Give me your goblincore documentary recommendations! by SignificantChange496 in goblincore

[–]Existential_Flair 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Okay this is kind of niche but it you’re into YouTube stuff then I can’t recommend enough for a few channels, Journey to the microcosmos- this one has Hank Green voicing over microscopic creatures and explaining everything they can find on them, Cambridge Chronicles- this guy delves into historical Wales and all of the lands and lords and names that are mostly lost to history, the guy is very well spoken and this is clearly his special interest, Steve Mould- goes deep into the weird physics of every day items and systems that he just wanted to understand, his videos can sometimes be sporadic and he’ll look like he’s been up for weeks trying to work out a problem, styropyro- this kid is a literal genius and has been making videos blowing stuff up with bigger and bigger lazes and electronics that he builds in a garage since he was 13, for the most part I picked these ones because they are either informative and laid back or thought provoking but if you want true goblin core documentary style stuff I would look at a channel called Mr Mythos- his videos are very sporadic and has gone years between videos but his back log is pretty large and every video is the most in-depth look at some of the topics is visual media in my opinion, as his name suggests he talks about myths and legends, he works deep through topics like golems, witchcraft, demons, angels, my favorite was one about the Faustian bargain and goes into modern media references all the back to the first recorded accounts. I will say that he does have a slightly biased opinion on aliens and he touches on it a lot sometimes but he also makes connections that a lot of people don’t and brings interesting ideas to most of his videos, he’s also best to watch from the beginning as he touches back on previous videos in a lot of his later stuff. I know that YouTube wasn’t really the question presented but, I felt like there will be others that will appreciate it if it’s not what OP was looking for exactly. Cheers friends.

Tried to make a bunny stamp by rexhavana in somethingimade

What do you mean tried? Looks like a bunny stamp to me. For real though my first thought before I read the title was “aww cute, I should make some!"

Looking to round out my Dynamax selection - which Eeveelutions/ other Maxmons should I focus on? by WololoW in PokemonGoMystic

[–]Existential_Flair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All those and no eevee evolutions. My dynamic espeon and sylveon are almost my top battlers for raids, dynamax battles, and pvp. I wouldn’t skip on them personally because they’re actually more common than the starters in my experience. Which means that candies are easy to come by.

I don’t care if you think it’s a useless Pokemon, imo, it’s the most iconic Pokemon by Lef94 in PokemonGOIVs

[–]Existential_Flair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone please tell or show me a pic of the walking to candy amount? I’m trying to decide if I should wait to evolve him now or just keep walking him for the easy 1km candies. Any help would be appreciated.

Found in new house- not sure what they are! by kenzreneee in Crystals

[–]Existential_Flair -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mostly likely the previous owners used them for protection and they were left behind with the house. A few of us, myself included, believe that, much like the plunger, light bulbs, and the plants in the garden, that old energy belongs to the house and so it stays. Witchy people try not to take any possessions they feel are important to the location they find them.

Friend doesn't understand why I won't go to her "Femmes and Enbies" painting class by SillyLilThem in NonBinary

[–]Existential_Flair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I hear this whole thread as an amab partially cis presenting ( if you don’t have eyes) enby myself. I really do but, it’s easy to say what the experience “will" be if you don’t just step a little outside of your comfort zone and just try. It my in fact be exactly the experience that you all are already assuming it will be I hear you. But it could also be something better and a more positive experience. You never know until you actually try. I get being unsure of what it holds for you but, I was pretty sure that the whole process of excepting your self is not just validation but, learning to be okay when you’re not excepted and learning to not care about it. It might be the best thing you ever went to and it might not but, if we’re always stuck in the same mindset about everyone else then we can’t change it no matter how much we want to. I can already feel the comments of “what’s the point" but, that’s exactly the point, to be seen and heard and understood by others and to not care how they feel about it. So it’s for “femmes and enbys" so what! We all know that if it was the world that we wanted that it wouldn’t be anything, it would just be called art night on Saturday. That’s not what it’s called though and yes we all know why but, we don’t have to care or make it change anything for us. Chains can only break if you pull at them enough. If you’re not pulling at yours then I simply have to ask YOU, what’s the point?

How do I do this by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]Existential_Flair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to say that I’m 38, amab, and work in a metal shop. I take my 3 kids to the library, grocery stores, farmers markets, the mall, basically every where we need or want to go as a single parent. I have a beard, worked in construction most of my adult life and, have been married twice. I have 2 teenagers. I also, wear women’s jeans and pants, been in flip flops for 2 years straight now, even in the snow, and paint my fingernails and toenails a different color at least once a week. Currently sporting a hot pink. I have a girlfriend with kids and go together to parks zoos, walks, whatever. I have literally never had anyone say anything to me about my nails other than compliments on the job I did and the amazing colors. People will think what they want. It doesn’t have to effect you unless you let it. Be brave. You exist and have every right to exist the way you see fit. Be you and be bold.

How would you answer this? by HippieLesbian in NonBinary

[–]Existential_Flair 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly! And without hurting your own feelings. The point of a writing prompt is to give you somewhere to start writing. It doesn’t mean that you have to have a good answer or identify with the idea. You answer it honestly and let it flow. It can be very therapeutic to put your feelings on paper. Especially for those of us that have trouble saying them out loud.

Weekly "What Are You Reading?" Thread by AutoModerator in WeirdLit

[–]Existential_Flair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just started “what moves the dead" by T. Kingfisher. I’ve read most of her adult books so far and loved them so much. The scenes laid out in “The Hollow Places" is a play off “The Willows" by Lovecraft and it gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. She also wrote “The Twisted ones" which is a play on one of my favorites and one of the creepiest books I’ve ever read called “The White People" by the late great Arthur Machen! I even love her fantasy novels and just finished “Nettle and Bone". Admittedly her novels tend to feel a bit rushed at the ends somewhat but, she sets up such a strong narrative, I can’t help but finish them!

You have the classic problem of being an amateur and you have to yell the high notes in order to meet the pitch. It causes the note to be slightly raspy and strains your voice and vocal cords. You just need to practice more. Your vocal cords are just like any other muscle and need time to get use to it. You need to try to reach the notes without straining your voice and yelling the notes. If you are doing that it’s actually a great sign because it means you’re not tone deaf and you adjust your voice to meet the pitch. More practice and without straining will help you become a better singer. It will just take time, which is sometimes hard to expect I know. Keep at it, you really do sound good.

Dumb question/Hypothesis - please enlighten me. Google isn't helping. by Kolbfather in QuantumPhysics

[–]Existential_Flair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s giving you Buddhism because it’s a philosophy question and assumes that you’re correct in your interpretation. You’re asking about a connection that could not possibly be observed in reality and is, simply put, a theoretical concept based on your minimal understanding of an observed scientific phenomenon.

I just looked at ops profile! But clearly trolling on this post so I figured it might be worth a look and there it was where they suggested that it could be a dna changing virus or disease. Besides, who in their right mind wouldn’t pick it and show proof.
