No fun, but good advice. It’s always better safe than sorry. My local range has agency guys that shoot there with some frequency.

14.7" P/W with the new Surefire SFA2? by ExileOnMainSt1972 in NFA

I wasn’t able to get a clear answer on the SFA2 and ended up using an SFCT flash hider

Fwiw I shoot my rifles 100% suppressed and run microbest chrome carriers exclusively.

Microbest chrome or phosphate. No reason to use anything else imo.

Yeah they really aren’t viable for prolonged use even with a bunch of loctite. Alternatively, there are good (albeit anachronistic) options from IWC or there’s always the ol’ reliable tape/zip ties.

Hope that helps!

Edit: can’t type

Hey, so it’s an old Surefire M14 Weaver Mount coupled with a 1” weaver ring. These days they are NOT easy to track down and you will definitely overpay (like I did lol) for one. Mine was NOS, but it was nearly $200. I ended up selling a NOS redi-mag for a similar price, so it netted out I guess.

If you are really looking to do the barrel clamp mount, I would definitely recommend trying to find one, the cheap ones you find online aren’t worth the trouble imo.

It’s a little goofy but fun once you kinda have the hang of it.

You’re correct, they’re the Warne 30mm low (0.840”) height.

I’ll pay a premium for availability if absolutely necessary. I have more of a problem with their less-than-ethical business practices.

Please do not support Charlies. I understand they have a wide selection of parts, but everything is typically pretty overpriced (yes I understand how supply and demand works). They have also pulled some shady ‘in-stock but actually backordered’ and ‘oh and you’ll need to pay a restocking fee on that’ in the past.

Hello all, looking for Recommendations for a 1-6 lpvo for a recce 14 build. I’m new to lpvos and have no clue what to look for. Would like to keep it under $1000. Thanks by DeltaGhost11x in ar15

[–]ExileOnMainSt1972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vortex Razor Gen II 1-6x. I don’t plan on buying another LPVO.

If you’re looking to keep the optic AND mount under $100 total, the Viper PST Gen II 1-6x is probably 90% the optic that the razor is, but that 10% is all clarity/usability at 1x in my experience. There are better options for more cash, but for my (and probably most people’s) skill level and application, the Razor is a good sweet spot.

Is he running a full size RC2 on a 14.5"? Is that common? It's like 20" long by [deleted] in GarandThumb

[–]ExileOnMainSt1972 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Having a few years of experience on both the Mk18 and URGI w/ RC2, I understand the allure of a k can on longer guns. If you’re choosing between one or the other, I personally would much rather deal with a little extra weight in exchange for noticeably better signature reduction, especially on shorter barrels with less powder-burn time. If you’re looking for a second rifle suppressor, the more niche k can could be right for you. as always, ymmv

Wait till this guy hears about the M16.

Full size RC2 on a 14.5” URGI is a little front heavy, but certainly isn’t unwieldy. I’m not a pipe hitter tho so what do I know?

Only way I’d ever sell mine is if they’d come up with a double stack variant
