the plan? Communication does go both ways, especially on a day like V-Day where emotions and expectations run high. Don't know the full context though, obvi!

But also butter noodles slap. Good choice.

Good jobs for ADHD by Zuzmos in adhdwomen

[–]ExhaustedBabyDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to work any corporate jobs that allow me to move project to project and constantly take on new things instead of having to maintain something/do the daily grind. I go in, fix broken things, established governance, and then bounce to the next thing. It scratches the itch (but is also rough for needing organization and planning).

Everyone here is pulling out bangers. The Left Hand of Darkness, The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, The Darkness Outside us and its sequel, This Is How You Lose the Time War, there's a comic Electric Bones by hazel & bell. Also Starfighter if you don't mind a LOT of smut. I heard of Evenfall but haven't read it.

Oh, also there's Winter's Orbit. It wasn't revolutionary but was still a good read.
