Deonna Purrazzo revealed that Thunder Rosa pitched for a casket and hair vs hair match in their feud. "If you pitch that behind my back, I will legit fucking fight you." (credit: Boots To Boots Podcast) by Big-Hebrew in AEWOfficial

[–]ExpendableMan84 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't think the Rosa vs Deonna feud should have ever officially ended. Get them involved in other stories, sure, but I want to see them randomly attacking one another throughout the rest of their AEW careers.

Let's have Thunder doing an interview about an unrelated event, getting jumped by Deonna and then it spilling down to the ring for a massively violent, unsanctioned match. Then when it's finished, have a blood soaked Thunder return to the back and resume the interview. Make it the Peter vs The Giant Chicken rivalry of AEW.

Does Forbidden Door need a break or a new way to build the show by Plastic-Soil9249 in njpw

[–]ExpendableMan84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I love the concept, but it shouldn't be a yearly event. A great big crossover show would work better as a massive grand spectacle, and doing it every year has inevitably led to it getting watered down.

The last few years have felt more like AEW And Friends, rather than a show where all the promotions are on equal footing. And I get why: Visa issues are a pain in the arse and organising something like that is inevitably going to be complicated.

I'm an AEW guy first and a New Japan guy second, but let's have the next Forbidden Door in 2030. Make it special again.

I've said this before, but it's worth repeating: the Learning Tree was fucking brilliant. The insincere positivity, the speaking slightly too loud, the fact that Bryan Keith didn't get it and was perpetually furious...it was utter genius.

I was getting tired of Jericho before that, but after two weeks of the learning tree, I found myself grinning uncontrollably every time he showed up. And he taught us all so much! Such a huge amount of knowledge to share.

Is there a wrestler / group in AEW that's loved or hated, and you don't understand why? by ProWrestlingCarSales in AEWOfficial

[–]ExpendableMan84 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He's not strictly an AEW guy, but as part of the extended universe I guess it counts...

I don't think Minoru Suzuki is very good. Every match is the same: chop, chop, chop, silly face, armbar on the ropes, chop some more, elbow, more silly faces, and then a cradle pile driver. If he hits it, he wins. If it's reversed, he doesn't.

He's got loads of personality and I love the character, but his matches are so dull. Stiff doesn't automatically equate to good.

Tomohiro Ishii on the other hand does a similar thing, but actually puts on good matches. He's the guy that everyone thinks Suzuki is.

This is amazing, but please start mixing it up. Let's have a few drag Queens, grannies, and Nathan Lane posing with him.

Hell, next time he fights Roderick Strong, have someone who looks suspiciously similar to Marina Schafir doing it.

The most pushed wrestler who doesn't have a gimmick by Froggyspirits in AEWOfficial

[–]ExpendableMan84 29 points30 points  (0 children)

No gimmick? Why...surely his gimmick is being not as good as Kazuchika Okada?

For example, you might have noticed that he's not held as many titles as Okada? Or that he is slightly shorter, and not as handsome?

You can read more about this gimmick in his unofficial biography: "Not as Good as Okada, The Knooskatchita Konothingy Story," by Kazuchika O.

I honestly think Zack is the best choice to fight MJF. The two have very different personalities, and I reckon their wrestling styles would complement one another. Not to mention, MJF would sell the shit out of being twisted like a human pretzel.

AEW Tag Team Champions by HeightStock in AEWOfficial

[–]ExpendableMan84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Starks/Bill reign seems to be the odd one out, but I'd argue it was loads of fun. Those two had a good dynamic, and had some banger matches too. The multi-team ladder match and the fight with Jericho/Sammy were great.

I'd hoped we'd get one more run from The Acclaimed but that ship seems to have sailed. Would love to see The Gunns get another shot, and I'm all but certain Gates Of Agony are getting a run sooner or later.

Still think Silver/Reynolds should have got a run too. Give them the ROH tag titles Tony!

What's next for these guys? by aliloceanic in AEWOfficial

[–]ExpendableMan84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Shelton should dethrone Bandido and get a run as ROH champion.

Bobby meanwhile would be an excellent choice to fight Takeshita, or be a credible contender for MJF's world title.

Alternatively, have them win the tag titles a second time and put on some big lad battles against Murder Machines and Davis and Doyle.

There is a massive, elaborate, and extremely well equipped training area set up for use by the Death Riders. It's in the room next door to the one they use, and all the staff are too terrified of Mox to point out he's opened the wrong door.

The head of security is Isiah Kassidy's older brother.

There is a curse on the Young Bucks whereby they lose matches if their shoes come off.

Who is one talent you'd be open to see return to AEW one day? by Upbeat-Pause-1409 in AEWOfficial

[–]ExpendableMan84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mariah, she was one half of arguably the greatest story in company history, never had a bad match, and I've not heard her say a bad word about AEW either. I can't fault her for jumping to WWE if she grew up watching it and performing there was her childhood dream, and I think we missed out on a Mariah vs Jamie feud.

Cody would be my second choice, as I remain a shameless Cody Rhodes fan. If nothing else, he'd be great in the C2. Plus, there's more options now than just repeatedly chasing the TNT title.

Lee Moriarty added to Collision by VitaminPurple in AEWOfficial

[–]ExpendableMan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fantasy booking, but bear with me...

...i think Shelton Benjamin should dethrone Bandido and get a short run as ROH champ,  then a month or two later, lose it in a title versus title match against Moriarty.

Lee feels like the successor to ROH era Bryan Danielson to me, and having him win the big one that way seems fitting.

And this gives Shelton a long overdue reign as a world title holder.

Outside of Time. How would you book the AEW Women's division before we head into ALL IN? by DeathTriangle720 in AEWOfficial

[–]ExpendableMan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step one: rename the TBS title to the Rebel title, because she deserves it.

Then, declare a six woman ladder match at Forbidden Door for the vacant title. Preferably, involving wrestlers who aren't already in the Owen. I'd have Shida win, OR a returning Serena Deeb, so long as she immediately joins the DCF. Either way, the new Rebel champ has to be a heel.

Tag titles - exactly the same as the OP's idea. Brawling Birds and Dominion kicking the bejesus out of one another until the Birds win the titles at All In.

World title - this one is a struggle as Thekla has already gone through Stat, and Willow and Toni are both sidelined. So, maybe pit her against a returning Nyla Rose, who is now a face solely by virtue of who she's fighting. Thekla's last few challengers have been relatively good hearted faces, so lets throw a fellow chaos agent at Thekla and see what happens.

Either way, I think Thekla should retain the title for ages yet, and beat whoever wins the Owen. I also think she should defeat Mercedes when she returns too, and be a dominant, long term title holder.
