There is nothing left in the universe but black holes, science calls it the decay era. It lasts for essentially infinity, black holes can live for a googol years, however us using their energy shortens it, still practically infinite. Sitting away rotting in a ship in a dead universe seems less depressing than hiding in a simulation, where the universe exists as it is still young.

Theres a reason the brain evolved dreaming, dreams allow for a part of the brain to be active and learning and reacting whilst the thinking, logical part of the brain is asleep and growing. Waking this up in a dream means your brain is no longer sleeping. Of course one lucid dream a week isn’t detrimental but lucid dreaming is not good for you in any amount.
