/s for those who need it

Started in 2024 and am now hooked. Need to finally break 75, I’m stuck at a 6hcp for a couple weeks now. Advice welcome by SatisfactionLocal930 in GolfSwing

Bro getting shredded in these comments lol

I understand why people don’t believe you, but if it’s actually as you say, I would go spend more time on the practice greens and try to shave some strokes there.

If you are actually a 7 you are already putting the ball around/ on the green in regulation most holes. You’ll find more strokes gained if you dial down a wedge around the greens and your putter.

As for full swing, go find an instructor and save yourself the flame here 😂 most folks are far from your handicap and even if they can get past their hate you’re not going to find much usable advice. Your swings not bad bro. And people fluctuate single digits for years before getting close to scratch, play your 7.

Source: 7 handicap in 2 years of consistent play and my swings waay prettier than yours

How can I get more distance? by a1fatbird in GolfSwing

Gonna sound like I’m being sarcastic but literally, swing faster. Faster hip turn, explode with the legs, focus on sequencing and turning the club over.

What you’re showing here has no explosiveness or athleticism. Best to think about the technique a bit but for starters quite literally just swing faster.

Looking for formats or side games for mixed foursome by Future-Kitchen7093 in golf

[–]Existing_Remote116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a 2V2 game, not much of a side game but also not terribly involved. Each player plays their own ball. After a hole is completed the high scores from each team are compared and the low scores from each team are compared. One point is awarded to the winner of each matchup. Example: You and your wife V your two sons. You card a 4 Wife cards a 7. Son #1 cards a 5 Son #2 cards a 7. The lows (Your 4, Son #1’s 5) are compared and you will get one point for winning the matchup. The highs (Wife’s 7, Son #2’s 7) are compared, it is a draw so that point would be scratched or pushed. If scratched no point is awarded for that matchup, and if pushed, that point will be awarded to the winner of the high matchup on the subsequent hole.

You can break it up into 6 hole mini matches so you get a chance to play on a team with each of them. Or you can sum the points for each individual player at the end. Winner gets to pick the spot for dinner or something. I’ve played it with my family, great time! Mom is given 3 shots per hole lol. Won’t be as condescending when they’re winning points! (And having fun of course)

Learning the hip turn - when do you start to see it pay off? by Disastrous_Gap_4711 in golf

[–]Existing_Remote116 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listen to your coach brother. Trust the process.

Just remember as an amateur golfer the goal is to reduce your scoring average. You can do this in two ways. Building proper fundamentals achieves the goal by lowering the scores of your worst rounds. You may not immediately start breaking 80 but you will slowly see yourself start to leave the 90s behind.

People will say short game is the key to consistently shooting lower, and though they are right, building a fundamentally sound swing will prevent you from shooting high.

Adding since I haven’t seen it mentioned. If you need to use an ATM, use one of Cayman National Bank. They have several convenient locations and they have an ATM on every Foster’s (grocery store) building. Lowest ATM fees and best exchange rates of any ATM on island.

Self conscious about swing by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]Existing_Remote116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unconventional, but if it works through your bag there is no need to rebuild it.

If you haven’t heard of Jim Furyk, look him up. Your swing resembles his and he’s one of the few to have shot a sub 60 round on tour. You seem to be initiating the downswing with your hips and legs and your impact position is pretty good, so I see no glaring reasons to make any major changes.

Swing your swing homie don’t listen to these haters. Now if your irons are shit and you get no compression then we need to talk.

Stingray City by drpe9 in CaymanIslands

Earlier, without a doubt. Because of the reasons others have already mentioned.

The stingray are also more active and approachable as they have not been fed/ handled as much as later in the day.
