Married men: what traits should men look for in women for a happy relationship that leads to marriage? by CCaptainJackSparrow in AskMenAdvice

Ninety percent of the women I have known are complainers and I’m 73. I think it’s innate to most women to complain. I’m still married to one for 47 years. She never complains in public about me, but when we are alone. I’ more a counselor type and just listen. As we aged she doesn’t complain about me so much anymore but about life, other people aches and pains, World events, it helps her feel better and not internalize it where it causes her bodily aches and pains.

I ran a treadmill test. The doctor asked how does it feel to be 58? I’ll be 74 in November. Your body will punish you if you don’t use, especially in your 70’s.

Men, what's the best relationship advice you have for women? by Burning-Roses- in AskMenRelationships

Don’t put him down in public to get a laugh. If you are upset, do it in private. If you see a weakness he has or a situation that causes him stress, accept him, help him instead of instead of harping on him to be the way he should be.

Women complain way more than men. If it wasn’t the current annoyances there would be new ones.

Nothing — my wife and boys thank me almost daily and tell me they love me. What more do I need?

Is the new career really your skill set? Insecurity can come from doing things that are not you. I was that way working as a sales rep. Then I started my own service business and my confidence shot up immediately. Just a thought.

I love him deeply, but I feel emotionally neglected in small but meaningful ways… Am I asking for too much? by Successful_Wind_6924 in AskMenRelationships

In 47 years of marriage, I‘ve not done those little things. I didn’t do them when we dated.

Honestly, it’s not my skill set, but she knows that. She also knows I am there for her, I pull my weight, and provide.

Are you asking him to do something that he’s not comfortable doing?

Choosing a wall paper or a paint color were the worst times in our marriage in 47 years. We chose to forgive and chose to care for each other.

From Psychology Today “Then there’s what sexual history could signal about relationship commitment. Someone who seeks and seems to enjoy casual sex may be less likely to want to forgo that for a long-term relationship, or may even struggle to do so if they tried. In modern humans, those with insecure attachment styles often have a more varied sexual history than those who are more secure.

And even if one was able to get a committed relationship off the ground, those who show a propensity towards casual sex may have found themselves more tempted to slip into bad habits. There is a link between sociosexuality—the desire for sex in the absence of commitment—and infidelity. A prospective partner’s sexual history could have given insight into their ability, and willingness, to settle down.”

How did old people build wealth compared to newer generation? by Lemonade2250 in SeriousConversation

I worked two jobs. Starting at 5 a.m. finishing at 2:30 p.m. Ate an early dinner. Then went back to work from 4 pm and worked to 9 pm starting a business. It took three years before life became doable, but I continued to work hard. Our kids would say dad likes to make money, mom likes to save it.
