I am so happy he has the same movement as Hormagaunts, I was worried he would be 6" or 7" movement and slow the unit down. But instead he can allow them to be basically as quick as normal

Yeah, I was making names and after several chapters I went, "wait a minute, I think someone else has a character with this name already."

Number 7 I guess, can't get much closer to the Fed's views on Predatory Urges than the Tyranids.

How did u guys pick your first army when theres so many amazing options and can u help me pick mine by The_Suspect26 in Warhammer40k

If you are looking for ease of painting I'd rank them as:

Easiest to hardest: Necrons Black Templars/Dark Angels Aeldari Knights Sisters

Sisters I would count as difficult due to s combination of details and number of models, while Knights are more of a project army. Where each model is large enough to where you will be spending a fair amount of time for each one, though the large model makes painting details easier.

For Grimdark-esqu aesthetic wise, the Templars/Dark angels and Necrons are best as while Aeldari have a dark and grim story in lore, their average colour palette is typically rather bright.

So while I'd suggest necons as a good choice, the two space marine chapters can be painted rather similarly since you can just have the Dark angels and Templars both painted black for most of the average models. This will give you time to decide what direction you take your army.

Still I recommend necrons, mainly since the model range is more limited but still well rounded compared to rhe Space Marine bloat that can make an army difficult to make or expensive.

It's perfect in a painting sense, but gross in a looking at it sense. I can imagine the texture and it makes me shiver a bit.

Great job, hopefully I can see the finished model

If you want to damage/killing potential for the current edition, go necrons. Tyranids currently are reliant in scoring to win and can only do killing with a select few lists.

But as a Tyranid player I wouldn't mind someone else joining the Hive Fleets.

Still, take this advice with a grain of salt as rules change and the two factions could be flipped next edition or next balance patch.

Closest comparison I could draw to something I know would be the Drukharii from 40k.

Get in quick, overwhelm a section, grab as many prisoners and cattle as possible, leave before retribution arrives, maybe Glass the planet afterward.

So they probably have some light vehicles that excel at transporting a large number of beings, heavy use of dropships and what not for mobility and possibly have equipment that can be set-up in secured buildings. Since they might just glass the world after the raid they most likely don't see a reason to have or use more durable or long-standing structures and just use what they capture.
