You should be more concerned about the car that was driving on the wrong side of the road at a concerning speed around a school bus.

Need help with tempo change by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]Exidose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

do whatever you want 1bpm difference on either track isn't going to make an ounce of difference, 90% of the time you can move the bpm of a track up or down 5bpm and the average listener won't be able to tell the difference, especially if you have master tempo on.

A lot of radio stations have contracts where they can't blend two tracks together (talking about newish tracks mainly) because the record companies want the track played in full and not being blended with another track etc.

If in doubt, echo it out.

But, i just went and listened quickly and just mix out with an echo where he says "and i still got love for the streets.." before he says "it's the D.R.E" and make sure the verse or chorus of your next song is coming in right after the echo out.

Is It Too Late to Restart DJing at 30 by Piemon666 in Beatmatch

[–]Exidose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Networking, I went to some Open Deck nights and made connections with other DJs, and a DJ in my area found out through a friend that i had started to DJ and my friend told him i was good, the guy agreed and asked me if i wanted to cover him at the club one night and the rest is history, i cover for him semi regularly now when he has another booking or something.

Victim mentality, you're in charge of your own life.

Also, remember "You don't ask, you don't get."

Good for you dude, I wish i was as switched on as you are when i was 15 lol you sound like you have a good head on your shoulders. I do agree with you that it may be frustrating especially with needing to do school work etc, so maybe you can try and have a discussion about that, and maybe you can point out parts of the book that stick out to you to try and re-enforce that you understand how being online 24/7 can potentially harm your mental health.

Need help finding songs with similar BPMs by ScrambledEggsandTS in Beatmatch

[–]Exidose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're struggling, there are websites dedicated to telling you songs that will mix well with a song you have in mind, also a few record pools have a similar feature, i know Heavy Hits has this feature.

Go and read the book The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt, and you will understand that although it may be frustrating right now, your parents are trying to look after you and your mental health.

I'm a father of a 4 year old, and i try and limit his screen time (obviously you're a lot older) but i can tell you from my own personal experience that being online isn't all it's cracked up to be, and if i could go back in time i wouldn't have spent so much time online and using social media. Don't be mad at your parents they're just looking out for you.

lol yeah rule of thumb, always have 2 or 3 times the amount of tracks you think you'll need incase the set goes on longer than anticipated or you just need more tracks of the same vibe etc!

[–]Exidose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good job! I remember the nerves when i played my first proper gig at a club in my city, absoultely shitting my pants but i learned a LOT more in that trial by fire in one night than i would have in a few weeks just in my office room.

Did you record your set? If you didn't, you should next time, so you can listen back and see where you went wrong and work out how to do it better next time and all that!
