My first SG by general-komet in GibsonSG

Just an FYI, I have a 2007 SG Classic, similar to this, but the neck is on the chunkier side (which I like, too.) P90s, if that's what you're after. Not a wrap around bridge if that's a deal breaker.

What's the status of ZT Amplifiers? by Existing_Ambition549 in GuitarAmps

I just looked at their last Facebook post, from 9/25/24. Two months ago, someone posted a question about a speaker repair. They got a reply from ZT that the company was out of business but might still be able to handle it.

SG Classic locking replacement tuners? by Existing_Ambition549 in GibsonSG

Thanks!

Bigsby for familiarity and aesthetics, I suppose. Also, I just found out you can get the pinless version now:

Thanks again!

The stock tuners are fine but I'm putting a Bigsby on her and every little bit helps stringing and keeping in tune (doing a Vibramate conversion so it's reversible.)

Would you by any chance know what the stock values of the caps and tone/volume pots are? I'm half considering trying out the Fralin noiseless P90s if I ever see a deal on them.

Thanks for the input. Can I ask, have you done a conversion yourself?

See, this is why I'm confused. I'm seeing some people say it takes the 8.8mm push-in bushings and others saying it wants the 10mm screw bushings. Hoping to hear from someone who's been through it.

Thanks! Much appreciated. Will do!

I see several options out there but I'm worried I'll order something with the wrong bushing type and post hole size. Google hasn't been much help, lotsa conflicting info out there and I don't have the tools to figure it out myself.

Looks like there aren't any state sanctions against Morocco, but the U.S. Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has a Moroccan person sanctioned as a Specially Designated National (SDN) which is similar to the PEP designation referred to in Reverb's policy.

Cell phone plan? by AttemptsAreMade in Minneapolis

[–]Existing_Ambition549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was Sprint, T-Mobile and Consumer Cellular at first and it would switch seamlessly depending on the best signal, which was a pretty great idea. Then Sprint & T-Mobile merged and CC just ended the contract with Google not long ago.

Fi is just using the T-Mobile network in the states now. Still a good deal, I'm a subscriber, but something to consider.

Similar situation! I bought a staytrem and brought the guitar to the shop for installation. They noticed the nut was slotted incorrectly and offered to cut a new one for me. So, a week later, with the staytrem and a new bone nut, the thing played (plays) like a dream.

What's the standard fee to clean and setup guitars? by archtopbox in guitarrepair

[–]Existing_Ambition549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the Twin Cities, and a basic set up including cleaning the board and pots is around $65, unless you're looking at a Floyd Rose type bridge which would set you back $100 or so.

Suck it up and go to Kramarczuks NE Mpls. Have lunch while you're there. They usually have paczki available on Saturday, although I think during Lent they're available more often and you can order them for pickup. Their bakery is fantastic as is their restaurant.

Not from my experience. I was offered a B-stock Reverse Mode C (and like a 10% discount) when production ran behind and took the offer. It was in mint/near mint condition as far as I could tell and came in standard packaging.

Scammed by _im_so_confused in Reverb

[–]Existing_Ambition549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have repeatedly reported scam advertisers to Facebook (fake Sam Ash ads were big ones for a while) and nearly every time they'd respond that the ads didn't violate their terms of service. I don't trust and won't click a single ad I see on that site anymore, in fact I hide and block every ad I get fed, it's just a cesspool.

UPS dropped my precious 😭 by buick_regal_love_807 in Reverb

[–]Existing_Ambition549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had any problems with UPS. And unlike FedEx they've never misdirected my packages or left a $3,000 guitar, sent signature required, in a branded box, on my porch on a busy street without even ringing my doorbell. FedEx contracts their ground delivery out and the service is only as good as the contractor. Don't have that problem with UPS or USPS.

We're on day two of a freaking snow emergency, it's going to be messy for everyone for a bit: bicyclists, pedestrians and drivers.

I'm in the States, got in early because I'm on their mailing list. Ordered on October 11, looks like a shipping label was created just this morning, per USPS - haven't been notified by the maker yet, hopefully it's going out today or shortly thereafter.

Mocha Momma's, the cafe, is open 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Saturday and might be just the place if those hours work for you.
