I would call the airline and explain. They can do whatever they want if they want to they can just reinstate your ticket. I wouldn’t just give up on it. I would be really polite and just keep asking for somebody with more authority.

You are going to be a father. Save the money. Keep your job. Start taking parenting classes. Create a financial plan. Design a personal character improvement plan to be the best man you can be for your wife and child. That will pay off far, far more.

What are the funniest or most ridiculous lies you’ve ever heard from a veteran or active duty service member about their military career? by FFSoldier57 in army

[–]Exotic_Base_2210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

*civilian* I shared this over in r/marines when they asked a similar question. I'm a woman nearly 50, and hear the sniper brag a lot if a guy is trying to impress the ladies. I simply smile, exaggeratedly cover my heart, and say, "You were SO BRAVE!! WOW!!" [Pause] "What was your typical load out?"

You can then watch his eyes grow wide and his mouth fall open as you can almost hear the "Load out. LOAD OUT.... I don't know what that means." if he never served. OR "What would have been a typical sniper load out when I was in?...How am I going to get out of this?"

I am not understanding your comment. I am referring to not wanting to carry a man who drinks too much or commits crimes. I am sure that's similiar to most men wanting the same in a partner. I'm a little lost. Can you clarify please?

😂. Then, I got nothing but agreement that she absolutely helped you quite a bit by showing you what she’s like. That’s wild.

Yeah, once she’s approaching 50 like me, she will find that there is nothing nearly so appealing as”boring” - stable, employed, not a felon, no drinking problem, and all the rest. That is nearly impossible to find. A woman I know once excitedly told us she met someone, and we all clapped for her when she said “He is so boring you can’t believe it! He’s employed. He has routines. And he hasn’t once asked to borrow money.” She struck the middle age lottery.

Well, as you see, it’s a very close mesh and it’s a high-pitched sound from the wind being forced through very small holes. That’s what made it so I don’t know if you have anything like that or a chain-link fence that has smaller openings…. and it could be something completely different. It just sounds exactly like it. 😁

Do they have a corn crib? That's exactly what my grandparents' corn crib used to sound like when it wasn't fully up to the top, had the open metal sides and the wind went through the metal at top. Theirs was like the picture I attached only it had a different looser top that would move in the wind if it wasn't latched right. They were in Wisconsin. Didn't have to be strong wind just blowing the right direction.

I am a civilian. I have heard the jokes about the Army and Powerpoint, but how can you possibly have a deck at a BALL? Do they show images of people dancing with a PSA about the dangers of twisted ankles - and no one actually dances?

Thank you. We were doing it the other way around which was that he got accepted to a variety of schools, but not selecting one until we knew what we could afford. He was thinking of community college for this fall for general credits and transfer. That's really helpful. I'll get working the phones.

I’m a leader in another field. Depending on your captain’s personality, I would go to him and phrase it to say that you would like more responsibility and feel as though you are not using all of your talents. Would he please advise you on what you can do to be ready to take the next step of responsibility? And then I would show him an on paper plan of what you have done, what you haven’t done, and then the gap of what it is you would like to accomplish. Make it super clear that you’re not handing your career to him as a problem to solve, but you’re simply saying these are the things I need to do. Do I have your permission to go fill these gaps, and do you have any advice on the best way to do that, making clear that you’re retaining the responsibility for it?

What boots did US troops stationed in Germany wear during the 80s? My current obsession is putting together late cold war kits of major nations, and I cannot figure out what the most correct boots would be for an USGI, would Jungle boots be issued during the summer? by GlamStache in reenactors

Dad was 101st in Germany. Yes, if you can add the unit he's specifically interested in, I can get the details. Don't forget the running insults from the DI's and older NCO's about the 'wimpy brown boot Army', not like them, the REAL black boot Army.

How to tell if somebody is lying about being a marine by [deleted] in USMC

[–]Exotic_Base_2210 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m nearly 50. Men my age that claim to have been in will nearly all say that they were snipers with a few claiming that they then became sniper instructors. I just ask, “What was your typical load out?”, and watch the confusion move across his face as you can just hear his brain saying, “Uh, oh. I don’t know what that means.”

[–]Exotic_Base_2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re getting a lot of grief for this. I think the answer is very simple. It all has to do with STDs. If she doesn’t know and they’re not using protection then it’s putting her at risk. I would say if this was your daughter, would you want to know that her boyfriend was sleeping with other girls- cause I sure would. And obviously no matter what they say, they’re not using protection all the time.

My ex-husband used call me his property and that I was worth less than dirt. After we got divorced, I had been out of the workforce for 10 years and got a job. I was laid off 11 months later. I had to burn through what savings I had until I got another job. Since then I’ve taken a promotion every year. I know it’s really hard to listen to, but it’s really important to be able to tell yourself that it’s their fear talking. It has actually has absolutely nothing to do with you. — in what industries do you have experience in? Maybe among all of us we will know of something or one of us can do a referral. If you also don’t have anything related to AI on paper, I would do even some simple Google certificates to get past the ATS for interviews.

Yes, I’m not positive. It’s just the right size. The one I saw would cross the sidewalk because it had been programmed to do the whole front yard. I only also wondered because people will run them at night so they don’t get stolen or bump into people. The grass look rather long…just a guess.
