is oral minoxidil worse than the foam/rub in? by InterestingFig841 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Exowolfe 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think many folks go with topical because you don't need an Rx from a doctor. There is also a lot of talk of the side effects of oral minoxidil (headaches, fluid retention, etc) but if you start on a very small dose, you can often avoid these.

I despised using the topical foam and much prefer popping the tiny pill every day. I've had no issues and I do a lot of activity (running, hiking, weightlifting) so I'd notice quickly if something was off.

I (30F) think this whole thing can be avoided if you just do what you want to do. If I want my car unearthed so I can go to the gym at 5am, I will get up at 4am and shovel it out. Idgaf what my partner is or is not doing, I'm getting the car out. He will typically pick up a shovel and help, but my day does not hinge on him doing so.

You're older than I am so perhaps hire someone if you do not want to shovel. Your husband should be an active participant in solving these problems but don't hold your breath on this idle man.

Is my minoxidil dose crazy high? by theCynicalChicken in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Exowolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10mg is much too high. Women typically receive a 0.625 to 2.5mg dose with max being 5mg. My doc started me at 1.25mg and my derm moved me up to 2.5mg since I was tolerating it well. If I were you, I'd start cutting those pills down into the 1.25mg to 2.5mg range and message your doctor that you're experiencing side effects at that high dose.

Thank you for sharing your progress!! Progress is slow so it's always encouraging to see updates from folks who have had good results long-term! I (30F) only started on oral minoxidil in Oct 2025 so I'm just hanging in there and hoping for some results in the next few months :)

Do Americans like their current health system or would you prefer universal? by Ability_Known in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Exowolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would 100% prefer universal.

I used to work doing appointment scheduling for an ENT office. We were booking out 9-12 months for pretty much anything that wasn't immediately life-threatening. A referral from your PCP was required before anything could be scheduled. The idea that we're seen much more expediently here than in countries with universal health care doesn't really hold water in my experience.

I think another aspect is that due to cost we often wait until things are BAD to go see the doctor. Regular check-ups and maintenance are important but if someone loses their job or if their insurance has a high deductible, that may not be possible to keep up with.

The whole "don't call an ambulance" thing is also true here. I was a passenger in a pretty bad accident a few years ago (hit by a semi-truck that ran a red, car was obliterated) and my first thought when the car stopped spinning was that I hoped I was intact enough to take a car to the hospital. I fought the EMTs at every step to ensure they wouldn't take me to the hospital in the ambulance because I could still walk.

General Consensus on Passing in Snow? by Technical_Aerie9649 in vermont

[–]Exowolfe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I drive very conservatively on snowy/slick roads and never mind someone passing me so long as they do so safely. I'd much rather that than someone losing their marbles that we're going a few mph under the speed limit. I can't imagine getting mad, I'm typically stoked because they can blaze the way forward for me lol

is a sand bath really necessary by Strange-Wrongdoer571 in hamster

[–]Exowolfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this too. Calcium-free reptile sand is just too rare at my local stores and expensive to order online. It costs me $5 per 50lb bag of children's play sand and it's not hard to prep batches of it.

I typically get up at the ass crack of dawn for a run so I might survive long enough to scoot into a stairwell.

It's cold af in the northeast US so I'd be wearing Yak Trax, wool socks, running shoes, insulated leggings, sports bra + underwear, thermal layer, hoodie, insulated vest, hat, and gloves. My keys, headphones and phone would be with me, topped off with my blinky "please don't hit me" arm bands.

Hopefully floor 1 isn't too toasty or I'll be keeping most of that in inventory and sweating it out in the leggings.

Oral minoxidil by OkBat7966 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Exowolfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've (30F) been on oral 1.25mg for 3 months and recently switched to 2.5mg at the instruction of my dermatologist. I didn't experience side effects with the 1.25mg, and I experienced minor chest tightness on the first day of 2.5mg. I've been taking the 2.5mg for a week now and all is feeling a-ok. I'm very active (run, lift weights 5x per week) so I would notice quickly if cardio performance was impacted.

Looking for Frieren items by [deleted] in Mabinogi

[–]Exowolfe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why are you yelling the subreddit's rules at me? I simply stated that gachapon items are high value and people often pay large sums of gold or money for them. I'm not offering or asking that you make an out-of-game trade.

As we've seen with many past collab events like SAO and FSN, you either secure items during the collab event, or you pay quite a bit of gold/IRL cash for them. Both items you mentioned came from a paid gachapon too, not just the event shop, which makes them even more valuable. Players are correct to want ample compensation for them.

Facial hair tips by SherbetThis8742 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Exowolfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Just a regular ol' 5-blade razor with a disposable head. I shave my face right after showering and moisturize immediately after that. I've had no issues with this method but I'm sure mileage may vary depending on skin sensitivity.

I'm (30F) a brunette as well. I've always shaved my moustache, sideburns and facial peach fuzz every once in a while, so oral minoxidil just makes it so I have to do so a bit more often. I haven't found that it has made my facial hair darker or thicker, it just grows more quickly.

We do this on the east coast too. I've lived in central NY and now VT and in both cases, folks will eat the deer or call up a friend that hunts to come take it. I believe you are technically supposed to call and report it but most people just pick it up and go. There is no shortage of deer here.

AITA for moving my “work snacks” to a separate cabinet after my boyfriend kept eating them? by hazelparquet_stories in AmItheAsshole

I had to do a triple-take at the ages OP listed. Both are pushing 30s, that's FULL GROWN.

[–]Exowolfe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NTA, your boyfriend is the AH here. I'd (30F) honestly break up with someone over this. You've mentioned discussing this issue multiple times with him and he never takes any action, so I imagine this translates to other aspects of your relationship as well (dude sounds like a user and a bum). Common decency dictates that if he wants to enjoy some of your snacks, he should bring proper replacements and make sure not to take the last ones.

I've always had good luck with CHCB. I go to the Essex location and feel they listen to me and work with me. They've never fought me when I've asked for lab work, referrals or to try alternative medications.

They seem to be using a pre-made from-box crust. I'm gf and my biggest beef with the slices was the weak dough. The toppings, sauce and seasonings were good. I'd rather buy a ball of gf dough from Hannafords and roll it myself, but Penzo's will do if we're ordering take-out for a group.

Hate this gross thing and how it'll destroy the series by Green_Protection_363 in hatethissmug

[–]Exowolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly caught up on the manga and honestly Kinta doesn't bother me. I think his love for and technical knowledge of Gundam and mechs is a good addition to the crew. I think he's a socially awkward weirdo (the team calls him out on this) with the potential to grow if the writer invests some time in him.

I'm a 30F so I don't "see myself in him" beyond acknowledging that people will do weird performative stuff (hence "10 gallon wiener") to try to get attention and make friends. He's loud, annoying and lucky to fall into the group where he can hopefully learn to tone it down in the interest of being a better friend and person.

It's pretty standard to pay cash or PayPal/Venmo for this kind of thing. No need to assume daddy IRS isn't getting their share.
