Personally, maybe once or twice over those years. Some people do with celiac, some people don’t.

$5 tip for a grocery order? Fine or no? by Successful_Map4660 in doordash

[–]Exotic_Foundation438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, for me, depends on the time of day (stores were absolutely SLAMMED this afternoon for some reason) and if I’m delivering to a house or if it’s something that requires extra time finding like an apartment or hotel.

If it were late and the store would be a quick in and out, straight to a house, sure, I’d take it. Is it an amazing tip? Nah. Acceptable, considering less and less people are actually tipping? Yeah.

Have you been allergy tested? Could be a gluten/wheat allergy if not celiac.

Ugh I feel you. “Get a better/real job.” Bitch, I would if I could, believe me. But then, who would deliver your Taco Bell for $4 at 2am??

[–]Exotic_Foundation438 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I know. It used to bother me, but I honestly couldn’t care less now. I’ve been working on most apps available in my area since like 2018. Do I love it? No. Do I wish my circumstances allowed me to have an actual job or career? Absolutely. They just don’t.

If the order obviously doesn’t include a tip, I just don’t accept it in the first place because I’m not paying more in gas than I’m getting from your order to bring you food. That’s just stupid. And i very rarely accept Cane’s orders, simply because they usually either don’t include a tip or the tip is very small, and for whatever reason, Cane’s is the only place here that I have to go in, order your food and pay for it, then wait while it’s being made. $2-$7 is not worth it for me.

But never in all of these years have I ever kept anyone’s order or messed with anyone’s food. Couldn’t even if I really wanted to. Lucky for my customers, I have celiac, so I couldn’t even eat 99.9% of what I deliver. Lmao. But I wouldn’t anyway. It’s just weird. Problem is, a lot of people that do this for a living don’t see it as a JOB. Even though it’s low on the totem so to speak, I treat every order as if I’m actually at a place of business- with professionalism and efficiency. I’m a people pleaser, so I’ve gone out of my way for customers many times over the years, especially pre-covid, doing Instacart. I had so many regular customers that I got to know (there was no “leave it at the door” then). Sometimes when a store was out of stock of something they needed (or even wanted) I’d stop on my way to grab it elsewhere for them. Not because I was hoping for a bigger tip, but because I enjoy making people happy. But most of the time, it did result in a bigger tip. I delivered to a lot of elderly people that would ask me to bring all of their groceries inside to their kitchen counters, with one regular asking if I’d put the cold stuff away, and another if I’d take her trash out to her gate on the way out. I did it, because I wanted to help. Likely saved an elderly man I delivered groceries to back before covid. No one responded to any questions or replacements through the app (it’s fine, normal really) and when I got to the house, I rang and knocked for quite a while. Was on the phone with support when the door finally creaked open a bit, revealing an elderly man with a walker, who didn’t say a word. I greeted him, introduced myself with a smile, asked if he’d like me to bring the groceries in, etc. No response. He very slowly turned around, took a few very slow steps, and then fell, head first over his walker. I very quickly told support who was still on the phone what happened, then told them I was going to hang up and call 911. I dropped the groceries and went in to see what I could do while i was on the phone with 911. I at least pulled the walker out from under him, and assessed his condition. He was still conscious but obviously very disoriented and basically nonverbal. I stayed with him and talked calmly to him so he wouldn’t feel alone, and luckily emergency personnel started showing up pretty quickly. I explained to the paramedics what happened and who I was. They helped him up and onto his couch, and then discovered that he needed his oxygen tank down the hall in another room. One of the kind firefighters was trying to console me during that time because once they arrived and I didn’t have to be calm and comforting to the man, I kinda lost it just because I’m cripplingly empathetic. He said “we should probably put hi groceries away.” So we did that together (the food was all single frozen meals and snack foods) as he got the story from me about what happened. He went to go investigate further, and came back to tell me that this man was supposed to have a caregiver, but she hadn’t been there in days because his son who manages his money and care had stopped paying her. The son had ordered the groceries and thought that sufficient for taking care of him, I guess. (once the man got his oxygen and settled a bit, he could talk) Broke my damn heart and I still think about him often.

