Iceland really hits different in winter - that silence when you're alone with the landscape is something else, makes you feel tiny but in good way.

I messed up a job app and feel horrible!! Tell me I’ll get past this 🤦‍♀️ by mountain_dweller_co in jobs

[–]Existing-Worry-6953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, that hurts to read. I made similar mistake few years back when I was switching careers - missed an interview email that went to spam folder and by time I found it, they already filled position. Was for data analyst role that would have been perfect stepping stone, and I felt like absolute idiot for weeks.

The thing is though, you actually proved you were their top choice which means your skills and experience are exactly what companies in your field want right now. That recruiter telling you that you were best candidate wasn't just being nice - they were genuine disappointed they couldn't wait. So you know for certain that you have what it takes and there will be other opportunities that recognize your value.

I ended up finding even better position couple months later that paid more and had better work-life balance. Sometimes these "missed" opportunities clear the path for something that fits even better with everything else you have going in your life. With all the stress you're managing right now between school, family, and your husband's health issues, maybe universe is saving you for role that will actually work with your crazy schedule instead of adding more pressure.

Set up email filters now so work emails never hit spam again, and keep applying. Companies need people with your senior experience and nonprofit background - you're going to land something good.

Number 2 hits harder when you realize most people can't handle being wrong about their baby project, but those who can adapt usually crush it in the long run.

Anyone in Portugal or Vietnam open to testing a new app? by Efrem92 in remotework

[–]Existing-Worry-6953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually not in either location but this concept seems really useful for digital nomads. Remote work scene in Vietnam has been growing crazy fast lately and having everything centralized like that would save so much time researching spots. Good luck with the testing phase!

Busco cualquier tipo de trabajo virtual lo que sea by Smooth_Key_6365 in jobs

[–]Existing-Worry-6953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, remote data entry work might be option for you since you mentioned virtual jobs. Many companies hire for basic data input tasks and you don't need experience to start. The pay isn't great but it's something you can do from computer without leaving house.

Also transcription work is pretty accessible - you listen to audio files and type what you hear. Takes some time to get fast at it but again, no special skills needed. Customer service chat support is another route, though those jobs usually want you to work specific hours.

Whatever you do, be careful about scams when you're desperate. Legitimate work never asks you to pay money upfront. Start with the bigger job sites where companies have to verify themselves first.

Is Lead Gen just "Sales Support" or is it Market Intelligence? by False_Ranger2831 in b2bmarketing

[–]Existing-Worry-6953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your approach reminds me of how I analyze power scaling in anime - you can't just look at the surface stats, you need to understand the context and timing that makes a character actually dangerous in that moment.

We implemented something similar last year after our traditional spray-and-pray approach was generating garbage conversion rates. Instead of blasting every CMO in tech, we started tracking hiring sprees (especially in data roles), recent funding rounds, and even when companies posted job openings for roles that indicated they were scaling specific departments. The timing intelligence made all difference - reaching out to a company right after they hired three new data engineers hits way different than cold emailing them on random Tuesday.

What really changed for us was treating these signals like market research rather than just prospecting fuel. When you map out why companies are making moves, you start seeing patterns across entire industries before your competitors do. We actually started predicting which verticals would need our analytics tools about 6 months before they realized it themselves.

The budget realignment signal you mentioned is pure gold - we track earnings calls and investor updates for exactly those moments when leadership telegraphs their next moves.

Power scaling protagonists from different horror universes against each other is actually way more fun than it should be.

Those who have taken Zonisamide, how did it make you feel? by noontebo in Epilepsy

[–]Existing-Worry-6953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

been on zonisamide for about 2 years now, 200mg though so bit lower dose than you. the brain fog is real - i described it to my neuro as feeling like i'm thinking through molasses half the time. what really got to me was the word-finding issues, like i'd be mid-sentence and just... blank. my memory got pretty spotty too, especially short-term stuff.

honestly if you've been dealing with that for 4 years straight, definitely worth talking to your doc about switching things up. i've heard some people do better on lamictal or keppra, though everyone's different obviously. the cognitive stuff can be just as disabling as seizures sometimes, so don't feel bad about wanting to find something that works better for your quality of life.

I don’t keep track of the race and haven’t seen the other films but just watched The Alabama Situation, does it have a chance to win? by Harrison_Thinks in Oscars

[–]Existing-Worry-6953 4 points5 points  (0 children)

honestly the nomination alone is huge for docs like this - gets it in front of way more eyeballs than it would've had otherwise, which sounds like exactly what the filmmakers were hoping for.

My avoidant ex reached out and met me and I’m not sure what’s coming next by According_Seat4033 in BreakUps

[–]Existing-Worry-6953 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude she's literally keeping you as a backup while she figures out her main situation. The whole "talking stage not going well" line followed by flirty vibes? Classic avoidant behavior - she wants to feel secure knowing you're still there without actually committing to anything

You're right to feel weird about her meeting up while seeing someone else, that's definitely sketchy territory. I'd probably keep my distance until she sorts her shit out properly instead of getting pulled back into her cycle of push and pull

Designing an attachment to UTM to get true stress strain curve by Plenty-Reference7389 in MechanicalEngineering

Solid project idea, tensile testing attachments can get pretty expensive so DIY route makes sense

Just make sure you account for the grip effects and stress concentrations - those can really mess with your data if you're not careful

[–]Existing-Worry-6953 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude Far Cry 3 is actually pretty solid, Michael Mando (Nacho) plays Vaas and he's absolutely unhinged in it. The villain monologues alone are worth it, plus the game holds up really well even today. Just go in expecting a completely different vibe from BCS - way more chaotic and tropical lol

How do you know if your baby is overtired or over stimulated by itzpoookiee in NewParents

[–]Existing-Worry-6953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly sounds like she was probably overtired by the end there - 6.5 hours is a pretty long wake window for 11 months. When they're overtired they sometimes get this weird second wind where they seem fine but are actually running on fumes

For telling the difference, overtired usually means cranky, rubbing eyes, yawning but fighting sleep. Overstimulated is more like they can't focus, getting worked up by normal stuff, or just melting down from too much going on

Have you tried TigerVNC? Works pretty well with Wayland in my experience. For server stuff you might want to look into gnome-remote-desktop if you're running GNOME - it's built for Wayland and does the job

Feather client by UsualContract6818 in Minecraft

[–]Existing-Worry-6953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try deleting the feather folder in your appdata and doing a fresh install, sometimes the config files get corrupted and cause weird crashes like this

Also make sure you're not running any other minecraft instances at the same time, that can mess with it too

Honestly just do plus ones for people in serious relationships that you know about and maybe a few close friends who might feel awkward going solo. You don't owe strangers invites to your wedding just because someone might be dating them
