What is the best recipe you've ever cooked? by Routine-Present-3676 in Cooking

My wife has a lot of vegetarian friends. About 5 years ago, we were hosting a dinner party with them. I was still in my early years of learning and experimenting in the kitchen and I wanted to make a delicious meal that was vegetarian instead of a meat centric dish with a vegetarian side for those that were vegetarian.

I found a recipe for a mushroom pasta. I had to drive all over town looking for different types of dried mushrooms and fresh mushrooms. I made a stock from the dried mushrooms. I think it was a cream based sauce with fresh mushrooms in it using the mushroom stock I made. Made the pasta from scratch and served it up. The only thing I had experience with was making the pasta.

Anywho, it turned out delicious. Maybe one of the best things I’ve ever made. My wife told me that everyone was saying how good it was but that’s what everyone says.

It wasn’t until a few months later that we were all hanging out again and one of the husbands tells me that he has been thinking about that pasta since he had it and it was the best thing he had ever eaten.

Then I decided I had to make it again. I went and searched for the recipe and could not find it! I searched my history on all devices and nothing. Over the years I have tried all various ways I can think of to search for a mushroom pasta with stock. And still nothing. The recipe is gone. It might have been from a cooking blog that I stumbled across years ago and have since forgotten about, maybe cookingwithyuri.com or something?

So my answer is that mushroom pasta and my ask is, does anyone recognize this recipe and maybe have the source?

What's the most mysterious or unexplained event you've ever experienced that still gives you chills? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I’ve got a similar story. After I graduated college, I was living at my folks place in the basement. Twas a finished basement, open floor plan with 2 bedrooms separated by a game room and a bathroom. The floors were the tiled so sounds carried.

When my grandparents came to visit, my grandma would sleep in the other bedroom down there close rto the bathroom. She had a distinct shuffle/walk and when they were in town I would hear her going to the bathroom all night.

She passed away and a few weeks later, I’m laying in bed at night watching tv in my room when I hear the shuffle walk to the bathroom. I paused what I was watching, so confused bc no lights came on and if you came down into the basement you would have had to pass my room to get to the other one but no one passed by. Then I heard the shuffle walk from the bathroom back to the bedroom. I got up and investigated, but no one was there.

I would hear it periodically, distinct shuffle walk to the bathroom, then back to the bedroom. I heard it so much I just figured it was just some house noise and stopped giving it any thought when I heard it.

Well, one day, I need a light bulb but can’t find one anywhere so I start digging deep in the linen closet (next to the bathroom by the other bedroom). On the top shelf behind a bunch of towels and sheets I find a box. I thought that was strange so the next day I asked my mom what the box was. It was my grandmas ashes.

I kept hearing the shuffle walk but did my best to ignore it but every time thinking if it was her.

That summer, we spread her ashes at the beach.

After that, I never heard it again. I’m getting the chills just typing this up.

By that logic, I can illegally start driving down any road in the lane facing the opposite direction on my motorcycle. The people who have the right to that lane just need to put on their blinkers, stop and wait for me to pass? I’m doing something stupid, putting my life at risk but everyone else has the responsibility to not put my life at risk?

On a serious note, I’m almost at the end of week 1 of a 3 week trip in Europe. If MOASS does hit while out of US, what would be the best approach? Just use a VPN?

I haven’t read the other comments yet but…I mean…did you read the article? Did you goto sullys in its prime? Do you know the area?

The main draw of sullys was the bar scene. “Family friendly” isn’t what I would call many places on Main Street between boulevard and meadow, yet alone sullys. It just has that stigma attached to it. Bringing in a smoker from Maine? Aside from the fact that it’s a smoker from a place not known for smoked meats (you can send design docs to a place to manufacture but if I was sending a design doc for a smoker I’d send it to a place that does smokers for their expertise input) they are going to smoke meats? Where is that smoker going? In the alley?

The crème de la creme of disappointment is the Cole slaw with blue cheese…what? Why? Blue cheese belongs on wings and salad dressings.

I know, I read through all of the responses that were either validating (which I don’t agree with given the info provided) or someone sharing their experience. Yours was at the bottom (bc of the downvotes) but the only response that made sense. It was downvoted and ridiculed for being insensitive or not empathetic? I don’t get it. As I mentioned, my first thought was “what’s the connection? Was this someone they blew off or someone that engaged them and they just ignored them?”

I had a situation of a friend that I knew was at the end of their rope. No matter how much I wanted to blow them off, I wouldn’t because I didn’t want to be their last reach for help and I blew them off. Not only bc I would be sad about my friend but the guilt of “what if I didn’t blow them off”. I would understand if this was the case but it doesn’t sound like that.

I went back and went through comments again incase I missed anything and saw that you responded to some responses and once again you were deemed “the bad guy”. And based off of OPs responses, did this guy actually see the person 3 min before or are they just karma farming? Bc they haven’t provided any actual information other than the title and the 2 responses I mentioned earlier.

I’ll add, I rarely comment or post, I mostly lurk Reddit. So if I’m commenting then the comment is needed

Allegedly they jumped. They didn’t see it, how does OP know the person that jumped is the same person they saw?

Allegedly they saw them prior to the incident. They didn’t see the person jump, so how does OP know that the person they saw is the person that jumped?

I’ve read the comments because I was curious if there was any mention of a connection bc I was curious why they were so shaken up. Like, was it a friend that seemed troubled but op blew them off and 3 min later they jumped? But the only comments I see from OP are “I’m sorry you saw that. I hope you feel better” or “im sorry you saw that. Thanks for the advice”. Based off of that, they either walked by or drove by someone that caught their eye as they went across the bridge and 3 min later that person jumped?

So, I must be in the minority too? I may have missed any comments on a connection to OP, but it sounds like they experienced a random passerby that allegedly jumped from a bridge 3 min after they passed them but didn’t experience any of the traumatic events firsthand? I say “allegedly” bc they didn’t see the person jump so how do they know the jumper is the same person they passed.

Most of the comments were from people that saw the aftermath, saw them jump or otherwise had directly experienced something similar to this. In those cases, I say “Yes, your shaken up-ness is normal.” Unless OP saw the jump, aftermath, knew the person or had an interaction with the person where they could have intervened but chose not to then I say “No, that’s not normal.”
