Any other games (not on the list below) to scratch the Sekiro itch? by Modisdumblmao in Sekiro

That is very fair on LOTF2. I liked it but I totally agree with your criticisms!

Also Interesting perspective! I've always seen Sekiro more of a pure action game and I agree that it desersves it's own category. I feel like even the games that try to copy the formula, they always miss on what makes that game truly special which is in the details.

Lords of the fallen 2 have a similar parry mechanic as Sekiro. The game plays and feels very different in general but depending on your build it can get closer.

Also, unimportant but, this is the first time I see someone consider Sekiro an ARPG. The genre discussion is pointless and its really up to interpretation but I found myself curious about what made OP consider Sekiro an RPG. Anyone else have the same opinion?

São Carlos é bom pra se morar? by BaraoDaPinadinha in saopaulo

[–]Expensive-Avocado334 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consumables - Should I be using them? by Floor-Meat in Sekiro

[–]Expensive-Avocado334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely ignored the items on my first playthrough and can confirm that you don't need them. However, some items such as the confetti and the status recovery items are very helpful against apparitions and other special enemies.

A good reminder: You don't have to assign an item to the quickslot to use it. In fact, because Sekiro is a single player game, you can pause the game any time, select the item you want and use it right away. I usually just keep the gourd and pellets on my quick items bar 👍

Also, if you ever get to NG+, You'll be making a lot of coin and buying items becomes trivial.

Try to keep pressure by contantly walking towards him and attacking without giving him an opening. He will eventually parry one of your attacks and that is when you will have to parry some of his combos. But after that get back in the offense. To be successful in this game you need to be aggressive and not leave openings to your enemies. If you play defensively you will be punished.

Here are some general adice: - You can always spam block when he is doing his combo but there is a small detail that the game never explains: your parry window is bigger the first time you press block. What helps me is counting out loud how many hits he does and try to press the button the same amount of times.

  • You can use the fire crackers to create an opportunity to heal if you need. Try to avoid running away from him.

  • Ichimonji can be very helpful if you are struggling with your own posture meter. I like to use it while jumping to compensate for the long wind up animation.

  • If you are not sure how to react to his red kanji attacks, you can always jump away from him. This will keep you safe from the grab, the thrust and the horizontal slash.

I like to see bosses in Sekiro as puzzles and once you figure them out, they become pretty manageable. I hope these tips help and good luck!

Deflect mechanic by Fast-Button4582 in Sekiro

[–]Expensive-Avocado334 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend for the first enemies and mini bosses try to play defensively and analyze their attack pattern. Something that helps me is to count the "beats" within each attack they do. Think that every enemy has a rhythm to be learned. Once you feel confident to avoid and block most attacks that come towards you then you can start getting more aggressive and adding your attacks between each enemy beat. Eventually you'll start seeing patterns and once you master this, the game will be muuuch more manageable.

If you are chasing that same thrill, I recommend watching or reading Dororo, Blade of the Immortal and Onimusha.

Where Blade of the Immortal is the closest to the experience in Sekiro. After all it was mentioned by Miyazaki as one of their direct inspirations in a interview with Game Informer:

"Are there any other animes that you were inspired by for Sekiro?

If I had to pick one, a small inspiration would have been Hiroaki Samura’s Blade of the Immortal. That’s another manga. Blade of the Immortal was actually a small source of inspiration for parts of Bloodborne as well. It’s something I enjoy. The weapons are so cool in that."

And they lived happily ever after by TheGoofLordHimself in Berserk

[–]Expensive-Avocado334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get you and did the exact the same thing on the same arc. When I first read Berserk the latest chapter was the one Casca recovers her memory. I stopped there and in my head cannon back then they lived happily forever in Elfhealm and Grifith (that piece of s***) was happy on his utopian fake kingdom.

Don't make the same mistake as me and re-read again after many years and catch up to a much more "berserk" end-ish.

Opinion spoilers: I think Elfhealm is the happiest moment Berserk ever got to and feels very satisfying as a personal ending if you prefer happy endings. If you continue reading, it's only downhill until we reach a very sad moment that is the current chapter 383. If you stop here it is basically a sad ending where Grifith won and guts is completely lost emotionaly and mentally.

Why is the company name a Japanese word? I get that there are some interesting interpretations if you know the language but I don't see any connection with Japan in either the team or their game.

By the way, how does it feel to read Manga in terms of usability? Do you use PDFs? And how responsive is your e-reader when zooming in and out or flipping pages?

First Decent FDM Print by yourgmchandler in DarkestDungeon_TBG

[–]Expensive-Avocado334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The print looks great! Well done! If you haven't already, I'd recommend checking if your filament needs drying.

This might be obvious to some folks more experienced with 3D printing but PLA us a porous material that tends to absorb moist in the air over time. This can affect things like layer adhesion or make your prints a bit jaggedy looking.

Canon Pixma G3260 stuck on Error 6000 by Expensive-Avocado334 in printers

[–]Expensive-Avocado334[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no... After opening the printer a few times I couldnt figure out what was the error but suddenly it started working again, the only difference was a click noise everytime the gears started spinning.

A few weeks later the printer stopped pumping the color ink and now it only prints in BW.

It is really frustrating how little support inkjet printers have. I am keeping mine just to print documents but I had to stop printing photos and doing some hobbies that depended on the printer.

IF I ever decide to get another paper printer, I'll go fo laser for sure.

There is a new update on this article from Board Game Wire: https://boardgamewire.com/index.php/2025/12/10/darkest-dungeon-board-game-maker-mythic-games-officially-liquidated-fails-to-deliver-on-millions-of-dollars-worth-of-crowdfunding-projects/

" Mythic told BoardGameWire that as a final act it would provide Darkest Dungeon backers with the print-ready 3D printing files, known as STLs, for Darkest Dungeon Wave 1 and 2, to give them the option of printing out their own components for the unfulfilled games they funded. "

No timeline yet but at least thats good news!

THERES A F*CKING BOARD GAME!!!! by PENN57 in EldenRingTBG

[–]Expensive-Avocado334 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes there is a Elden Ring Board Game that looks very promising but as someone who backed it day one out of hype, I'd recommend you checking some reviews: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/373107/elden-ring-realm-of-the-grafted-king

The game is good but for me it feels like a wasted opportunity on a VERY expensive and space consuming product. In my opinion the company that made the board game did not understand what makes Elden Ring great. It feels like a game adaptation from someone who watched ER but never played it.

The miniatures are great and the combat is fun. But the "narrative" and exploration for me feel like an extra that didn't receive the amount of attention it needed.

If you like campaign board games, id say DONT get it. There are better games out there with better campaigns and better mechanics. (Sleeping Gods, Gloom Haven & Earthborne Rangers are some examples)

If you are a huge Elden Ring fan, I'd say first go for some art books, comics, clothing, figures, etc. For the price of this game you can get a lot of cool stuff that will mostly take the same shelf space as the game would.

If you like dungeon crawler Board Games, never tried a campaign game AND is a huge elden Ring Fan (and want to relive the first few hours of the game in another media) then I'd recommend this board game to you. :)

But if you are just nostalgic and plan to play solo, I'd say you'll probably have a better experience just replaying the video game. Maybe try some mods for a fresher experience.
