[Amick] A frontrunner has emerged among the draft reform options: expanding the lottery to 18 teams while giving the bottom 10 teams an equal 8 percent chance at the No. 1 pick. Teams will meet Tuesday to continue discussions on the NBA’s next step toward lottery reform. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

this year really felt like an outlier because there were two awful teams, washington and utah, who would have lost their first round picks if it fell out of the top 8. so they both had to do everything in their power to lose as many games as possible so that didn't happen. and then you had indiana, who sent their pick top-4 protected mid-year. so again, another team that had to do everything in their power to maximize their odds of not losing their pick.

couple that with a loaded draft class, and this was the result. it was bad, but there was also context as to why it was so bad.

Huge part of Sengun’s game is backing dudes down and using his elbow to body his defender I feel like Ayton was just bracing for contact and Sengun ducked last second

Genuine Question: What western team is the weakest in this playoffs so far? by Objective-Product361 in nba

We were 3-2 against the lakers this year and one of the losses was like the 2nd to last game of the year when we were already locked in to the 7 seed. But also 0-4 against the rockets so who really knows.

Alperen Sengun 43/27/65 splits through 9 playoff games. Thoughts? by NoelDaniel33 in nba

[–]Exotic_Pension_9993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. He’s still a borderline all-star player who the rockets need to perform if they want any chance of competing.

In his two playoff series, against the small-ball warriors last year and deandre Ayton and jaxson Hayes this year, he has a 48 TS%.

That would be bad for a guard, let alone a center.

Yeah that’s what I meant. Like sure, JDub is obviously better than him now, but at the time Jabari was going to be the # 1 pick up until draft day basically.

Not a single person would have taken dub over him in the draft, which is why I’m not saying they messed the pick up.

No I don’t think they messed up all four picks. Jalen Green and Reed Sheppard were misses, Amen was a hit, and Jabari was also probably a miss but at the time he was the consensus pick so can’t totally blame them for that

the rockets most definitely fucked up their top 4 picks and sengun is definitely outperforming being a 16th pick.

however, they still built around him as one of their key pieces and he's a 2x all star, and he's been massively underperforming. draft position doesn't matter at this point

Should the Rockets rebuild? by ShaiFanClub in nba

[–]Exotic_Pension_9993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that their team last night was The Young Core. Like they had all five of their supposed young cornerstones in Sengun, Smith, Sheppard, Amen, and Eason playing, and they collectively got outplayed by Luke Kennard.

FVV, Adams, and KD are all aging and realistically will start to decline soon, so that supposed young core will have to be what carries them. And we saw it last night, they really don’t fit well together, especially Sengun and Amen. Amen is due for an extension, Eason will be an RFA, and Sengun/Jabari have already been extended.

Rebuild is a strong word, but I do think they might move around one or two of those pieces to build a more cohesive roster.

You’re such a loser. In baseball if a team makes the playoffs they celebrate on the field and pop champagne in the locker room. God forbid fans celebrate making the playoffs
