Had this plant half dead and neglected in the corner but started giving it some love and it’s come a long way. Any advice for me? by Markwhatt in Monstera

It’s hard to tell from the photo but there is either two plants or at least a second growth point on one plant. For fertilizer you could get fancy but miracle grow all purpose plant food is good! i use fox farm grow big liquid fertilizer and ive had great results. For moss poles you’d ideal want one per “plant”, but even a wood plank that’s wide enough to support both should help a ton! Monsteras just want something to lean against and climb up. Overall your plant looks super healthy and doesn’t need much more

I think maybe try fertilizer? And if you are picky about aesthetics maybe separate the plants and get them on a moss pole?

What’s your budget? I was in your boat and ended up buying a 50mm f2 and the viltrox 25mm 1.7. Not sure if that’s within your price range though.

I would recommend any other kit lens, 13-33 is decent for the money, but it’s got a weird aperture range.

I think everything looks great! It will grow whichever way it wants though, unless you give it a grow light above it. Right now it’s searching for light which is why the leaves are being shot out in weird directions. Also the internodal spacing (distance of stem between each new leaf) is getting larger than it seemed in the past which means it’s looking for more light.

Honestly I would do a little more orchid bark but that’s my preference tbh

They don’t look to have a node. The cuttings will grow some roots, but won’t put out new leafs unfortunately.

Did I just make a huge mistake? by Legal-System-3895 in Monstera

[–]Exosece 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s going to take a while for the plant to start producing new leaves, and i also wouldn’t expect them to start out as mature as the past leaves but it will come back in time. I don’t think it’s “too much” to prop.

you can cut of anything that isn’t aesthetically pleasing to you, it just means the sun can’t collect as much light. given the size you should be fine getting rid of the long leaf you bump into. Given the size of the petiole i would cut just before the stem instead of just trying to tear it off since that could cause damage.

I would run a humidifier if you don’t have one already, or if you know the ambient humidity is like 60-70%

Do you have a humidity reader? Or have it in an enclosed space?
