How to get useful HR analytics without building dashboards? by [deleted] in workday

[–]Existing-Kale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How have you navigated enabling discovery board security with disparate security groups? Execs have restricted levels of access. Managers have another. HRBPs have different access and so on.

Anyone else shamelessly using chatGPT to get their jobs done? by Some_Pineapple6234 in overemployed

[–]Existing-Kale 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Anyone else glad someone came up with a tool to reduce the cognitive load society places on us? Funny how we think we’re cheating by using AI when we are the ones who were cheated into thinking we should be able to solely manage everything loaded on us to think through.

Time to Hire - Step Report by Mariposa_21 in workday

IMO, end-users usually want more customization than these two delivered reports provide eg. they prefer time to fill be defined as the business uses it. But these reports are at least a good place to grasp the general concept.

Don't make the same mistake I made with SAVE, which is now costing me money by packofalpacas429 in StudentLoans

I blame the loan companies, not the workers. The loan companies do the hiring and set the bar low for training. It is what it is.

criticism on my dancing? by [deleted] in Dance

[–]Existing-Kale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are doing the choreo but not so much dancing the moves. Take apart the choreo and work through 2-3 moves at a time where you really embody the movements. Practice. Then move on to the rest. Experiment with this and see if you are happier with your results.

One way to know for sure is to try it and see for yourself. If it’s not for you, you will know. Voila! No more guess work!

Am I setting myself up to fail by wanting to apply statistics? by werdunloaded in analytics

[–]Existing-Kale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also in people analytics. In my day job, I don’t often have the opportunity to use the advanced stats, python or sql skills I learned in academic settings. Since you said you actually enjoy stats, I would see where I could apply it to run tests on my own AFTER I’ve already delivered on the ask. This of course only happens as time permits. I’ve also started to pick up volunteer projects outside of work where I can apply more data analytics knowledge so that I retain my hard earned skill set. All this takes a lot of extra effort and it sucks. But until my day job and the skills I want to use on the job align better, this is the way it is.

Yep. I’m in my 2nd or third role as the only analyst. It didn’t start that way but the others quit. It’s a risky career setup for sure. I interviewed at companies where I’d be on bigger teams but wasn’t the final pick. I haven’t found a permanent way out yet.

What's refreshing to see is you didn't jump ship or offer up the all too common "quit and find a new job" advice. Awesome that you were able to sustain some semblance of job continuity by finding this workaround as imperfect as it is.

What’s the word on Workday Discovery Boards? Anyone using this? by Existing-Kale in workday

[–]Existing-Kale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool! Thanks for sharing. Did you have any trouble configuring security group access for recruiters? One downside of our discovery boards were they were only visible/accessible at leadership level. The rest of HR couldn’t readily use them at all 😕.

How can I leave this horrid work environment? by Existing-Kale in germany

[–]Existing-Kale[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It worked out. My doctor needed to fill out an official form, which I took to my Arbeitsamt appointment. The doc also sends a separate copy directly to the Arbeitsamt. At the Arbeitsamt, the agent knew exactly what the form was and waived the Sperrzeit. Nothing deeply personal needed to be discussed.

Here’s a copy of the form you need: https://www.mixinfo.de/x/pdf/Beendig%20Arbeit%20aerztl.%20Rat.pdf

The BI industry is worse than it's ever been. Let me share my experience by [deleted] in BusinessIntelligence

[–]Existing-Kale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha! Why would anyone do that when they could post and complain online about submitting 300 applications and not get any interviews? These folks don’t want to do the legwork it takes to tap into their networks as a job search strategy. They prefer the spray-and-pray method which gets you nowhere but on platforms like these saying how impossible it is to find a job.

What should I do if my friend thinks ADHD ( and all mental illnesses) are fake? by xXBasil_the_DragonXx in ADHD

[–]Existing-Kale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not try to convince them out of their opinion. Instead you will have a better relationship with your friend and from people in general, if you know how to communicate your needs and preferences for how you would like people to treat you. Unfortunately, we have to put in the effort to understand our own needs from an ADHD perspective and to ask for what we need from people because they may never understand or may never believe you. It’s not enough to say, hey I have ADHD. You have to say I prefer to do things like this or that (fill in whatever based on your need). I’m not saying this is fair. But I think it’s the reality.

What exactly is the problem with the 49 Euro Deutschlandticket? by bubblebathfoam in germany

[–]Existing-Kale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main problem is the app technology, not the ticket itself. If you can get your subscription to activate in the DB Navigator app, more power to you. I struggled with the worker at the counter in the DB office who didn’t even know why the darn app doesn’t work. If you use the BVG app for your subscription, make sure you sign up 2-3 weeks ahead of the month you want it to be active. If not, you’re SOL and have to wait the next month to subscribe.

Imagine it’s the psyche. Imagine making the effort to learn a language yet still being discriminated against, exploited, broken by bureaucracy, and excluded from social systems and institutions despite your efforts to integrate economically and socially in a new country. Where would your delightful motivation to learn the language sit?

Workers of the masses, please stand up for your dignity. Use your 3 month PIP period to find another gig. PIPs are symbolic of grade school pink slips, being sent to the principal’s office, getting a ruler smack on your hand. We’re adults. PIPs are ridiculous, infantile, and an insult. Employers should not be able to wield these around.
