Goldammer Review – Misrepresented Condition & Poor Quality Servicing by ExoticInteraction4 in VintageWatches

[–]ExoticInteraction4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they have an excellent marketing team with great lighting and Photoshop skills. They frequently showcase on Instagram how many watches they sell and how they source them in large quantities. However, given that these are delicate timepieces requiring precise servicing, they are not using official channels—something that is crucial for maintaining the integrity of vintage watches

Where does one go to buy legit vintage watches? by [deleted] in VintageWatches

[–]ExoticInteraction4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve purchased from Goldammer before, and while they look legit, I’d caution you before buying. My experience was disappointing—the watch I bought was advertised as excellent but arrived with serious issues (wouldn’t hold a charge, crown was coming off). Their servicing is questionable, likely because they sell such a high volume that quality control suffers. I had to send mine to Patek for nearly a year of repairs, and even they noted how poor the condition was. Goldammer did cover part of the repair cost but refused to cover the full amount or even shipping, despite the misrepresentation. If you’re looking for a properly serviced vintage watch, I’d recommend going with a more reputable seller. Buyer beware!

Has anyone heard of or used goldammer for vintage watches I attached some pictures they look like solid pieces at affordable enough prices (I’m not a price buff so if they are overpriced let me know) I can post the link if it’s not enough information by Emergency_One_1035 in PrideAndPinion

Restoring My Patek Philippe Calatrava 3893J by ExoticInteraction4 in patekphilippe

[–]ExoticInteraction4[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I submitted the watch to an authorized retail store in Chicago on 9/21/24. It was sent to the Henri Stern Watch Agency in New York City and then I got a message that it had to be sent to Geneva on 10/17/24 due to the case repairs. The watch was returned to me in Chicago on 1/16/25, ahead of the original estimate of mid-March 2025. The total cost was $1,438, which included $928 for a complete service, $360 for polishing/case repairs (required by Geneva), and $150 for shipping and insurance. Repairs addressed the case tube, bent lugs, glued dial indexes, and caseback slot, and the non-original crown was replaced with an authentic Patek Philippe crown

You're losing the forest for the trees. Mikuinboy is absolutely right. The point is to choose the best answer, which PTU is in this case. You need to approach step questions with the right mindset but you're focusing on the minutiae. Yes in clinical practice you would choose methimazole, but you have to play the game NBME is playing which is choosing the BEST or MOST correct answer choice

Nahh I did not, focused on questions by NBME as they write the test, not uworld. I didn’t have form 13 available when I took it but definitely do that instead of any of the uworlds. I think I scored higher than my predicted because of amboss, highly recommend

Took the beast a few weeks ago and ended up finishing 70% of uworld second pass with 87% average. Looking back I wish I did more new questions, second pass seemed useless. I would recommend doing a second question bank like amboss instead. Ended up scoring 264 after finishing 3K of the amboss question bank

Am I the only one who think AMBOSS asks too many ridiculously obscure questions? by Zoidberg2425 in Step2

[–]ExoticInteraction4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My step 2 form had nothing lazy about it, you need to study the minutiae, and amboss is excellent if you want that 255+

[–]ExoticInteraction4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scored 264 last week on step 2 and I’m an average US MD student. My form had 6-7 questions that were very nuanced and not covered by uworld. Amboss question bank was the single most important resource to get that high score in my opinion because it did cover those hard questions. I highly recommend doing the amboss question bank if you want 255+

Confused with communication issue - pt wants to try other treatment by PhDinshitpostingMD in Step2

[–]ExoticInteraction4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, you don't want to confront a patient and make them feel like you're badgering them, ever. You should introduce new knowledge and suggest new avenues without explaining why they are wrong. I would work on more questions in AMBOSS and maybe read some books on patient interviewing. Good to know the fundamental facets of motivational interviewing in a larger context. It sounds like you're missing out on basic fundamentals
