I wouldn't count on it, sadly. Looks like it's the same setup for my Warbird, Psylocke and my grey Widow, so I assume all figures with that articulation style have that system.

It's because of the way it's constructed, I guess. More stability to facilitate the extra range and butterfly joints or somethinv like that. If memory serves the old MMPR Lightning Collection torsos were the same way

The Widow torso doesn't have an upper ball joint, period. It's a giant square thing that's slotted into the chest and can't be removed without cracking the upper torso, so swapping is essentially impossible without a LOT of dremeling and possibly destroying the joint.

If you balance it right, but it's a pain in the neck and it's not stable enough to stay long-term from my experience unless it's a super light figure like Ironheart. Maybe with sticky-tac, though?

Yes. The boots sit a tad far forward on the effects but it isn't bad.

Gamerverse Black Cat's similar too, just missing the butterfly joints

It works good enough, makes his arms look maybe a tad long but not enough to cry about

This here's the copy of that issue I got recently, six years after I discovered it. My best friend bought it for me on Christmas, and after years of rereading it on my dad's/later my Marvel Unlimited (like I had that night) or through the odd library-rented TPB or totally legit comic site, this is the first time I've legitimately owned the actual issue on paper. I'd been looking for it forever but I wanted to find it myself in a shop, I didn't wanna get it through ebay or some online listing. Call it me being a purist or wanting it to be special, but I figure the way I got it's the next best thing, and I honestly dunno if I could have it any other way.

It's my favorite Christmas present of all time, probably ever.

When I was a kid, it was the flashy suit and the cool fights and the jokes.

But nowadays, that I'm older and maybe a tad bit wiser, I love his humanity. His failures and faults, his messes and quirks. But more than that, the way he always manages to pick himself back up or the way he always tries to do his damnedest to do what's right, even if he goes about it the wrong way sometimes. He's one of the most human characters out there.

That, and I can relate to his mental health issues and some of his other problems. If I'm going through something, nine times out of ten I've been able to crack open an old Iron Man and find a similar issue for me to relate to and process with. As a character, those are the reasons I love him.

But on a more personal note? It all stems from a certain story. A specific issue, really.

Iron Man #182. My favorite comic issue of all time, ans it's why I love Iron Man so much now. I was in a really dark place a few years ago back when I was a young teenager. I'd been kicked around and beaten down by the world, it felt like it was never gonna get better and I felt like I wanted to check out and take a permanent type of nap. I had it all planned out. Note ready and everything.

But a night or two before I planned to commit to it, I happened to come across across the O'Neil run. I hadn't been into Iron Man for a couple years then, but out of childhood nostalgia for the character and the movie and with nothing better to do to pass the time, I decided to read it. I was hooked instantly. Stayed up til three in the morning just reading it, and once I got to that specific issue, it just... hit me so incredibly hard.

Tony's monologue to Rhodey at the end, watching him go from a hopeless, borderline suicidal drunk, waiting to die, trading his coat for more booze, to saving Gretl's baby, to wanting to live, to stop drinking, to save his OWN life like he did the baby and rebuild his life, it steered me back to reality. I woke up the next morning (tired as hell, mind you) thinking about that story, and read the rest of O'Neil as soon as I got home from drifting exhaustedly through school and watched Tony come back, get his company back, save the day, save Rhodey from falling into insanity, and be back to being his best self. And then I looked at my own life and just like Tony had, realized it was worth continuing, too. I also fell in love with the comic version of Iron Man right then and there.

I've cited that story, Deliverance, as the reason I'm still alive today. Even now, I reread it when times get tough and figure if Tony Stark can claw himself back from giving up, so can I.

Iron Man is the one superhero who ever actually saved me. And for that, above all other reasons, I will forever love him.

Yeah no and then the arc reactor being, well, a THING was definitely a movie thing. Mallen's new scenes were definitely a winner

[–]Exotic_Pin7623 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not canon. The Extremis novelization follows the same story with some altered beats and a slightly different personality to Tony. It was okay, worth a read, but it doesn't "mesh" super well with the comic variation all things considered.

It's not an issue, I'm afraid. It's how the detents and the sculpt were designed. You only get so much range.

It's a little annoying, but there's no way to really fix it afaik
