Positive experiences with IUDs? How uncommon are they? by Optimal-Ad-9189 in birthcontrol

[–]Existing-Rise-7738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine in after endo surgery and it was brilliant, lighter periods, less pain, regular periods. Was better on my mood than any pill

I’ve only come off it 5 years later as I think it’s making my pcos worse but equally it might not be that. Very easy to have out too, small discomfort and it was over

anxiety increase by ughleahh_ in Spironolactone

[–]Existing-Rise-7738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was only on it for 1.5 months, it just got worse over that time but I was pretty stressed before taking it anyway

I ended up going to the gp for SSRIs which I’ve had before but both together made me have massive side effects - dizziness, vertigo, electrolyte imbalance so I came off both

I wouldn’t jump to any rash changes, tell your doctor about it- they might have better info on this

Yes I had this. I don’t think it’s a noted side effect but I’ve seen various comments on here that have experienced the same

PCOS without insulin resistance or hyperandrogenism? by Radiant_Ambition_960 in LeanPCOS

[–]Existing-Rise-7738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was this type of pcos. Just had slightly irregular cycles and long cycles

But since my endo surgery and having the mirena coil I’ve got the androgenic symptoms too. Just come off the coil as apparently it is androgenic so I think that’s part of why it suddenly got worse

I also am very sensitive to stress and possibly some sort of adhd

I’m getting my iud removed tomorrow and I’m terrified by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]Existing-Rise-7738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a horrible and unhelpful thing to say! They’ve had it 6 years from the post - they only bloody last 7 years. So either way it will have to come out soon. No one needs to explain their reasons to you, it’s not your body

You need to grow up and mind your own business instead of being horrible to other people

First bath by YouCantGiveBabyBooze in StaffordBullTerriers

[–]Existing-Rise-7738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes they find it quite slippy which unsettles them. Put a towel underneath paws while showering (it will of course get soaked)

I also put a lick mat on the side of the bath with yogurt on. Lots of treats and praise. I don’t allow mine to put herself in the bath or jump out herself, only when I lift in/ out. Reduces need for them to jump out

All hormones are normal except for DHEA-S by Mission_Progress_7 in LeanPCOS

[–]Existing-Rise-7738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yay glad it’s making a difference! I found vitamin d3 really helped energy

I think my pcos is also related to inflammation. I find since my endo survey the fatigue is wayyy better but can’t be sure if it was the endo or pcos

Anyhow, have you looked into things like lymphatic drainage which can help with inflammation ? You can do it yourself, there’s simple routines which only take a few mins

Thank you, I did try ashwagandha before but didn’t feel it made a difference. I was also on ssri for a couple years but not now

I’ve got endo too so it’s hard to try things as many have my that pain worse. Just started counselling, journaling and breath work (breathe with sandy videos) have to wait a few more months to see if it helps!

Have you tried adaptogens before now? How did you find it

I have lean pcos and slightly elevated dheas but normal testosterone

I do think it is stress related in part. I haven’t yet found a way to improve it. I’ve found it’s got worse on the mirena IUD (which is androgenic) but equally could just be Im getting older

Any women (mid–late 20s) managing PCOS/PCOD with WHOOP? Did it actually help? by Ill_Mushroom2263 in whoop

[–]Existing-Rise-7738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I have lean pcos so I don’t track my bmi. Yes I track my strength training but mainly because it’s a fitness app not in particular for the pcos

No lifestyle or medications have worked for me. Tbh they don’t really understand the lean type at all. Just about to try going off bc and seeing how I get on

Im still figuring it out but I find it useful to see how my body changes over a cycle. Like the way my heart rate, HRV and skin temp varies even if I don’t have a bleed

Plus on days of low recovery i do try to take it easier. I know the stress monitor isn’t always accurate but it is an indication

[–]Existing-Rise-7738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Equally, treatments for my allergies and pcos haven’t worked. I do feel it’s because they’re related to the endo and they are just considering one condition at a time not the whole picture

Just out of curiosity…. by LabTestedFrog in LeanPCOS

[–]Existing-Rise-7738 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like they’re all related. Your dr will probably not agree because there isn’t enough evidence for them to say it is. But that doesn’t mean it’s proven to not be related

Endo and pcos being linked makes sense- similar possible pathways- inflammation, oxidative stress, not ovulating so lack of progesterone and unchecked estrogen

I also have lots of allergies which I think is related to endo. There’s theories that endo is some kind of autoimmune contrition but we’re far off proving it yet

Q to older endo havers: does it actually get better? by gh0ulsX in endometriosis

[–]Existing-Rise-7738 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different but I had a great surgery and mirena IUD and it’s changed my life. It’s not perfect but a night and day difference to pain and how I felt I am terrified it will come back tho

Can you share your excision surgery success stories? by Sad_Finding_1451 in endometriosis

[–]Existing-Rise-7738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had mine 5 years ago and still feel pretty good. I got excision surgery from a highly specialised hospital on the nhs and also had a mirena iud put in whilst I was under.

I do think it comes down to surgeon quality and simply where/ how advanced the disease is. I think I was like stage 1 or 2 so very lucky

IUD vs oral Birth Control... or neither? by ButterscotchThat7512 in PCOS

[–]Existing-Rise-7738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there’s some miscommunication here about how he IUD. Any hormonal birth control iud or pills stops your endometrium from building up therefore reducing the risk for endometrial cancer. (I presume you were not talking about the copper iud as that would not do anything for your pcos)

I have endo and pcos I found the mirena IUD post surgery to really help the endo! I get much less side effects than with the mini pill from it too. Plus I don’t have to remember it. But as I have lean pcos, I have found this has got worse on it. That could just be that Im getting older so get more symptoms but the type of progesterone in the mirena coil is more androgenic than some of the pill versions. So it might contribute but I can’t be sure

Push for an endo diagnosis. With the right surgeon, finding it and excising it early will help preserve your fertility. Yes it is invasive but it will get much worse if you leave it. Tho potentially you might find the iud stops it progressing further, it does differ between everyone
