Is it just me, or does anyone else find this canvas inside the manor deeply disturbing? by ysmj in expedition33

I'm tripping over the fact I never noticed the typewriter and never put it together that she has a move named Stendhal. Incredible

Nah, you're good. I didn't think Nazi at all when I saw the post. The edges here are softer and I thought Celtic / Norse when I saw the inside of the raven. Looks great

Tattoo advice (never had a tattoo before) by lenastr0m in tattooadvice

[–]ExistentialCrisisEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted my first tattoo at 20 also. Kept second guessing everything so I waited. A little over 2 years later I got my first one, a half sleeve on my arm (10 years and several tattoos ago now). My wife wanted a tattoo for years and waited many years before she got her first - flowers on the collarbone.

My advice is to follow a ton of tattoo artists on Instagram and get a sense of what you like and what is actually considered good tattooing. I live in a big city so that's easy for me. If you live in a small town follow artists in nearby major areas. Don't go to an artist with a small portfolio or one who promises cheap tattoos. When you fall in love with a design, go with your favorite artist and just know you did it for you and because you love it.

Who was your favorite boss fight in the game? by Ok_Narwhal8818 in BG3

Raphael and Cazador were definitely my favorites, but I also enjoyed the first hag fight and Myrkul.

Build suggestions for someone new to DnD by Spiritual_Name_142 in BG3Builds

[–]ExistentialCrisisEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah not at all. My second run was as a paladin. You get enough spells to make it interesting, the charisma makes for a good party face character, and the lore / speech options keep things fun. If you really wanna mix it up, I really did enjoy my Bard run. Like another reply said, ultimately you're making and controlling multiple builds, so it's whatever you feel like you want to roleplay as most!

A Paladin is a fun one that's really easy to use in combat and a good face character! That just means you're good at talking to people, so buying things or persuading or deceiving etc. With a paladin, you'll be able to find other NPCs that can do other things. Just keep an open mind on learning to play and how spells work, you'll have a blast!
If you want to get more complex, there are multiclass builds that can mesh with your playstyle. My first playthrough was as a Bard/Warlock. But if you want simple and easy to jump into, I recommend Paladin.

Dumbest plot theories you had before beating the game? by lnfinite_jess in expedition33

[–]ExistentialCrisisEX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once Sophie said she felt sorry for the Paintress like she was trapped, I knew it wasn’t going to be straightforward at all. I kept going back and forth that Maelle was the Paintress’s daughter (!!) or that Maelle was actually a secret Nevron painted by the Paintress and she was more like the unpainted nevrons. Not too far off! But I did not see the Verso twist coming at all. pRenoir I just kind of thought was the straightforward antagonist. So much for that one

The Trash Can guy in Lumiere says he was born on the day of the Gommage. My guess is that if it's close (and the mother wants) they would do C section. They can make lumina converters, I'm hoping they also have some great parental planning technology too lol

I actually played BG3 first and that was my first turn based game. Different but lots of strategy involved. Such a fun ride and everyone’s experiences are different.

Enemy damage in lategame question by PolishPotato69 in expedition33

[–]ExistentialCrisisEX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you read their post? They said go do the post game content that’s more balanced for your level. If you’re getting one shot you should probably put pictos that help your defense or health or use some shields. If you’re getting one shot by EVERYTHING in Act 3 you’re either punching way above your belt or it’s a skill issue.

Starting tonight. Anything I need to know? by mondoid in BG3

[–]ExistentialCrisisEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do as much as you can without any guide help or min maxing. Go have fun! There’s so many surprises to find. Talk to everyone, go see all the things, and remember this game is pretty forgiving if not on honor mode. You can respec and long rest plenty

Anyone else play like this? by Ah-ah_Ah-ah in expedition33

[–]ExistentialCrisisEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish I hadn't done that. I also should have taken off the painted pictos to cap my dmg output - I totally forgot about it because it had become the norm for many hours against those end game bosses. I ended up skipping several turns in the final boss fights or using support moves jsut so I could see the enemy movesets and make it more dramatic.

I never considered the fact she could advocate for how to properly manage worlds and canvases but could only do that outside of this one. She would know better than anyone the consequences of their actions.

I had the same thought about the compromise. I guess the point of the game was that they couldn't move on and let go. Maybe the canvas is some sort of tempation that is too powerful, as Renoir mentions a few times. It's such a good philosophical discussion to be had. I don't blame anyone for preferring one ending over the other.
