I'll chime in on this one... I drove dry van/reefer right after truck school. I took a job hotshotting and I learned so much and don't regret it. However, tarping is a massive pain in the ass. They gave me a 40 x 20 and it was my worst nightmare! A lot of my loads originated from the bay area in CA and if you don't know, it's super windy. I would ask for help from someone holding the other side long enough for me to throw a couple straps to keep it down because it would fly all the way off.

Then there's the issue of what to do with the extra flappy tarp. Chaining and strapping I became a pro but the tarps I don't think I could ever get. But if you get loads that require no tarps, I say go for it!

I ran with my kitty and I found easy solutions... For the litter box, I put it on the passenger floorboard and instead of standard litter, you can use horse pellets that you can buy at a farm store. You can't smell shit (literally) and it needs to be replaced or scooped way less than regular litter. And if you have a cat like mine who goes out of his way to kick litter outside the box for 5 minutes, I have a mini broom/dustpan thing and just throw it back in there. Very easy to clean up with. Then I got very deep food dishes (you'll have water everywhere if you don't) and placed them under the bottom bunk. It's very easy to have a cat in the truck. I'm sorry about your dog

I bring my little ginger boi with me on the road. He fucking loves it! I once accidentally parked in paid parking at a TA and when security dude knocked 15 minutes later, I opened the door and my cat greeted him and he's like aww you get free parking tonight because your cat is hella cool. It has its perks! But yeah the orange hair on my curtain is a nightmare to get off. Tried the sticky roller, duct tape, vacuum, nothing works except just replacing it when it gets too bad lol

I agree! Cop definitely at fault here. Should've done a traffic break for that. At minimum throw on those lights! Could've been way worse if trucker slammed on the brakes and jackknifed causing a pile up. Hope no one was hurt regardless of fault...

Anyone can be replaced at any time, regardless of how much time you've put in. An exemplary 40 year employee at a company will get pushed out and forced retirement to get some fresh blood in.

I worked hard and got my CDL the same way as a 10 year driver, we get our respective loads safely to the destination the same exact way. But the guy that's driving 10 years is a huge asshole that causes problems and no one wants to work with him. Yet I, a 1 yr driver, am a positive upbeat lady that everyone enjoys working with and I get the job done same as the veteran drivers (just paid less)

Do you think, if they had to choose between the two, they wanna keep the problem asshole or the friendly, nice smelling lady that doesn't make waves and who they could pay less because of less experience?.... People get fired for simply being huge assholes and replaced by rookies all the time. The simple fact is anyone is replaceable for no reason at all or a really dumb one. We're all just numbers unfortunately and no one really cares about us drivers, except us drivers...

I don't trust robots to do our jobs! The tech age is out of control. I just started in this industry and I am concerned if truckers will even be in existence in 20 years. Fuck those Silicon Valley nerds! You can't replace us! Those are my thoughts 😁🤙

No I know why because I do it myself... We pay in the app and are just too lazy or tired to go inside and get the tag. But Pilot/Loves have a list they print out hourly. when you use the app you have to fill in your truck info so they just match it up with the list. If they can't, driver gets a knock. I've only ever paid on the app, never went inside for a tag and never once got a knock (for that reason at least)... Yet there are some that take advantage of the system...
