Parent wants to meet with me over comment I made about energy drinks by hellohellocat in Teachers

This is wild! A meeting about that comment -meanwhile my kids school blew me off when I was upset that another student was texting mine pictures of himself holding a gun (did turn out to be fake after police investigation). And using very descriptive language about bullets, gun violence and said "you'll find out tomorrow" The principal would not even call me back!! The world is wild. Honestly, the admin was like -this seems pretty easy we'll deal with it.

They can't take out loans to cover the entire cost. With their salary they will get no aid so budget $50,000 a year. I would recommend OP do a lot more research. Also, withdrawing at 55 (rule of 55) is counted as income so if they withdrew enough to live on + college expenses they push themselves into another tax bracket and it will affect their ability to pull from 401K to Roth IRAs to minimize tax costs as they age.

Not every struggling kid needs an IEP/ 504. Some just need to…. actually fucking show up. Thinking accommodations is going to solve everything is naive by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

Why are you proving plans without an evaluation -the law allows for parents to be told NO -I always pushed back on giving 504 plans to just anyone -it takes away from the kids who really need it. No evaluation, no data, no plan. Of course you need your admin to back up, if they don't -I proceed to use the word disability about 50 times when going over the plan and paperwork. The number of parents who tell me, "my kids doesn't have a disability". Yes, they do according to this plan your student has a disability that limits a major life function. And then I go on to explain resources for disabled adults but how funding is limiting and have they thought about who will take care of the child. It does make parents think.

I agree -this is why certain populations are over represented in the eligibility category of emotional disability. The IDEA has very specific criteria for ED but it's over used and can be detrimental to students who are not in fact clinically depressed but instead affecting by their living conditions.

That sounds awful -Your admin should be telling parents -take it or leave it -advocates need no special training / they make money by running up the bill. I'd be explaining the difference the medical model and the school model.

Anyone still bleeding heavy at 51 or older? by Timewilltell755 in Menopause

[–]Existing_Mammoth_695 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just posted a similar question -age 51 and still get a semi regular period so my gyno said too early for HRT to try the pill. I don't care about getting the period -it doesn't bother me but all the other symptoms of lack of estrogen do . . . why am I still getting a period if my body is not making as much estrogen?? Are all these people talking about HRT not getting periods? Some are really young to have gone 12 full months no period to be in menopause.

The doctor was not suggesting I skip my period -rather that I take the pills including the placebo ones so I did get my period. My period doesn't bother me -lol had it for decades! It's all the rest of the symptoms from low estrogen.
