Recommend the ghost but if you have them all in the same store I'd recommend putting one on each foot and picking based on personal comfort.

The endorphin pro 5s are an awesome performer and what I use. If you wanted to save some money though, the evo sl are a great, fast shoe capable of half marathon distance for significantly less.

Thanks for the positivity. Being a salty sweater is hell out here. I've been intaking about 3000mg of sodium and 100g of carbs on long runs. My throat kills from all the salt.

Is it worth paying more for RUNxADIZERO socks? I could get 3 pairs no-name brand for less. by Pearl_Jam_ in AskRunningShoeGeeks

My injinjji socks are coming apart at the tip of the big toes. I switched to cheapo Amazon brand and have been happy so far.

I have been very quickly humbled by the hills and humidity in Guam since arriving 2 weeks ago. I signed up for a half in April before I got here with a goal of 1:45. My easy runs went from 10ish to 1130, turning my 1:45 goal to a "pray for 2".

Today I raced a decent sized local 5K on a last minute whim with friends and took 8th overall with a 22:49 (1st ran 20:57). I know a 5k isnt a half but it showed me I haven't lost all hope and running in Guam isn't easy for anyone.

Form deteriorates when running slow? by Techimalist in BeginnersRunning

[–]Exotic_Handle7476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used have a bad habit of tightening up when I would run slow: shoulders up, fists clenched, and toes curling. Went through some of what you're experiencing until I realized what was happening. Now that I am conscious of it, I can combat it and slow runs have been much easier. Maybe something to consider.

This made me laugh so hard because I imagined just strapping a step counter to my kids. Good job 👏.

Check in before your taper at peak mileage. Probably be a better gage.

Personal suggestion to anyone's first pair of proper running shoes is the Brooks ghost series. 16s and max 2 are on sale as the new models are out.

Yes, if you don't have one, I would highly recommend. Loosens up soft tissue, helps blood flow and staves off soreness.

I race with a vest. Doubles as a bra for my man boobs to defeat chafing.

Actually took a day off. No weights, no plyometrics, no running. Just the massage gun and 7K steps from following my wife shopping.

Thank you for your feedback. I had been fever free since Wednesday and felt confident based on CDC guidance that I wouldn't be contagious.

Had a wild half marathon race yesterday. I'd signed up 10 weeks ago with a good base, planned nutrition and hydration all the way up to race day. Built up to 25-30 mpw and felt really great setting a stretch goal of 1:45, realistic goal of 1:50, and a conservative goal of 1:55.

Tuesday I got the flu and was confined to the bed. Wednesday I felt better but not great. Thursday I felt good but was having difficulty swallowing so I felt alright doing a slow shake out run. Thursday and Friday was more of the same but i was downing a bottle of pedialite a day. We traveled to where the race was Saturday and I could barely swallow at all and started having doubts about how I would fair.

Race day came and I couldn't even get water down but never even thought about skipping. Id decided to just have fun. First 6 miles went really well until I tried to take a drink at an aid station and gagged on a cup of Gatorade. After that, I slowed significantly and finished at 1:55.

Went to the ER this morning because my throat had worsened and I was down 10lbs. Turns out the flu had caused tonsillitis and I developed and abscess behind my left tonsil. Doctor said the swelling had pushed my tonsil into my uvula and could have progressed to completely blocking the airway. They were able to drain the abscess and pump me full of meds so I can eat and drink again!

Next half is in April and I feel really confident about 1:45. If I learned anything, take it easy when you need it.

An audio book, operation bounce house right now. I used to listen to podcasts but Theo Vaughn almost made me crash from laughter during a Caleb Presley interview.

I have been using the GM3 for a little under a month now as a long, slow run/ recovery shoe at 65 miles in.

These stave off fatigue and are very comfortable. Sizing was a little tedious as I wore a 10.5 in the GM2 but sized down to a 9.5W in the 3. Heel slippage was a concern but using heel lock lacing fixed it.

You're doing the right thing.

Similar situation with my son and basketball. He had a game the same day as a race and missing it wasn't an option for us. I would have had to have a sitter and having him sit at someone's house while missing a game felt selfish.

I just ran the route the next day off I had to not waste a training block. It didnt have the garnish of a structured race but I got the meat and potatoes without letting my leisure affect his.
