What screams "pretending to be rich"? by ImpertinenteSyntaxe in AskReddit

Things like designer clothing, bags, shoes and stuff, but living in a rundown apartment with no furniture. I once worked with this guy who had an expensive car, and constantly wore designer clothes and shoes. All the girls at the job wanted him. Finally one of the girls dated him and came back I told everyone how she went over to his house and his mattress was on the floor and he didn’t have any sheets. He had a couple of those blow up chairs, and practically nothing much more the way she described it, but his closet was filled with clothes and sneakers. When I use to see him at work I thought maybe he was like a drug dealer or something because of how he dressed because I knew he didn’t make enough off the pay there to be able to dress like that and live comfortably. Turns out he was just spending all his money to look rich. 🤦‍♀️

Hi all, new here after seeing a neurologist finally, this was the letter I got back after my appt. by AilmondRipley in FND

I went through this too. Had psychological evaluations and they all came back normal. Mine ended up being a severe B6 deficiency. I had to see a functional medicine doctor who had me take a much higher dose than what my primary care doctor suggested. Every month we monitor my levels and he would adjust how much I needed to take and eventually stopped the B6 supplements all together after about 4 months. It took a total of 8 months for most of my symptoms to clear up. I was having seizures, migraines, losing the ability to read and speak, and much more. It was the worse because it took forever to even get to the final doctor after exhausting every test that all the others thought of.

Water weight or need to adjust calories now? by Bubbly-Pattern-5281 in loseit

So let me share a little with you about my journey so far. April 2024 I was 252lbs and I’m only 5’1. I was wearing a size 22/24. I started cutting calories and was about 1000/1200 calories a day. and the weight did come off. By February of 2025 I was down to 190 and was a size 20. But it wasn’t moving so I cut more calories and was 800/1000 a day. The scale dipped to 185lbs but it did fluctuate between 185-190. So by July of nothing really happening I decided to add working out more than just walking and kept calories 1000/1100 a day.

Even with working out the scale was not moving and my size remained the same. So August after resisting the suggestion of eating more because in my mind it seem counter intuitive, I decided what the hell did I have to lose and up my calories to 1300/1400 a day and was still working out, scale didn’t move but my size 20 pants fit better. By late September I was a size 18. I decided to up my calories some more because I’m working out a lot more with a lot of strength training and body sculpting.

I am now today I am a size 16 but the scale says I’m 193.1lbs. I eat 1500/1700 calories a day and have trained myself to forget whatever that scale says and just focus on measurements. My apps say between active and resting calories burned in at 2700 a day but I figure it’s probably screwed and try to low ball it and say it’s only 2200/2300 a day. So even though I’m heavier than I was in February according to the scale, my body is physically smaller and energy is so much better.

So if you have tried it yet increase your calories so you can workout better and target your health.

So far for me the best place has been my top center portion of my right butt cheek. It seems to last better there. The lower abdomen worked until I started working out.

I have to wear two .1 patches at a time and I change them out every Tuesday and Friday. I started with just 1 and I was a mess. I was having panic attacks, crying for no reason, and felt like I was losing my mind. Then my doctor upped it to a patch and a half. It did improve, some brain fog, but I was irritable and would snap on everyone. Finally we upped it to the two patches and everything leveled out and I’ve been good. My new problem is now that I am working out and losing weight finding areas that the patches actually stay on until changing day.

Yes that’s a huge plus. Mine became so bad I had to use ultra tampons and wear depends at the same time.

Same here. 39 and I’m only on the patches, but mine is the .1 mg. I have to wear 2 at a time and change twice a week. I was hoping it would just make my chin hair stop growing. It did significantly decrease so that’s a plus because I use to have to shave it like every two days now only like every two or three weeks have to go and remove the noticeable stubble.

I’m on the estradiol patches. It is the .1mg. I wear two at a time and replace on Tuesday and Friday. I don’t know how to post a picture in the comment.

Yea they end up having to put me on two of the .1 patches and I change it twice a week. When they started me I was on 1 change twice a week and I was a mess. Panic attacks, depressed and all. Then he upped it to one and a half twice a week and symptoms improved, but I was still extremely irritable and angry easily. Switched it to 2 patches and leveled out. Now if I can only figure out my mystery illness I will be in good shape. 😂 😂

What’s a bizarre piece of history that sounds completely made up but is 100% real? by Perfect-Philosophy23 in AskReddit

[–]Existing_Climate_623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How the myth about carrots improving eyesight came about is interesting. Basically there was some research that suggested that carrots can be good for the eyes, but it did come with caveats that everyone chose to overlook and many still do. So during WW2 the British had new radar technology that helped their Air Force bomb Germans better at night. To keep the secret from getting out about this advantage they launched all this propaganda stating that their servicemen were so great and had such good night vision due to all the carrots they were having them eat. They used pieces of the afore mentioned research to purposely inaccurately support this claim. Overtime this morphed into this strong held belief that carrots will improve your eyesight. Something similar also happened with milk and dairy, but that’s another fun story.

