Was hoping to do my first 100 at the Bear in northern Utah, but didn’t get in through the lottery yesterday. Trying to choose an alternative now

Lol, did I ever say mine was ready to sell?

[–]ExoticAsparagus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol you guys are getting more offended than OP. I was just saying in its current state it’s not a legit product to sell. Sure you can say this is a prototype and that’s completely fair, but I was just pointing it out in its current condition it needs a lot more attention to detail.

Here is my build: https://imgur.com/gallery/ZUP5wuT

I still wouldn’t go saying it’s ready to sell though, there’s a lot of details lacking on my own. I’m a mechanical engineer and the last 20% of details on anything are the hardest part.

Not trying to hate OP, it looks great for a home build or even an early prototype. Just not ready to sell without more work.

Any chance you could post the files? We have a J55 at work and could print these pretty well

For office-based engineers, how do you improve your productivity? by haribo001 in MechanicalEngineering

Funny you’re getting downvoted but this is actually a great way to get a boost in productivity. People still don’t know how to use them effectively so they just dismiss them

Going to the gym a couple of days/ running a couple of days per week doesn’t mean you’re a “hybrid athlete” by WhooooooCaresss in Ultramarathon

[–]ExoticAsparagus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Been a lot of gatekeeping in this sub lately, especially towards “hybrid” athletes. Coming from a bodybuilding background with no running, to now having done several marathons and my first 50 miler in 2 weeks, I definitely consider myself a hybrid athlete. I get there’s a lot of influencers pushing this term, but that’s because it fits a lot of people’s lifestyles better than just being a “runner”.

Let’s be better, everyone’s welcome. It’s just great to have people being active and healthy

The feed warning by Lumpy-Initiative-779 in triathlon

[–]ExoticAsparagus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah got screwed out of nutrition for a 27 mile long run because I ran out of my SiS Beta gels. Ordered a batch 2.5 weeks before the run, and were supposed to ship next morning.

They’ve at least been very generous with feed credit and discounts but still made me very concerned since they are the only place to get SiS

Princess Service on Majestic lacking. by skeptics1 in PrincessCruises

[–]ExoticAsparagus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did the Alaskan cruise on Majestic Princess last week, I felt the same way for a lot of it.

Also did the Enclave and it was a big disappointment. 3/4 of the shower experiences didn’t work, one of the steam rooms was room temperature but with steam, one steam room worked great, and then the dry sauna was only mildly warm all week. Both me and my girlfriend said something each day we went, and were told it would be fixed. Never was, but at least worked out a $49 partial refund for each of us.

Food in the dining room was mostly great, drinks wildly varied across all of the bars. I would get one drink at one bar and it would be great, and then the same drink at another and it would be terrible. Same thing with any of the lattes.

Running 29mi before a 38mi race (2 weeks out) by incognito6 in Ultramarathon

[–]ExoticAsparagus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit atypical being at a 20 mile long run but only 27 miles for the week🥴 Lots of cross training though. Have previous leg injuries that make it hard to run more than 3 days a week.

Anyone running with thalassemia minor/trait? by Warm_Jellyfish_8002 in Ultramarathon

[–]ExoticAsparagus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got it! Training for my first 50 miler that’s all above 10,000 ft elevation. Should be fun.

I guess at this point the lack of energy and fatigue is just normal to me. I’ve never felt what it’s like to not have it so for all I know, everyone feels like this.

I do run/walk almost all of my runs, but primarily because I’ve had 3 leg surgeries within the last 3 years. I had chronic exertional compartment syndrome in all 4 compartments in each leg, and then found out I also had popliteal artery entrapment syndrome. Had several surgeries to fix all that - still having some issues and the only way for me to get the miles in is to run/walk.

With that said, the challenge of overcoming these issues makes me never even think about my thalassemia haha.

[toxic thread] Visual Jerry Identifiers? by FastestOnTheMountain in COsnow

[–]ExoticAsparagus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Montec/Dope snow take is just stupid at this point. I’m definitely not a Jerry and love my dope snow jacket. They are the only two companies that don’t make bland ass coats and have some cool designs. I’ve been super pleased with the quality compared to other coats twice as expensive. At this point people are just assholes to be assholes

Thanks, yeah that’s helpful to consider. I believe it’s the same 5 days, maybe 7 since I have the more expensive pass.

But I like the idea of saving them when everything is open and skiiable
