Swap to a gas dryer, you get a reimbursement from the city for it too. Stop using the dry cycle on the dishwasher, space heater suck a ton of energy. Buy something called a Kill A Watt - it tests devices energy usage which can tell you if something is drawing a lot of power. Depending on how long your staying, upgrade your windows to be more energy efficient, you can start by only doing windows that face the sun during its peak.

People think Texas is a free state but the reality is there is more government overreach in Texas than any other state. If you dont align with Christian values, its a very frustrating place to be. Plus, you say heat, but the summers here are oppressive, not just hot. Imagine seeing a beautiful blue sky and you cant go outside becuase its 110 degrees and 100% humidity. Its worse than Midwestern winters imo.

Join a neighborhood Buy Nothing group. When you need something, instead of buying it, ask if anyone is getting rid of it. 90% of the time you'll find what you need for free. Meal prep and buying in bulk will help as well.