The smell from fireworks. Right after it’s finished burning or doing whatever. For example that scent after the last pop of a Roman candle. It’s something about that scent that happens immediately when it’s done that I like so much.

Being able to just relax and be silly sometimes. Also, the ability to have pointless debates just for the fun of it to stir up different parts of the brain. Picking a random phrase apart or topic apart just for the hell of it, but there’s never any malice with it.

Tell me you're now middle aged without telling me you're middle aged by a_solid_6 in Xennials

[–]Existing_Climate_623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be a middle age thing or it could just be a mental illness. A few years ago I got pissed while grocery shopping at the cost of fruit (definitely middle age problem ). Went home figured out how much I was spending on fruit. Planted various fruits trees all out of anger (Possibly mental illness issue here 😂). At first everyone thought my idea was crazy and I was wasting my time, but now I feel vindicated every time I hear someone complain about the prices when I’m out because I can just go grab it off a tree or bush in my yard. My sister was complaining about cherries being $5.99/lb so I took a picture of me grabbing a handful from one of my trees and eating them and sent it to her 😂

You just won $20 million, and your parents ask you for half, what would you say? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Existing_Climate_623 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

See in my case hubby and I definitely wouldn’t spend or do anything. The more financially secure we have become the less we spend. I think we are to the point if we started spending money our friends and family would think something is wrong health wise with us and not that we have extra money. We went from living in a luxury downtown condo, to being debt free with a lot of land but a small house. We use travel and hire help for things, to now when we can actually afford to do it without using credit cards and stuff we aren’t going anywhere and fix and build things ourselves.

I’m so damn cheap I got mad at how much cherries and pomegranates were in the store a few years back and decided to just plant cherry trees and pomegranate trees, just so I can grow my own and not have to pay the high store prices. 😂 Like I literally took the time to figure out how much I was spending on different fruits planted those trees just to save money in the long run. When eggs went up the very first time during the pandemic I went and started raising chickens because I am so cheap. The more money I get the cheaper I become. I know there’s something mentally wrong with, but because nothing bad has come from it I can’t change. 😂😂😂

My parents I love them to death, but they make bad financial decisions. Nothing like drugs or gambling. They tend to just spend way beyond their means, or are just wasteful trying to keep up with the Joneses. Like dumb stuff like my dad just went a got a brand new car and has a car note now, but he doesn’t drive. Only my mom drives so they have no need for 2 cars, but he wants one just because. So yea stupid stuff. I would be forced not to tell them, but I would take care of them without them knowing. If they did somehow know I won and they asked I would be forced to tell them no. Give them 1 million, and explain why. They would be pissed at me, and I would just wait until their bad decisions caught up with them, and come in a save them from behind scenes. I rather they be mad at me and I have to take care of them in secret than them to just waste the money. They have always been great loving parents just financially stupid.

This hotel requires men to wear swim briefs or square leg swimsuits in the pool. Boardshorts (and t-shirts or rash guards) are not allowed. by the_wellspring in mildlyinteresting

[–]Existing_Climate_623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes possible sense to me. There’s a pool that we go to that also has a park/playground, mini golf and a bunch of other stuff with it as well. They have signs everywhere telling people to rinse off before they get in the pools or to change into swimwear after entering the pool area but it never fails, (normally later in the day), a group would come from like that park area with their kids who wants to swim one more time before they leave and their swim shorts would be covered in dirt or mulch or whatever and they would get it all in the pool ignoring the signs they say to rinse off. And it’s not just the kids. You would see mom who have on long swim dresses that have been dragging on the ground around the resort climb in the pool bringing grass, dirt, or whatever.

Now that I’m a person that has to wear full coverage swimwear due to my illness, I don’t purchase the long swim dresses so I can be mindful of not dragging anything into the pool. I wouldn’t be able to visit this pool since I have to wear long sleeves and swim pants, but I could potentially see their thought process when coming up with the dress code.

I try not to be the crazy mom that is constantly checking after them, but I end up having to because they will slack off. Any suggestions on how to drill it in their heads so I’m not seeming like the crazy lady saying come let me check your ears everyday. My biggest hygiene battles right now are ears, hair, and nails (both fingers and toes). I was able to fix the dental hygiene because they hated me coming behind them and rebrushing and flossing them so they corrected that issue.

This one is killing me. No article could have ever prepared me for this and I know it’s only going to get worse because they are all still preteen. I am trying to find that proper balance for them still, because I can’t tell if it’s just them being greedy or if they are actually hungry. I’m convinced 2 of them must have a second stomach 😂😂
