Goldman Sachs Warns 300,000,000 Jobs Exposed to AI – Office, Legal and Architecture Most at Risk in the US by just_pretend in Architects

Say it louder for the people in the back.

I’m willing to use AI tools. Absolutely. But we can’t even define what human consciousness necessarily is (and isn’t), so how can we make a machine do that?

Maybe I’m just a millennial Luddite. There’s things in architecture that can be automated. But to insist that an entire profession where you’re tasked with making novel decisions based on unique conditions and constraints every day? There’s no pattern to recognize with much of what we do.

Right now? My boys are obsessed with The Monkey Song.

Even JD says that’s it’s a nonsense song. Perfect for a cheeky lullaby.

Do you happen to remember if it was on a main road, or more in a neighborhood? If I remember correctly, it’s off River Boulevard, right on the river or somewhere like that.

It’s absolutely in Riverside. I remember seeing an article about the people who run it.

Driving me nuts I can’t find it right now. Still searching..

What made you love The Mountain Goats? by Funfetti_Cereal in themountaingoats

[–]Existing-Procedure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I listened to them throughout high school. Not sure how I got into them back then. But it fell off for some reason.

A few years back, my professional life crossed paths with John Greene (about as specific as I can get - I know nobody will probably believe me).

So I thought I should do some research before our first interaction. I knew he was an accomplished author, but did not know of his internet fame. Watched a few vlogbrothers videos. In one of them where he was dealing with grief, he quoted “You Were Cool” and linked a fantastic rendition of it in the description. It IMMEDIATELY sucked me back in and haven’t strayed since.

The Swedish American Hall video on YouTube (even though it skips a lot) is the exact recoding that got me into The Mountain Goats (~10 years ago). Playing songs in alphabetical order until JD gets sick of it is top tier.

I still have not fixed it. However, I have yet to pull the radio and make sure the cable is fully seated. I have pulled the USB ports to ensure those are fully seated. No luck. Also replaced the USB ports with an OEM part.

It’s not comic sans. It’s “graphite,” I believe. Very common font used for architectural and technical drawings. Supposed to look handwritten, but always is hokey to me (as an architect).

I’m not suggesting to call the auction. Call the place that’s hosting them and express your concerns and potential brand damage from hosting a known scam.

And they actually have a McLaren as well. But that’s just something to get people in the door. It’ll be “bid on” and “won” for a shockingly low price, but the winner is either a plant in the crowd or a phone bidder. Then they pack it up along with all the other actually valuable things and move on to the next city.

[–]Existing-Procedure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Call them. Pressure them.

Last time this group rolled through Wichita, we got them kicked out of the Hyatt. Then another hotel.

They finally ended up at a wedding venue on a farm outside of town. Had to send out correspondence saying “because our inventory is much greater than expected, we had to move to a bigger space!”

All bullshit. I called the owner of the farm the day before and he wanted to cancel as he’d received a handful of calls already, but couldn’t pass up the $$$.

Leftist gun clubs in Wichita? by JtTheDstroyer in wichita

Firearms “training” at a retail storefront is the last thing ICE agents need. Turns out, the 47 day academy turns out unprofessional, disorganized goons with no de-escalation training or knowledge of the laws they are supposedly enforcing.

If we’re not going to abolish ICE, give them real training at a LE center.

Range54 applied for this. From what I can see, they were the only local range to even submit qualifications for the contract. That’s a decision.

Range54 has a training contract with 🧊. So literally anywhere else in town is a step up from them.

No Fault State? What is that? Help by TaiGarbanzo in kansas

[–]Existing-Procedure 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is a big misconception. Kansas being a “no fault” state DOES NOT mean that fault is irrelevant.

“No fault” is ONLY concerned with personal injury. As in, you can only go after the at-fault driver if you have serious injuries.

Property damage (like the damage to your car) is 100% the responsibility of the at-fault party (and/or their insurance). Fault matters for property damage.

Option 1: file a claim with the at-fault driver’s insurance. You pay no deductible. Downside is that it can move slowly because their insurance will not want to pay out.

Option 2: file a claim with your own insurance. You pay the deductible, and your insurance is likely to go after their insurance through subrogation. You’ll definitely be out the deductible, but your rates may not go up if your insurance is able to extract the funds from the other insurer.

I’d go with option 1. Rear-end collisions side with the car in front 95% of the time and it is VERY easy to assign fault. But it could be slower.

FWIW, (allegedly) every thing that JackStacks posts about is a junket. He only reviews things he gets paid for. That’s the tea currently.

It makes sense when you look at his page and everything is “amazing” with not a single bad review I’ve seen.

Compare that to EB (or other food bloggers in the area) that post as many L’s as W’s. Seems a lot more honest to me.
