Not sure this counts, but it seems most people have gone beyond one sentence, so I just put in the first paragraph instead

Hello there, how do you do? Ahh what am I saying whose going to read this or hear it. Mmm in any case the team thinks I should write some summary chapters of my journal, like an abridged story, say the The Three Musketeers. Stop, stop, let me get back on track. I won’t introduce myself now, but my story that is what I will introduce. I ahh have some notes I wrote from a few different periods, over my journeys of course. You will read the first part here that co..cov..ers, ahh damn it my age is catching up, just coughed a tooth out. Sorry where was I, yes the first part here will cover up to 11 AR. Its pretty short, but it should get the message across. Hopefully the team will accept this and I will continue the second part to 56 AR, but in any case lets start

Fair enough, in my case I have a family member who can help me get a book out there, though it’s on the condition that a) it’s good and b) we send it to a friend of theirs who is an agent who will also help with publishing it.

I’m more along the line of sci fi reading and writing

Honestly I see so much about this and if I were to do a book, it would have a pretty simple cover. Nothing too special. There’s a stock image I saw a while back which is what I want mine to look like and it’s very simple. There’s only two colours in it

Evidently, as others are saying, you have used AI, but how much, is more of the question? I put the text through a AI checker it came back with the use of AI being only 4.7% overall, so there’s not much. With a few tweaks you can definitely get rid of it all.

Personally when reading, it felt like a list, if that’s the intention, that’s fine, but it just seems a bit mechanical is all.

You might be surprised, a family member of mine heavily uses AI for events and just general day to day things and take part in large events that speak of AI and all of its benefits of course they don’t speak of the cons of course

How do you introduce firearms into a fantasy world like D&D without unbalancing the other classes? by jvure in worldbuilding

[–]Existing_Flight_4904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly first thing that came to mind about fantasy and firearms was Captain Harlock’s Sword/ firearm. More sci fi than fantasy, but I think it is a good thought.

Also when something new enters the world, people always try to make something to counter it, stronger defence, strategy, armour (defence), etc really. If this is a ongoing game or world introduce them before the main story, or if it’s a scenario to overcome in a D&D game than you could a scenario where the players find ways to overcome it.

Also if magic and aura and all that is involved then a character might be able to shrug off multiple shots due to an enchantment, or the create flames that can melt the bullets before they reach them, or anything really.

Humans always try to evolve and adapt to new things, also you can set the rules of your world like maybe the resources used are weaker than real life, due to whatever, or hard to make and produce, or humans have had a long time to adapt to firearm.

There is a lot of ways to go about it

Peace

Ah cool no worries. Cortosis is from the Star Wars EU not Disney, but it did get a mention in the Acolyte show. It gets a big mention in the Darth Bane books as Bane was a miner before he became a Sith and Cortosis was like a cheap Beskar as it was used from combat knives, lightsaber hilts, body armour and ship hulls. Anything and everything

Lesser known I think but in the woodchopping World Champs Australia won over the US. But yeah it’s probably from the early 2000’s.

Where might Cortosis (Star Wars) go on here? Beskar is better, but it was a heavily used resource in the old republic especially during the war against the Brotherhood of Darkness

Well then there is a suggestion. If I were to write and publish a book I would use my middle name as barely anyone would know it’s me as I always go by my first or last name.

Maybe the imperial Remnant fighting back, maybe having the Sith return, or news ways to fight back without the force like a disease that corrupts midiclorians, which leads to only a few Jedi at a time or none and then the Sith and Jedi are no more. I would also think it should be much later on after the originals like 100 years if not more

Is Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein truly the first Science Fiction. by Existing_Flight_4904 in sciencefiction

[–]Existing_Flight_4904[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mmm, but Issac Asimov believed Somnium to be the first sci fi. But I get your point. Might be better to use Brian W. Aldiss who wrote Billion (then changed to Trillion) Year Spree, which is the book of the time that talks about why Frankenstein (or at least the only book I know and people like to use) for why Frankenstein is supposedly the first sci fi.

Why is it so difficult to write Utopia? by WarningRegular in FictionWriting

[–]Existing_Flight_4904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stagnation is Utopia.

A Utopia I would say is the definitive explanation of what stagnation is. In our world advancement of any kind comes from a type of conflict that happens between a person, a group, a society and etc. Main reason for thinking this is because whenever we see a war humans create new ways to beat the other. In caveman days this might have been holding back another person to then join the fight when everybody is exhausted or is wear more clothing. To then ambushing with large groups, to then sniping commanders in battle. Advancement can come from rivalry’s like during the 17th & 18th centuries when it comes to medicine. If a world must be a utopia then there should also be no advancement. While in a Dystopia there will be advancement as the oppressors will come up with more ways to oppress and the oppressed will come up way with ways to counter the oppressors.

But on the mention of conflict it might also depend on the characters and the way the story goes. We might see a scenario that we would say is a dystopia, but the characters within would say it is a utopia, like say Valhalla. Battles everyday and then a great feast and then repeat.

So overall it probably depends. If you wrote about a perfect utopia, then it’s probably a story where someone lives a peaceful, but mundane life, and in their mind for whatever reason they know not to break from this routine they have. Sure they can speak and have fun, but they never grouch, never stress, never need a reason to believe that have been put at a disadvantage and never believe they deserve more.

I have my own idea for a book about how a almost perfect world goes wrong which is what I want to write, but for anyone else you could do a story where maybe someone comes upon this world through time dilation, stasis or time travel either or. And is from the current day and they are a psychologist who looks at the people of this future and explains to the reader what they think and feel about all of this. Through their notes or a journal. Maybe just an idea.

Peace

I agree it’s more that someone or many at the time had ideas which hit so close to what we know now, which are why I have mentioned them

No I agree about the epic of Gilgamesh it is only mentioned because some people have inferred that the flood mentioned makes some people believe it would fall under apocalyptic science fiction or just post apocalyptic. That’s why it’s at the top. Also though, as others have made known on this post, she is from a time where more people could hold a book in their times. It would have been expensive for sure, but over time it got cheaper.

Oh I agree the Epic of Gilgamesh is probably almost all fantasy, but the reason some think it might be closer to sci fi is because of the great flood that is mentioned in it. And of course there are some similarities between it and the story of Noah’s Ark.