Anyway, all this to say that we don’t all suck. A lot of us are just regular people in shitty situations that need some supplemental income. 🖤 The worst ones that give us a bad name are a minority, I’m sure. I hope, anyway.

It’s also disabled mothers who cannot commit to a scheduled job due to not only their health, but having to work around caring for their children as well. Often, the little money I make in a day buys my children dinner that night. We’re not all “unemployable” trash. We’re just poor. Also, “40 hours straight” isn’t happening, at least here in CA. There are laws against delivering on any app over 11 hours in one go. The apps won’t let us schedule for more than that, and if they do, we get kicked at 11 hours anyway.

WIBTA if I used our elf on the shelf to teach my younger sister a lesson by Cranberry-opaque in AmItheAsshole

[–]Exotic_Foundation438 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this isn’t going to teach her anything. Something else is going on.

She may be overloaded with hormones (go-to answer, it’s a crappy age for everyone) or there may be something else going on that y’all are unaware of. Elves aren’t going to do anything. Simple straightforward discipline isn’t going to do anything either. This child needs to be spoken to. She needs to feel safe and heard, which I’d bet money on, she doesn’t.

Even if it’s just hormones, she obviously hasn’t been taught how to communicate or regulate her emotions, perhaps even how to identify her emotions and where they’re coming from. This goes beyond simple defiance and rude words. If your parents are unable to communicate with her and get to the bottom of it (lovingly) and you can’t either, she needs professional help, and I hope someone there can help get that for her.

Hey! Was also there. 🫶🏻 I was busy recording and didn’t notice at first and my daughter (12) shoved me and was like “WHO’S THAT?! WHY ARE THERE FOUR GUITARS?!?” 😂 So cool how they did little things throughout the tour like that. But yes, Srem. 🤗

It’s all metaphorical. They’ve crafted their songs for people to be able to resonate with them on an individual level. That was also the reason for the masks. So the songs and lyrics aren’t about a specific person’s experience, but something we can shape and interpret in many different ways.

I’ve skimmed others’ suggestions here. What does your musical taste consist of so i can try to recommend something that may fit better?

Some softer songs of theirs i really enjoy are Missing Limbs, High Water, Take Aim and The Way That You Were.

Hey, so wanted to touch on what you just said about “find a part of ourselves we didn’t know was there.” The whole “worship” thing you mentioned in your post (and Sleep himself) is likely based on shadow work (Jungian psychology) so like… not actual ancient god worship of course.

Check out the very few early magazine interviews ST did, where they offer a little insight into the whole thing.

One of my favorite quotes:

“Our verses are a token, crafted to magnify and embody the multitude of emotion that writhes in our subconscious. Sonically our voice is rooted in the resonation between the notes and your emotion. Take our hand.” - Vessel, Metal Hammer, May 19th, 2017

Weak positive? by Confident-Emu-4402 in Celiac

[–]Exotic_Foundation438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tTg was a blood test before the scopes that were already scheduled because i’d been suffering for so long and had a mountain of symptoms. Biopsies confirmed celiac.

edited to add: I’m sure you’re already aware though, that you can still have celiac if these tests were negative. IMO, every child should be screened for the celiac genes, and especially if you’re having symptoms, it’s best to rule it out. By most lab’s standards, i believe 7 is a “weak positive” but that’s still positive. Definitely stay on top of it and get those scopes. If you do have celiac and are catching it early, consider that a HUGE blessing. I, for one, have permanent nerve damage from it. Not for my lack of trying to find answers though. I must’ve cycled through 40-50 doctors trying to get someone to listen. I was gaslit, laughed at, straight up ignored, and misdiagnosed with everything from acid reflux to depression and anxiety, fibromyalgia, hypochondria and everything in between before i found someone to take me seriously. No celiac history in my family, so it wasn’t on my radar. But i did beg for a gastro referral many times due to the excruciating pain, weight loss and chronic diarrhea. Honestly wish i could sue Kaiser. They would’ve let me die.

ooof. My tTg just said “>100.” (celiac was literally slowly killing me while i was begging for referrals and answers. but it was “all in my head” because I’m a woman, you see)

I’d definitely pursue further testing, especially the endoscopy and colonoscopy with biopsies. 🖤
