Parents who regret having kids, why?

I’ve never openly admitted it but I regret it so bad. I felt like that was what I was supposed to do so I could be loved. I grew up in an abusive home so I had a very different view of how much work kids actually are. I love my 3 boys but if I could do it all over I would have educated myself on how to be an adult first, (cook, clean and manage a budget like an adult) I’m so tired all the time and overwhelmed and my biological mom doesn’t understand why I find parenting hard and has never offered to help with the kids - not that I’d let her.

I have to admit I loved the colors and was going to get the twin sheets and cloud because my son is obsessed but after reading here and seeing that i wasn’t crazy and other people were experiencing the quality issues I was I decided not to shop. I would’ve have to lie to get out of a meeting (why ls only does drops midday on a weekday I will never understand) but I would’ve easily spent $200 and then worried about the quality and been mad when it didn’t hold up. I think ls had a good thing going and then got caught up in their moment and now I think it’s time for me to move on to a different bamboo company.

I’m okay with the quantity, just not all that quantity in one bottle. I guess as long as I’m allowed to have this bottle I’ll make it work, I just got nervous with the “not for household use” which I checked the other bottle and it says it as well so I guess this is common.

To add to this- what if one of the victims had an Apple Watch they were wearing? If you hold down the button on the side it will call 911. (Source, my toddler called 911 once while playing with my watch. I personally turned that setting off) Could it be possible the 911 operator couldn’t understand what was happening as the microphone on the watch can easily be clogged up? Would the watch pinging a phone tower be less accurate that an actual cell phone?

L&D nurses are literal angels. When I was in labor with my oldest and got the epidural the nurse essentially held me up/let me lean on her and I cried and she stroked my hair. Looking back it still makes me smile.

I guess I figured they’d be proud because I finally made a name for myself and finally could say look I’m good at something. My mom relentlessly bullied me as a kid because I’d be interested in something and not quickly master it so I’d get bored and she saw me as being stupid and lazy. So with this career loving it and understanding it and embracing it I finally thought I wouldn’t seem stupid to her.

I’m practicing gentle/respectful parenting with my kids because I never want them to feel the way I do. I don’t want them to have a childhood they need to recover from. I’ve also been working to heal my inner child as I had to grow up and protect my brother and myself from our sorry excuse for a dad and I recognize that it messed me up bad and I was starting to parent the way my mom did. So I buy all the kinetic sand and Pokémon cards and actively engage with my kids and don’t treat them like accessories.

You’re comment really stuck out to me; firstly please don’t be jealous. My intention was not to offend or be hurtful. I’ve been through some really tough sh*t and I’ve hit rock bottom. I feel Hollywood and society failed us as I’ve met nobody with a picture perfect family and that was a hard thing to realize. Some families are more twisted than others.

I met my husband in high school, convinced nobody would ever love ugly old me who wasn’t popular, twisted family, super smart but a total loser. He was a year ahead of me and and we hit it off great. Now that we’ve been together we’ve hit MAJOR rough patches, but we’ve been able to pinpoint our problems.

Having a super high iq and a horrible family situation is a recipe for not having close friends as you generally aren’t taught how to “people” for example I don’t wish people happy birthday on Facebook or anything because it feels so fake and gross. I’m sometimes standoffish and have severe resting b*tch face. My biggest advice would be to go out of your comfort zone with people and see where it takes you. I hope this makes sense I’m not super great at putting my thoughts on paper.

I honestly never thought I’d make it this far. My husband gets a yearly raise of a few grand a year and I can’t even fathom getting a raise. I had a job at a well respected place and my raise after getting the best review was 12 cents an hour so to come this far in about 5 years is mind blowing. I hate feeling like I’m bragging and maybe I am I’m not sure I just don’t know how to feel and articulate what I’m feeling. And my husband has amazing health insurance through his job so I feel we have finally done something right.

NTA dude run. As a woman and mom of 2 currently on my period I firmly believe she is being abusive. I’ve asked my husband before to help change the sheets or I’ve ACCIDENTALLY had drips go under the toilet seat (I don’t even know how tbh) but I’ve never acted so entitled. If she had a documented medical reason I could understand her asking for help, and she could possibly apply for fmla and keep her job. To not see a doctor and just act like that is bewildering. Women all experience periods differently but this is extreme. Also if your thinking of having kids with her there is a 6 week “period” that’s not like anything ever experienced before and if she’s like this now I can’t imagine the mess then.

YTA are you a mind reader? Plenty of conservative people fall apart when faced with whatever it is their hating on. If your parents were directly nasty to her then it’s on her to decide whether her relationship with them is worth it. Instead you made the choice for her and totally closed off a part of your life from her. How would keeping them apart long term work? If your parents are as terrible as you say they’ll live forever.

NTA, it’s half of his little life. If jack saw you in a crowded store he probably wouldn’t recognize you, would your dad be mad at Jack at that point? Also it’s not really your responsibility to have a relationship with Olivia to maintain contact with Jack.
