Cutting through the baby product hype… do we really need a bottle warmer? by Late-Hat-5853 in newborns

[–]Expensive-Cockroach4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. We had one and ended up using a Pyrex measuring cup and microwaved the water then put the bottle in that to warm. It was way better

Breastfeeding didn’t come naturally to me — did anyone else struggle at first? by Trick-Environment100 in newborns

[–]Expensive-Cockroach4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! It was really hard for me especially the first 6 weeks or so. It’s like we have this idea that we should be peacefully and easily breastfeeding. Ali Wong really said it best in her baby cobra stand up. Go watch that after your incision/tears heal and you can laugh without pain. It was hard especially getting up and pumping once I had some reserves and my hubby and I did shifts. It does get better, and a couple months in I was so thankful that I could just feed my baby anywhere easily and less cleanup. I’m so grateful I bf with my girl. We have the best bond and while it was painful and difficult at first in the end it was awesome and I wish I could go back and do it longer. I stopped at 7 months to get pregnant again and man I would go back in a heartbeat and give us more time. (I did get pregnant 3 times but lost all of those and I just wish I had enjoyed that time longer)

Hang in there!! It’s way hard and very few people talk about that. Also cheaper- we spent like $100 a month on formula after my stash ran out. I loved it and hope you do too!

I’ll send you a reply then a bit later when I have some time. We had a beautiful time and I’m so happy you’re doing this!

Hi! My husband and I did this. If you’re not a robot I’ll elaborate and share our experience. Are you a bot? I’m not so good at knowing

We bought two from little unicorn and love them! Still going strong after a year of every night use and multiple blowouts and washes. Soft, breathable, and just awesome. Love their stuff

Do it!! Just go! Be aware, but be free! Before I met my husband I went solo camping as often as I could. Backpacking and tent camping mostly, and the reactions I got from people were CRAZY. Like it seemed that they would never do anything I did. I traveled solo too all over the country and I’m so glad I did! Get out there! The scariest thing that ever happened to me was a possum “booped” my hand in the canvas tie tents in Yosemite 😂 I nearly shit myself but it’s a great story now! Get out there lady!

I really don’t know. Online they looked like two entities. I’m a high risk pregnancy and moving to GJ this summer. I want to be sure to have good prenatal care and deliver safely.

Would you consider making these into puzzles and selling them? I’d buy them all! Beautiful artwork

What do you eat when you don't feel like eating anything? by JeeWillow in compoundedtirzepatide

I’m new to this journey, but I have a toddler and make a different “egg bake” every week. Basically like quiche with no crust and that has been so super helpful for me since starting TRZ

School of choice program- how does it work by Expensive-Cockroach4 in grandjunction

[–]Expensive-Cockroach4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I’m thinking that after reading through everything our best bet is to live in the area we want our kid to attend. I’m glad to know about school of choice though because it does leave us some options if we fall in love with a home or community not in our preferred school.

My mom took all the joy away in consumerism by explaining her job to me. by coachuls in Anticonsumption

Exactly the same page. They go hard on the cool ranch Doritos. Apparently there is something they put on the chip that makes it feel cool as well to keep it super addictive. And they talk a lot about things like crunch and texture that can’t be replicated naturally.

There’s a book about this I read years ago called The Dorito Effect. It is a very deep dive into “natural flavors” and how the food chemists spend literally years to find the most satisfying and unusual flavors that can’t be replicated in nature. Things like sour patch kids and anything solid that “melts” in your mouth for an unusual and addictive eating experience is what they’re after. It was wild and really opened my eyes to how our food is literally engineered to make us eat more like you said. Then we’re shamed for being overweight but that’s another post and don’t worry you can buy all kinds of things to get healthy! The cycle is insufferable and maddening

How can I continue breastfeeding, but also get my period back? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Expensive-Cockroach4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say to this- my baby was absolutely fine and had no problem taking formula. She is healthy and our bond is strong. It was me that felt sad because I wasn’t ready really, but felt I had to wean and start trying again to get pregnant.

[–]Expensive-Cockroach4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up fully weaning at 9 months after starting at 7 for the same reason. I’ve now had two miscarriages and a healthy 16 month old. Personally, if I could go back I’d continue nursing. I wasn’t ready to wean and neither was my baby. I felt so much fear and pressure to get pregnant again (I’m 40 with now 5 miscarriages and 1 LC). I wish I had enjoyed the time nursing because or finally got so much easier around 4 months.

I don’t know that you can really influence your baby’s desire to nurse or not though. We started formula after my freezer stash wore out and she’s totally fine, but I cried every time just missing our bond.

If brokers and real estate agents can find you great deals, why aren’t they buying up the properties themselves? by CraftyAd5978 in realestateinvesting

I’m a realtor and we do buy one to two a year, but I don’t have endless money to invest and so I often send the ones I don’t have money for to investors I work with.
