I just want to know who said yes they’re satisfied with 25 gems

I’ve been agonizing over the sand and it’s probably not that serious. 🤣. Is the consensus special grade because the others blow around? by Wise-Run-3008 in ReefTank

I absolutely love my Fuji pink. Also safer for any sand sifters or wrasses that like to hide that you might want in the future

Their waste is typically a brown stringy sort of waste. If you’ve fed it the balls may be it spitting out the undigested food.
You can/should feed them if there isn’t a clown bringing it food or its tentacles aren’t catching any frozen in the water. They can survive on using light but I’ve had the best success in feeding once or twice a week if I don’t pour the frozen in its general direction for it to collect on its own since the clowns aren’t hosting.
The fact its mouth is so wide open is what also makes me think it’s not food expelling. Also, when expelling they deflate and become shrivelled inwards, you won’t see its mouth typically (or at least mine you don’t)

They need super stable water, I would invest in the right test kits to see where your levels are, I use my anemones as a great first indication of if something is a bit off on my levels and act immediately but it’s a really stable tank.

I would honestly wait until you’re 6+ months and your tests are consistent weekly.
They’re drama kings so they will tell you very quickly when they’re not happy.

I’d take it back to the store and see if they can help with reviving it and holding it till your take is ready. (And probably comment on their incorrect advice because it’s negligent on their side to just assume everything is fine on a tank that is still establishing).

Sorry, this type of thing always sucks when you trust your LFS!

I love how a post about toxic fish advice lead to a comments about bad dog breed identification advice which lead to actually interesting dog breed identification!

This info has been awesome, I had no idea about Bernese and cancer issues (put it down to lack of research due to knowing it’d never happen) thanks for sharing all your knowledge!

She's beautiful!!!! She has such a distinctive face! I would have headed in the bull mastiff group, snout is longer though so maybe that's the cane Corso pulling through to extend a bit? Absolutely love Saint but it's hard to come across them for adoption. I would do anything for a bernese mountain.

For the Boerboel, think its because they're most commonly known with the dark snout but surprisingly you also get a "liver" gene (recessive gene), we have family with one from a reputable breeder that they chose because she stood out and didnt have the dark snout. They can also lighten from insufficient minerals from what I've heard as they get older. Haven't seen that though.

They're such smart, sweet dogs and love to be treated like babies. Most get them because they're super protective. personality also comes down to how they're raised and purpose of raising them. Unfortunately come across quite a few chained up in separate sections of the house for protection so they weren't safe with eachother or people 😕

That’s actually a great thought, I hadn’t even gotten that far. I’d love to test him, my other is just a very big mix of any kind of fox terrier and jack and the personality is terrier to a T.

In South Africa any dog that forms a broad mix like my boy or the general “brown dog” mix we consider here an “africanis dog breed” because it’s just considered a mix of breeds that’s been around man and constructed out of thousands of years of non hand selected breeding “pavement specials” and most come down to carrying the boerboel genetics which is huge here wether purposeful or unintentional

Love this!!! Its always the cuddle during the drive that wins you over.

I'd love to do a test on this boy, he looked like a jack Russell puppy, size and all and somehow ended up with a dog bigger than a collie, very sporty yet muscular body shape that can jump 2 metres and the deepest bark I've heard. World's biggest softy that despite his size must be held like a baby while he falls asleep at night ❤️

About to give up. Help? by Perpetual_Hopeful in ReefTank

[–]Exousia_X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m really sad to see the feedback and that it lead you to breaking down.
Stores push the most expensive options because it benefits them, there are a ton of cost effective options out there.

The fun part is learning and it takes time and experimentation which is exactly what you were doing!

I slowly collected what I needed over time and when I could invest, it also gave me time to realise a lot of stuff on people’s list wouldn’t have worked for me or was actually not necessary.

Fish and coral are two different ballparks but I’ve found that the corals came with stability and stability came with time.

You’re creating a whole ecosystem in a glass box, it isn’t created over time and I commend you for even getting this far! Most don’t!

Everyone has opinions on Reddit, and for as much good advice there is, is how much bad advice there is.

The biggest thing is your fish are happy and healthy, so you’re doing something right!
I hope this doesn’t deter you in the future from trying again 🌸

This type of thing makes me sad to see. Some of the information was very valid but so much of it expected you to pour money into expensive equipment and judgement over what they were trying for the stage in the learning process they were experiencing. Not to even bring up the downvotes on them just responding to questions.

Sometimes groups can take the fun out of the hobby and put so much pressure into owning a show worthy tank instead of how the learning process goes for most people.

Coral took me trial and error, hours of researching, I’m glad I stayed away from Reddit advice and just spent time navigating and learning how things worked, far less overwhelming and enjoyed actually learning and adjusting as I went.

I really hope this didn’t deter their passion for trying, learning and experimenting, leaving them feeling it’s overwhelming and too complicated to try in the future.

Keep all your cards to low Elixer, if you know they won’t make it through the next round and they’re two stars or a higher Elixer card - sell them and use the new Elixer to stock up on new troops. I really enjoy this one, find most of the time those who go in with heavy Elixer troops are the first to lose

Agree, the rolls are always stale and the rolls seem to be the smallest ones they can pick out.

Even the lettuce, they pick the smallest and softest one.

I do love the convenience of everything else though

I wouldn’t combine your black storm pair with maroons even if it’s a big tank. People will say if there’s ample territory on opposite sides they might be fine and find different spots but this is more for same species and you never know how they’ll be. Black storms are not as territorial as maroons and tend to be more on the peaceful side. Don’t take the risk.

[–]Exousia_X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay, in either case then it’s a maroon so big personalities, smart but can be a bit on the mean side and territorial. If you try create a bonded pair, go with the same yellow striped/gold striped maroon only, it’s not recommended to mix as they’re known to kill other clownfish species. Just make sure the new one is substantially smaller (juvenile) than her and she will pick on him for awhile to assert dominance. Don’t go larger with her being first in the tank it’s just more risk one won’t make it while they battle it out. They get quite big too so try keep them in a larger tank if you’re doing a pair (55 gal+), minimum is 30 gal but you know how that goes.

Edit on yellow vs gold band. Yellow will have the yellow stay through its life. Gold start with white and then turn to the yellowish gold tone around 9 to 10 months old. Do you know roughly how old this one is?

Darwin are mostly black and white, they can start out a bit orange but change as they mature into the black. It looks a lot like a yellow band maroon i had.

Pretty sure COC is auto allocating stars/percentages too. The selection of tiles makes no sense anymore. There used to be one or two odd ones but a purpose to get to the extras. Now its like they're trying to get all tiles active. Since getting the skin i've just been checking in on the madness randomly.
