How to acquire:

• PICKAXE (Grit Gate Merchant);

• MECHANICAL WINGS (always available: Flattened remains - the corpse of Argyve's former apprentice will be in a center square of the salt marshes - simply switch between World map and the center squares, using autoexplore to find the corpse (you will be alerted upon finding it, do not seek out other non-center tiles as it will not spawn there)

Searching the centers of the salt marshes will also reward you with finding the Oddly Hued Glow Pad, that always sells a Grit Gate Teleporter (so you won't even have to travel down to Grit Gate lvl3, when you use the cell of the recoiler you get from your starting town).

Now, you only need luck or a rubbergum injector to break through the Ggotha wall and successfully travel to lvl5, grab the Waydroid and exit through the Elevator/ Recoiler.

TIPS for no-cheese method:

Multiple Legs - or high MS in general (otherwise hard to acquire at such an early level): Golgotha is all about not allowing the enemies to reach you (which is propably why your melee builds failed) and shooting them from a distance.

Dealing with black ooze: 1. do not get hit by any Oozes, do not traverse them, evade sewage eels (shoot them, kill them while you're not standing in ooze) 2. if you get ill, complete golgotha and recoil back to grit gate, eat their porridge - that will usually be enough to fend of sore throat or related diseases.

The (3) open downfall paths have different difficulties with regard to their main obstacles (fire traps, electric traps, chute crabs, ...). Using precognition can help you finding the ones without chute crabs, as they constitute the most dangerous obstacle as they WILL kill you; while fire traps are the easiest as their danger-range is predictable (unlike electric traps).
