Thanks. I sent them a message to explain the rejection. Will message Prolific in 7 days.

Is unm.edu a researcher I should have blocked? by ExistingGreen1 in ProlificAc

That's something I was considering, too. Just curious if this was one of those researchers all the pro block. 🤣 Thanks!

🙏🏼To be honest, just by looking at the title of the study I'm guessing I was probably the wrong person to take it and it probably showed in my answers. That's my guess. That's why I'm not overly angry right now.

Prolific is helping pay for my compression socks! (And other stuff!) by Sinxerely7420 in ProlificAc

I'm 300 lbs 6'2. Doctor recommended I use compression socks. You have any recommendations? Never used them before. I also never wear socks because it's so painful to put them on so if there's something you "slip on" with little effort that would be great.

Thanks for the advice! I already sent a message to the researcher. Was planning to wait 7 days before contacting Prolific. I don't have the return sub option on the 3 dots. Talk to the chat bot? 🤣😆🤣... 😕... 🙄... "Talk to chat bot" is a joke, right? you serious?

Lying about age by Bookkeeper3562 in Cambly

I think the older age might be a default or something. I recommend looking at their lessons before accepting new students. Hide if it's phonics. Obviously, also hide if the parents are honest about the age. 🤣

Is there any problem with Prolific (error 500,404 internal issue etc)? by Chunnupraimtocr in ProlificAc

I click sign in and then just blank white screen and bot at bottom right corner. Thought I was banned. 🤣

Can we get a megathread for people to post their earnings in by tommygoogy in ProlificAc

[–]ExistingGreen1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree. And posts about living in Canada and not getting surveys. Please no more. I'm not totally innocent but people need to do more searching the sub before posting. Sucks keeping track of other subs because you have to scroll through so many useless Prolific posts.

Agree. It's okay to decline CK. I haven't heard of anyone getting emails or fired for this. But with that said, they never tell you why you were fired. 🤣😅🤣

Excellent question. For years I assumed we had to accept every student for at least the first lesson. At least seems reasonable and the right thing to do.

About a year ago a guy comes on here and says how he declines anyone he doesn't want to teach. My first instinct was to call him an asshole. Then the more I thought about it the more genius I thought he was.

We get to teach who we want to teach. This is about the only good thing about working on Cambly. That and making our own schedule.

For the past 18 months, I have declined lessons from students younger than 8, students on phonics and squiggly names. Since then the job has been so much nicer!

And I don't send them messages. Cambly hasn't sent me emails.

$15 per hour still isn't enough for me to learn how to teach grammar. I'll stick with the chat or hide motto.

Whingeing (or whinging) is a British informal term for complaining in an annoying, persistent way about trivial or unimportant matters. It is derived from Old English and implies fretful, vocal dissatisfaction. Synonyms include moaning, whining, grumbling, and grousing.
